  1. Be careful. Some carriers charge for calls even when using wifi calling. T Mobile for example charges $.25 per minute. Other carriers may be more or less.
  2. Does no one use a password manager that will autofill personal information and credit card data in forms. It's a quick and easy way to check out with a card.

    Beer

I see question after question about included wines but not much of anything about beer. Yes, I'm a beer snob without any desire for, or appreciation of, wine. So my question...what are the included beers with lunch and dinner? Off the menu or just the "beer of the day"? Draft or bottles and cans? If it's just the "beer of the day", can you upgrade for an upcharge? Now, having asked all that, I've not seen any recent drink lists that include an IPA on the beer menu. That alone might drive me back to Princess or Celebrity. Can someone help ease my fears so I don't have to go beer shopping in town and haul my own cooler to dinner?
  4. Nah, the bus shuttles transfer to smaller vans with drop off at the cruise terminal. https://www.re.is/tour/flybus/
  5. Thanks, Hopefully that will work if I jump on it at 90 days. A follow up question...are there separate cars for cruise excursions vs. Norway's Best vs. VY? If so are there separate queues for each?
  6. According to the crew on the Countess the paddle wheel does provide part of the the propulsion so I'm not sure why it's any different in that respect from the other boats. It just doesn't use steam.
  7. By the same token, I prefer they be added automatically. I don't want to have to go to a desk to add tips. I know, many people like to tip individually and personally but how else are the people you never see going to share in the tips. Yes, I'd prefer they'd be included in the fare but it's not much different when they charge them automatically. Oh, and I've yet to see a line whose price includes gratuities that doesn't point that out in capitol letters.
  8. Can you book more than one included excursion at a port when two are offered?
  9. Looking at the Shetland Islands the included excursion is Panorama and Ponies. Does anyone know if you can pet the ponies or just observe from a distance. Asking for a friend (well actually my wife)
  10. The one that has me scratching my head is: Port of San Diego $480,288 Any idea what that could be for?
  11. Assuming they turn the meter on and don't rip you off...
  12. Yep, from the US terms and conditions "Gratuities on board and on land are not included in your Cruise Fare."
  13. Fascinating. Especially the debt to the post office. Must be for all those fancy sales brochures I was getting in the mail even as they knew they were going down the tubes.
  14. There's always Uber. Don't need to navigate anything but the app. Check out the Batobus. It's hop on hop off on the river.
  15. In my experience Emerald includes everything that Viking does and last I knew included gratuities where Viking does not. My experience on Emerald was that the usually had superior docking locations to Viking and were also less likely to be rafted.
  16. I take this to mean that it couldn't be sold since the operations have definitely been wound down.
  17. I think there's a big difference here. AQV is is not a family company but is owned by Hornblower. That's a company that's been expanding rapidly throughout the world. By their own numbers they own over 252 vessels 130 private rail cars and a bunch of other travel related assets including a recent big entry into Australian market. Once they took over the day to day management of AQV they obviously decided it wasn't important to their long term goals.
  18. I'm about 120 days out from when I'm looking to book a one way ticket Flam/Myrdal. There is a very large cruise ship in town that day and all of the times on Norway's Best are sold out. Will there still be tickets available on VY.no in another 30 days when they open for booking or do I need to be looking at alternate plans?
  19. It's not a great app but it's worth downloading. Most of the information is on paper once you board but you can look at the various stops and maps and learn about them ahead of time. At one time it was useful for tracking the busses but the last cruise I was on it was practically useless for that.
  20. You can book the cruise and bus yourself from norwaysbest.com. I'm not sure about the church. That's about an hours drive each way so time could be an issue to do both.
  21. My experience is not with Silver Spirits but with shore excursions. I booked some using my credit card. Then a couple of weeks before the cruise my travel agent released the on board credit somehow. That resulted in an immediate refund to my credit card for the shore excursion charges.
  22. I've canceled Viking air a couple of times both before and after booking my own. I've had a refund posted the next day.
