  1. I don't know, but Facebook AI loves to rehash old information into "new" stories these days. Could that have been it?
  2. Surely you jest! The Sunshine only debuted in 2013. It's not that old. Just ask Carnival! (Yeah, I know)
  3. I can see why Carnival might think that, but I don't see why a passenger would think that. From a passenger point of view, what's the worst case result of there being too many platinums/diamonds? You only get some of the normal perks if there happens to be too many plat/dia on a particular cruise? I guess it depends on whether the passenger thinks they'll still qualify for whatever status even if higher thresholds are put in place, so the passenger would be less likely to lose priority boarding/tendering on a given cruise under a revised loyalty system.
  4. You may not want them to, and I may not want them to, but we both have to admit from a profit standpoint it makes sense that Carnival might want to encourage those who spend more to cruise more often via their loyalty program.
  5. Are you having any trouble with your wifi connection? You apparently have an internet package, which we didn't 2 weeks ago on Horizon, so that might make a difference. But our Carnival Hub wouldn't stay connected. Every time you took out your phone we had to reconnect, often more than once in each use, no matter where you were on the ship. Our tablemates at dinner had the same problem. (All Android,if that mattered) We did accidentally discover you had a momentary internet connection immediately after signing on each time though, even without an internet package. My wife had signed on and some emails came through and we thought "Wait, how did that happen?" It didn't last long, less than 30 seconds, but if you were trying to load a page or two that was kind of useful.
  6. Right. This wasn't just a few cookies.
  7. We'd did this on our Horizon cruise two weeks ago because we had a long drive planned debarkation day and wanted to beat the crowd. It worked out well. Almost nobody leaving Garage D yet when we exited.
  8. In fairness, there are probably more scooters on cruise ships because it's one of the few easy ways to travel for a person who needs a scooter. I imagine getting in and out of cars and buses makes that type of travel difficult for them.
  9. My initial reaction was that law is ridiculous, but I guess I see the logic to it. Say a Texas bar near the border of a neighboring state with lower liquor taxes buying liquor there to evade the Texas tax.
  10. My wife was at the dessert counter on the Lido, and two women there ask the attendant if there were any more cookies coming out. My wife thought that was strange, because there was still half a bowl of cookies left. A new batch of cookies comes out, and these women pull out Tupperware and Ziploc bags and start loading them up with the cookies! I guess they were taking a supply home? That seems well over the line to me.
  11. Seems unfortunate that they are only available at dinner. You'd be giving up dinner in the dining room that night for some casual bbq or seafood. Which, depending on your personal perspective, may not be a net gain. That type of casual stuff sounds more like a lunch option to me personally. I guess you could have the charcuterie board at Vines before a dining room dinner, but people say it's big and comes with a dessert, so I don't think that's the intent. And those are the only 3 options on CB.
  12. Is it viable to walk from Port of Miami Terminal D, or more accurately the Terminal D garage, to Terminal F? It looks like there is a sidewalk on the garage side of the street, but it ends at Terminal E. On terminals side of the street it looks like there's no sidewalks or crosswalks and you'd be weaving your way between cars and cabs dropping people off at each terminal. Our ship, Carnival Horizon, is departing from Terminal F but returning to terminal D according to the POM website and we'd prefer to have the delay of switching terminals on embarkation day rather than debarkation day.
  13. Has anyone tried to walk it? I'm not sure if it's even practical to walk from where you disembark at terminal D to Garage G. The air photos on Google show a sidewalk from Garage D to in front of Lot E, but then it just ends at a crosswalk into Terminal E. On the terminal side of the road there's no sidewalks or crosswalks. It looks like you'd just be weaving through all the cars coming and going to drop off luggage at each terminal. I was hoping to avoid the shuttle since it seems likely to be slow and we have a 12 hour drive once we get to the car, but maybe there's no other good option.
  14. I'd think one would have to be a seriously heavy drinker to make it worthwhile to buy Cheers for 2 people when only one of them would be drinking. I would think for most people it would cost far less to pay for each drink.
  15. Terminal F parks at Garage G, since F doesn't have it's own parking. Google Maps says it's a 15 minute walk from Terminal D, past Terminals E and F, to get to the garage opposite Terminal G. https://maps.app.goo.gl/WdVGf2a2iBTaYyPZ6 You could park at Surface Lot E (which seems to also go by the name Lot #2), which is between terminals D and F. But if the Terminals D, E, and F passengers are all trying to park in Lot E, it's going to be full. Seems they need to work around Celebration needing to be in the same terminal for her 7 day cruises.
  16. Horizon and Magic are currently doing alternating 6 and 8 day cruises out of Miami. According to the Port Miami website, in recent weeks they've been departing from terminal F for the 8 day Saturday cruises, and returning the following Sunday to terminal D. 6 day cruises do the opposite. How does that work? Do they have a shuttle to the correct parking garage at the end of the cruise? That seems like it would be a mess with everyone trying to get all their luggage onto a shuttle bus.
  17. So if you bet a $25 Funplay chip on red and win, you get 1 regular $25 chip which you can cash in, but still have the $25 Funplay chip which you can't cash, but can play again? Interesting. Thanks.
  18. OK, if you're playing the table games, how does the casino confirm you've made your $25 worth of bets before you cash in whatever remaining chips you may have left? (The slots I assume are all tracked automatically by the computer)
  19. I suppose if we wanted to maximize (but not guarantee) the chance of walking away with something I could put my $25 on black and my wife put hers on red, and it's pretty likely we'd cash $50.
  20. How much do you have to play out of the platinum perk $25 Casino Funplay before you can cash out the remainder and be on your way with a few dollars?
  21. The math could work the other way too. For example, if they are selling 75% of available FTTF slots at $100, that's more profitable than selling 100% of the slots for $50.
  22. What they term a Farmer's Omelet sounds exactly like a Western Omelet to me. (Though it could be I just have a misunderstanding of what is in a Western Omelet)
  23. Thanks. Maybe they inadvertently sent me the suites email instead of the platinum and diamond email I should have gotten.
  24. What change are you referring to? We'd like to drop off our bags, but I don't want to be a jerk about it since the boarding pass clearly says no access until 1;30 even for platinum/diamond. And I have no explanation why we both got that email about being suite guests. Or maybe when they say no access, they mean access to remain in your cabin?
