  1. Yes. Not very hard to do these things in 24 hours

    - Check time off of work

    - Check if family wants to come

    - Discuss with spouse

    - check budget

    - Check airfare

    It is very common.

Check for time of work? Some can get this done in 24 hrs. Some can't. And if you can't, you shouldn't be placing courtesy holds anyway. This should be removed from list.

Discuss w/ spouse? This can easily be done prior to booking. This should be removed from the list.

Check budget? SeriouslY? People place courtesy holds on cabins thus tying up inventory when they don't even know if the cruise is in the budget? This should be removed from list.

Check airfare? Airfare changes daily, weekly, monthly. Another, this should be removed from list.

None of these things should be used as excuses and they could easily be handled prior to 'courtsey holds'. There might be a few good reasons to keep the 'courtesy holds' in play, but not for these reasons.

  2. I will add that Sabor also offered the best Margaritas on the Navigator. Absoltely delicious. We'll be on the 2nd sailing of the Liberty after dry dock and hope they add Sabor. We enjoyed it and think the menu, service and dinner was fabulous, but if you don't like Mexican food, you need to pass on Sabor.

  3. Just curious, does it bother you that today's price is higher than what you booked. Or our you like me and don't care

It doesn't bother me. Of course it'd bother me if I was looking to book the same cruise/cabin today. I did notice this... yesterday, RCCL sent me an email with BogoHo-Ho-Ho sale for a holiday sailing for 2015 & 2016. This bothered me. If I booked a 2016 Holiday (16 months out) sailing on the Liberty out of Galveston, the rate would be $1400 more than it was just a month ago. So... I just don't book. Cruise fares are very, very subjective to one's budget and expectations. Some would be happy with the above priced cruise, not so for us. So we move along and wait until we find a cruise and cabin that we're comfortable with.

  4. I would suggest booking next March when the next schedule is released. Works for us

Yep, this is the plan in our household right now. We book as early as possible and we currently have two cruises booked, both have been on the books for 18+ months. And both cruise are currently double the rate from the rate we initially booked.

  5. We booked this cruise for next week via RCCL and then transferred to an online TA - total nightmare.... I've gone through 3 different TA's and still haven't found one with this company that is capable of replying to an email or picking up the phone.

We booked 4 rooms, 12 people total and they're acting like I'm bothering them.

They refused to give us printed amenities listings and when we had a price drop on one of the 4 rooms it was like pulling teeth to get them to call RCCL and have it honored - I've spent more time on the phone with this cruise than I every have before and I'm totally turned off

It's so not worth the OBC that we got (and we got a LOT) - I would give it all back in a heart beat to be allowed to call RCCL and deal with my concerns myself

Unfortunately, you have transferred your cruise to the wrong agency. I suggest that the TA to be screened & selectd prior to the transferring any cruise. There are some wonderful TAs out there and their entire operation revolves around the cruise line industry. Once you have selected a TA, the rest is EZ-P-EZ. Bob has identified the key questions that need to be asked and answers received.

To assist, there is a good website that will help you select a TA based on several things. I can't list it of course, but beleive this. Google is your friend and then surf a bit, you'll find it!

    Best of luck!

  6. I do not have any visible disability, such as needing a wheelchair.

I have a chiweenie that is a great comfort to me. If I have a disability and the dog is used as a means to treat my disability can I bring the little fellow with me? I can buy a service dog vest if that helps.

If the pup is that small, place it in a Rum Runner. The worst that can happen is that you'll get called to the Naughty Room for bringing onboard some Dog Gone Liquor.

  7. Our cruise next month, there are 152 signed up sp far. That's quite a few more as compared to our previous cruises. The Roll Call is pretty active and at this point from several groups. There appear to be quite a few D & D+ with a lot of birthdays & anniversaries. I feel it will be a pretty good M&M.

  8. Try share a shore excursion dot com , we did this and had a fabulous time and a great guide. Someone might have already be seeking others to join them, if not start your own tour and post it on your Roll Call it hopes that others can/will share the excursion to defer the costs. We were picked up in a very nice Mercedes Van and was able to find 3 other couples to join us. The drive was nice as the guide had a microphone w/ speakers that went through the van etc.

We did Pisa and then Florence and back to the ship in plenty of time. Good luck and enjoy your cruise!

  9. So I'm a platinum C&A member with RCCL, since I've been traveling with my parents. This year I decided to book a cruise for a friend and I in JAN16. we made our reservation though a TA who booked it over the phone. everything was great, we made our down payment, got a stateroom, and we were off to the races.

Two weeks later I went in to make another payment, and while the TA was on the phone, she was notified that me and my friend would not be allowed to board the boat. WHAT!?

Turns out that because both me and my friend are under 21 (both 20, turning 21 in 2016) that we won't be allowed to board the ship. The original agent that we dealt with over the phone who took our information, BIRTHDAYS, and payment never bothered to tell us one of us had to be over 21. why does RCCLs booking software even allow them to book the cruise.

We filed a claim with RCCL and were told that we still wouldn't be able to take our cruise. I'm asking here if there is anything else we can do. we are missing the 21yo cutoff by about 3 months. we've already paid for 1/4 of our cruise, made reservations with excursions, and transportation to and from airports. someone please help.

Interesting thread. I was married at 20, the DW was 19. She's still my friend, actually my best friend. Different time back then.

  10. Just so others can get an idea of the balcony situation... this is the RFS balcony on deck 9 of Navigator.

The balcony on deck 10 is right above it... there is no overhang or cover for the balcony below. You can easily see the folks below and I can imagine that the smoke would rise right onto the balcony above.

I wonder what would happen of you ordered dinner in and a plate of spaghetti was aciccidently dropped.

Having said this, I'm a cigar smoker that respects others.

  11. same here, switched to the Barclay's Arriva Plus. yes I pay $89 a year for it, but get 2 points for every dollar spend, not just royal. We charge everything and pay it off every month so the annual fee pays for itself very quickly. Can redeem it for any travel, not just Royal. And when used for travel, they immediately give you 5% of the redemption points back

Other thing I love about the new card is points are instant. The minute I spend the $$, the points show up. When I redeem them it is immediate

Not like Royal where I redeemed the last of my Royal points for OBC months ago and am still waiting for them to get applied to my Oct and Nov cruise. It is a pain to have to keep checking to see if they finally put the points on.

As soon as my final Royal points are done, I will cancel the cards or take them down to the lowest $ limit I can. Will probably just cancel as the hit to my credit score will be minimal. Have not used the Royal cards in months-as soon as I found out they were going to restrict the free companion fares, the card became worthless to me.

I'm interested in the card. How can I determine the number of points needed for a cruise? Can this be determined on the RCL site?
