  1. Even if it was meant that way (despite the post itself saying "Not saying that's bad"), my point still stands. ONE person says something like that, and it gets blown up by so many who are eager to take offense at it, that the comment gets magnified, and people reading the thread start thinking that there are "so many posts" about it, when it was really just one person's comment.

(Meanwhile, the person who made the comment is probably just sitting back watching and laughing at how uptight people got over it. Like I said, I just find it to be a fascinating dynamic.)

It was meant to be offensive and this board community has a way of handling offensive posts w/o the help, aid of a moderator. This thread displays this.

  2. I believe you're correct. Someone mentioned the word "lush", in Post #5 of the thread, in what appeared (at least to me) to be a light-hearted fashion. But all these posts later, there are still some people who seem to have taken it far too personally.

For what it's worth, I find that to be one of the more fascinating things about the discussions here. So many of these type threads devolve into discussions about how judgmental other posters are, when tracing it back, it comes from either one little snide comment or even, as in this case, one comment that may have simply been a self-deprecating joke. But the more people talk about such comments, the more they convince themselves that it's some sort of pervasive and nefarious attitude.

Actually Paul, I read the same post, #5 and immediately thought that the poster was indeed being judgemental and calling out those who bought a package, a 'lush'. It was pretty self evident to me. Later, someone went as far as using the word, "drunk". So yes, for whatever reason, there are those that simply dislike the pricing of RCCL's alcohol, and as a result, they take a negative stance toward other Cruisers that enjoy the choice of an alcohol package purchase. Why, I have no idea but this thread is full of this. I'm surprised that a few cruisers/posters concern themselves so much about what others do or don't do while on a cruise. I base this on my personal views. As long as others are safely enjoying themselves, I'm very happy for them and that they are relaxing and on play time. We all deserve our down time. But in the end, I've never met this type of cruiser while actually on a ship. I'm sure they are there, but they are so outnumbered by the thousands of great people enjoying their cruise. On a message board, they're loud, but on a ship, they're quiet as a mouse.

  3. So, if your on a southern route with stops every day but 1 do those of you that usually purchase drink packages still do so?

We enjoy having a few drinks every day. Since we won't be on the ship during most days; I'm wondering if we won't use it as much as when we had multiple sea days. Thus, making it less of a value. Thoughts?

If you can handle 4 drinks a day... the premium pkg math works out well.

  4.

So myself & 55% of the cruisers are lushes. Nice.

What I find lame in this thread are that some actually are not just reading the thread, but they're posting in the thread.. on a topic that they state has no value to them. That's pretty messed up because it appears that alcohol pkgs has owns more value of their time than their wallet.

    Really weird.

  5. Boy screwed up with his offer. No doubt about it. The kid is going to have to improve his game or he'll be dating magazines.

Girl screwed up telling Mommy/Daddy. Somethings are just not said but rather dealt with. Maybe she's a young drama queen & just wanted a bit of attention.

Unlce screwed up by taking action himself. His best move was to seek and find a bigger kid to do the dirty work of intimidation. But this guy wanted the glory from his family with a 'I'll handle this crap' mentality.

Daddy...screwed up by being there at 2am AFTER he received an apology. He has liability as well for this foolishness.

Bottomline, something had to be done. When RCCL gets the complaint, reviews the tape, sees a grown man drop his pants on a kid, it has to be reported to the local authorities. The police had to make the formal arrest and now it's up to the court system sort this crap out.

  6. 1. A flat rate fee for international calling/texting while on ship.

    2. Inter-active touch screens everywhere to reserve specific meals/menus, dinner tables, shows, self check in, self dis-embark etc.

    3. Non Smoking Ships

    4. Smoking Ships

    5. Helicopter rides from heilport.

    6. Transferable Loyalty program for a cost/fee

    7. Marajuana sales (well maybe not 10 years)

    8. Roller Coasters (someone mentioned this and I think they're spot on)

    9. DirecTV, Dish or some sort in every cabin.

    10. Free Wi-Fi

  7. I'm currently in 3 Roll Calls.

Oct 24th, 2015 sailing currently has 66 screen names signed up and it hasn't been updated since Aug 4th. Keep in mind some of the screen names have 2, 4 and a few have 8+ people sailing with them. It's pretty active w/ 82 pages.

Feb 14th, 2016, sailing currently has 27 screen names signed up and 10 pages. Again, most have 2 or more sailing. I expect more activity as the date moves closer to saildate.

Oct 1, 2016, only 4 screen names and only one page. Very slow But the sailing is a long way off.

I think it has alot to do with the itinerary, sail date and equally important, the posters of the Roll Call. As far as the M&M itself, I feel it's important to just get up and go say hello to someone. After all it's a Meet & Mingle. If one attends for the gifts and/or people watch, I think one's at the wrong function.

  8. Those looked pretty amazing....but I wouldn't want my teenagers within 100 yards of one. Would hate to know the repair costs on those!!!

It's a little weird signing up for a ship where changes are coming but nobody seems to know exactly what they are...glad we are going in June as well!

Heck we signed up before it was even scheduled for dry dock! The Liberty is/was a beautiful ship as it is. These changes are just going to make it even better!

  9. 1388 or 1688 for the cabin - it's as big as a JS. Balcony is great too.

7688 or 7388 for the balcony - it's amazing and even has a side port hole to look out the side of the ship so you get both views. Cabin is standard though.

Which of these two (7th & 10th deck afts) have the better view for the balcony. Are there any obstructed views w/ the structural poles/supports?

  10. What is it you like about the aft cabins? I think I prefer to see the port as we are coming into it but I know you can say you see it as you sail away. What is the draw?

To be honest, I'm not sure! :D Perhaps it's the ship's wake itself. We've always had a hump balcony. Our first JS will be coming up in Oct and then in Feb. Both on the hump. We just wanted something a bit different. I've heard great things about the size of the rooms and balconies of 1388 & 1688. I just couldn't remember the numbers!

    Thanks again Meriom!
