  1. As mentioned, Sabor is authentic Mexican food vs a TexMex menu. The food is really good. Service was 5 star and they offered 4 different types of Margaritas that were not offered elsewhere on the ship and those margaritas were fabulous. In fact, a few times, I went to Sabor to get a margarita to go and then scooted back over to the Schooner bar.

    But... no dancing etc.

  2. We used shareashoreexcursions.com for most of our ports. We ended up having a great cruise as each port we had different and small groups. It was wonderful as were the guides. I suggest that you look at this site to see if you can find someone that needs others to join in, or perhaps you can do as we did, start your own request to 'share a shore'. It was very effective and worked for us.

Also, hit up your roll call. If there's nothing you can join, creat your own via shar a shore and post it on the roll call. It worked for us!

  3. Thanks, but I don't drink beer. More of a wine or cocktail person, myself.

But I imagine we could have a drink together without argument. This is an internet forum for discussion, which is why people tend to discuss their opinions about these kind of cruise topics. If I'm sitting with you in person, I don't the topic would even come up. It's the implication that those who have an opinion about respecting some kind of rule are busybodies who go around always worrying about what everyone else is doing that is cliche'.

I don't think you should get drinks for other people from a package that is meant for your consumption only.

I think, if it's formal night, and you dine in the MDR, you should dress up for it.

I think only you should occupy a deck chair, not a towel and or book on your behalf.

I think you should only bring on-board the things you're allowed to bring on-board.

I think a number of things like that, and if the subject comes up on a discussion forum, I might share my opinion. But I don't spend a lick of time worrying about any of that, while I'm actually on the cruise.

It's all good. I don't give a flip about it either while I'm cruising. Where we differ is that I don't care on the threads either. Life is too short.

  4. One of the most useless and cliche' responses that gets thrown around here all the time. This is a forum for discussion, which you would think would mean that opinions on various topics are the norm. Yet, when certain people hear an opinion they don't like, they resort to this kind of "I don't care what anyone else does; all I care about is enjoying my vacation" diatribes.

But, it generally makes them feel good about themselves and superior to those who express opinions on things, so I guess it's all good.

Still don't care how you feel and why you feel the way you do. But perhaps one day we can have a beer together and solve the world's problems. I'm buying... I'll have the premium drink package.

  5. Tough crowd here....I buy the package for me.....my wife pays as she goes.....no problems.....no worries....no cheating....

Great response. And this is how we do it on a very busy port crusie. A 3 day port in the Carribean, we both buy the pkg. A 5 day port in 7 days, she doesn't. (She doesn't drink as much as I do)

But to be honest, I don't care what others do. None of that bothers me. To each their own cruise. Likewise, I really don't care what others think about how I choose to cruise. If I wish to buy a drink for my wife or a new cruise friend, I will without considering how & why others feel slighted. It's none of their business.

It's none of my business either if I see or hear about drink sharing. We're all chilling and having a great time. It doesn't make sense to get mixed up and/or involved with how others enjoy their cruise unless it's a direct fringement upon my rights or their rights. It's a catch me if you can mentality for some and some do get caught. It is what it is.

  6. I've only witnessed it once, and just posted about it yesterday:

Thanks for posting this. I think it'd be foolish to sit a one bar rotating drinks between two different people all on one sea pass . Especially in a repeated fashion. Your description shows out right abuse, as such, a bartender would easily catch on. And then she fussed it up and made a scene.

  7. Doubt they would kick anyone off the ship for that, but revoking the package is a different story. I don't think they'd hesitate too much to do that. But I'm not sure why you would expect to "see" that on cruises, even if it's happening. I've seen it reported a few times here, but it's not like they will make a public announcement that "Mr. Goodtime Cruizin for Cabin 8914 has just lost his unlimited drink package for sharing."

Well not having an announcement is a given. But cruise ships are not as large as we all tend to think at times. Especially when one hangs around the pool and the bars. It's crowded. My point is, word travels. I have no knowledge hence the question. Keep in mind, I worded the question as witnessed or heard of. There are a tremendous amount of people on each of the RCL ships today & every day. Unlike you, I've never even heard of someone having their seapass revoked for sharing even on these threads.

  8. Higher revenue from packages I expect

I agree and that's kind of my point. They've figured out that even with 'sharing', they're cleaning up. Something tells me that they have their drinks down to a science. How much of what kind, what type of cruise, what type of ship etc. It would be very easy to analyze.

So this brings me to the next question.

How often have you seen anyone kicked off the ship and/or the beverage package revoked for sharing?

Me... three RCL cruises and nada, zip, & nobody. I think the bartenders do an excellent job but I also think they see it occuring at times & turn their heads unless it's just blatantly obscene and out of control. Which I repeat I've never witnessed nor heard of.

  9. Unless things have recently changed, if you order with pkg, you don't get the glass, if you order w/o the pkg, the price is higher as it covers the glass. I also think the DoD sold by the pool, is in plastic vs those sold inside the promenade at the bars.
  10. Serious question. Be it Alcohol or Soda packages, why?

I don't think I'd drink any less without one. With one, I might order more just to experience or taste something that I normally wouldn't order.

I'm one to believe that while RCL doesn't endorse sharing of alcohol packages, I think they do expect it to occur at a certain level. If they didn't, then why did they back off the ruling of when one buys the pkg, everybody in the cabin must buy one? I also expect eventually that we'll see a 2 for 1 package being offered. The last cruise I booked was on the BOGO50 sale. I'm able to buy one premium pkg and the 2nd pkg is 50% off.

RCL has it figured out folks. They're not losing money.
