When families have put out $$$$ to have a cruise, behaviorally, they use that to justify going instead of cancelling at last minute if they are ill. Unless Carnival is using temperature checks on boarding, a person can probably fake a flu onset or the sniffles.

I was covid positive for at least 17 days - never ran a fever. This is one of those "feel good" measures that will not catch covid.

Thanks so much for your informative posts! a few questions please. How is the cruise director, lee mason? Does he make the funship even ore fun? Is there an interior smoking area other than the casino and is the casino bar still there. Have you noticed the salad selection on the serenity deck? Thank you so much!

We sailed with Lee Mason in 2017 on the east coast. He is very memorable for all the right reasons! We really did enjoy that cruise so much and he is one of the few CD's that we still mention.

NCL made us wash our hands before getting our plates in the buffet, and that was with servers handling everything. Seems like Carnival could do the same, especially with hand sanitizer stations they've always had outside the buffet.

Best advice is to wash your hands before and after. Better than gloves.

I really hate the "washy washy" on NCL. I mean, hate it to the point that it is a factor in booking. I wash my hands with soap and water before I enter the buffet. I have always made a point of not touching surface areas on a ship due to noro - elevator buttons get hit with my elbow, don't hold the handrails, etc. Sanitizer is great when soap and water is not available, but I've seen those people literally run after cruisers to "washy washy".

So an announcement was made tonight. There apparently is something amiss with our engines, that are impacting the ship's maximum cruising speed. We will now be arriving back in Long each at approximate 10:30 am. (unfortunately, all those waiting to board the next cruise will need to be pushed back by an hour or so.  We will arrive in Cabo an hour earlier, but will leave at 2pm (so must be back onboard at 1pm.

This is being discussed on another site with my 9/4 group. The August 28 cruisers have already been told that their check-in times should be moved THREE hours out, their port times will be affected, and that their return into Long Beach on 9/4 will be 10:00am and they should adjust their departure flights accordingly. Looks like this will be an issue into the middle of September.

  5. According to my 9/4 group on another page, cruisers on the 28th have been asked to adjust their arrival time by 3 hours; port times are all being changed and arrival for them back into Long Beach on 9/4 will be 10:00am. Looks like this is going to be a problem for a while. Nothing on my planner has changed yet.

Mark got an email this weekend asking him to bring white pants & shirts for The White Party. So, Panorama is OR will be.  Employee purchase, not reimbursed … in case anybody was wondering…

    Bobbi

Lee Mason did a youtube video a few weeks ago and announced that they would be doing the White Hot party and the 80's party on Panorama, so I know of those two for sure.

Yes I certainly would … like this vlogger did…

That's not the same situation at all. They were not voluntarily quarantining - they were both told to quarantine until their next test. And then they both were negative.

I'm talking about, if on day 2 of the cruise, one passenger tests positive and the other tests negative. They separate the two people and put the positive person in quarantine. The person who is negative is not quarantined and as far as I know is able to move about freely.

It was offered, they declined.  Carnival allowed it.  Weak enforcement.  At the very least the negative passenger should have complied with quarantine voluntarily if he wasn't willing to switch rooms.

The video sounded more like Carnival wanted them to split up and the passengers talked them into letting them stay together. If I remember right, on the Breeze when the family of 4 had two positives and two negatives they were separated - and the negatives were not required to quarantine that I am aware of. I'm sure someone will come here and correct me if I am wrong, but I do not remember them all being together - and their positive was also the last day of the cruise with only one night remaining. And if Carnival is separating them then they are not placing the person who tested negative into quarantine.

As time goes on I'm sure we'll have more real life case studies to see how it's handled.

Exactly. If I had tested positive & the person I was traveling with had tested negative I would at the very least double masked around my travel companion and would have requested to be moved to a separate cabin. She was coughing a lot around him for sure and every time she did I would cringe 😬

Would you quarantine yourself in your own room after they moved your travel companion? Because the husband tested negative and was not required to quarantine, but I believe you were not a fan of him going to get food on debark morning.

We are delighted!  We are booked on Princess for spring break.  No change communicated to us, yet, but reading Carnival's release, our cruise should be fully vaccinated, too.

I'm not sure I would expect the same protocols to be in place for the spring. They certainly may, but current protocols have only been announced through October - expecting November/December protocols out this week.

  11. From "Return to Service FAQs":

Are there any activities and events that won't be offered?

Most of our usual fun activities and events will be offered. However, the following events will be temporarily not available: Seuss-a-palooza Parade, Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast, Photo Time! With Dr. Seuss®, Zumbini® classes, Lip Sync Battle:Carnival, Chef’s Table on Carnival Vista® and Carnival Horizon®, and Behind the Fun Tour.

The low vaccination rate in many other countries are exactly why they don't want unvaccinated tourists.  Why expose more of your citizens to unvaccinated people if you don't have to?

Yeah, I don't buy that. The vast majority of the 5% of exemptions was going to 12 and under (who are still being welcomed to the islands) - I cannot imagine there were more than a dozen or so adults. And I don't also see how this gets squared with the "I want 100% cruises but take me to an island where 8 out of every 10 people are unvaxxed".

  13. I completely believe that every country has the right to make their own rules for their border and bar unvaccinated people from entering for the safety of their citizens.

Would that every country could be that responsible.

However, it's interesting that the Bahamas will not allow a 95% vaccinated cruise to port in their country when their own country is only 17% vaccinated.

First I heard she caught it on a excursion in roatan. Lol I read a rumor she caught it at a large group in cozumel. How would anyone know where she caught it and had symptoms in a day or two? Maybe she caught it on the way to the ship.

Rumor mill is hard at work.

Yes, this is ridiculous thinking. I doubt half of the people who test positive know where they got covid from. I know I got it from my husband - but we have no idea where he got it from. I think most people cannot pinpoint who or where they got it from.

  15. Some people have suggested using nasal spray or a neti pot to help clear out nasal passages after a bout with the virus. I tested positive twice 17 days apart, so it really can run the gamut from a few days to a few weeks. Best of luck to your friends and happy sailing!

I doubt any cruiseline would hint or consider it before sept 20th when they say it becomes available. Usually protocols just hit suddenly. Without warning.

I was under the impression that the booster is not to be taken until 8 months after the 2nd vaccine shot (with the possible exception of immuno-compromised people). If that is the case, then it will be a few more months before most are eligible.
