  1. It makes you wanna cry it's so short, BUT it's so worth it! Lol DH disagrees, but to me, I'd live on a ship if I could, so I'll take any cruise. [emoji924]

So I'll take any cruise. YES for me , it is the same. I know they are short. but there is fun times to be had on a ship even for one long long day!!! :)

  2. Considering a repositioning cruise on the Dawn in January of next year, San Juan to Tampa. In the past I've read about Repo cruises being "Different" Not really sure what that means, we have sailed on the Dawn from Tampa and like the ship. She was a little warn out but has since gone through refurbishment

I have been on Repo Cruises. I think it all depends on someone's attitude about things. I think you can enjoy the cruise no matter if it is slightly different(whatever that means). After all its YOUR vacation..

    :) enjoy your cruise.

  3. Possible itinerary....

    • 8am enjoy and savior your last cruise breakfast.
    • 9:20 walk off the ship when the worst of the crowds have gone.
    • 9:30am grab luggage to clear customs and look for CDS luggage.
    • 9:50am after leaving your luggage at the cruise terminal with CDS.... go up to the street to catch the free Capilano Suspension Bridge shuttle
    • 10:30am arrive at Capilano to enjoy the bridges
    • 12pm return to downtown on the free Capilano shuttle. However, asked to be dropped off at the Westin Bayshore which is closest to the park.
    • 12:30 arrive at the Westin to walk west into the Park.
    • 1pm arrive inside the park.... Totems? Aquarium? Heritage mini train? Prospect point? Lots to do in the park.
    • 3pm public transit or call a taxi to leave the park. Need to get back to the cruise terminal before they close at 4pm with retrieve luggage.
    • 4pm taxi with luggage to the airport
    • 4:45pm arrival.... they ask you to be 3 hours preflight at airport for check-in, customs, and security searches (hand, body, carry-ons, luggage, liquids, weapons, ULU's, and WMD's).
    • 8pm wheels up with dreams on your next return to Vancouver because you didn't budget enough extra days for your bonus port.

love this idea. do you live in vancouver or just a visitor yourself?

  4. I happily volunteer to join the Voyager again to teach art classes! They were so well-attended, fun and provided not only a great way to spend time on sea days, they were perfect venue for meeting fellow guests. We created art and life-long friendships!

    Marcia

I am interested in the art instruction.

Are you a "passenger" that has gotten permission to use some space to volunteer to teach?

You are not hired by the cruise line?

are these cruises longer than 7 days?

  5. I'm going to bring most of the ingredients for my smoothies with me. I'm sure they will have frozen strawberries or blackberries on board - and a blender. I will check with their customer care to see if they will use the ingredients that I bring.

I'm just going to have to visit the kitchen as soon as I get on board to make arrangements. It'll all work out - it will just be a project in the beginning.

Did you bring the blender for your smoothies? how did that go over?

  6. I create a breakfast bowl at the buffet. Scrambled eggs (they are otherwise inedible), hash browns, crumbled sausage, grilled onions and peppers (from the sausage conconction), tomatoes, fresh pico, melted cheese, and salsa.

    bacon and cheese fries.

I've gotten fish, taken off the breading, and then headed down to the BI. Asked for tortillas (they'll give you about 4) and made my own fish tacos with all the condiments in the salsa bar, better than the fish they use at BI.

I take chick peas, kidney beans and possibly crispy noodles with raisins and sunflower seeds and mix it all together as a side dish at lunch.

shredded lettuce , shrimp or chicken .. or both!!!!! then toss in some peppers, tomato, onion LOw cal lunch..

Root Beer or Orange Floats. Either bring the soda with you or get it onboard.

Chili Cheese fries at the regular grill.

any one have other great ideas?

  7. I think I would ask a Travel Agent. I usually follow the prices for a cruise for a while to see what the typical price is.

The way I would make the decision for myself is asking myself

"do i want the extra space that much?"

but that is just me. good luck with the decision. hope your parents have a wonderful time.

  8. DESSERTS

    Dark Chocolate Crémeux

Toasted Hazelnut Feuilletine, Burnt Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

Common sense says you don't serve pudding with ice cream. And a cremeaux is essentially a very thick, rich pudding.

Common sense is no damn fun. This is insanely delicious. Smoky chocolate, smoke notes in the vanilla, and a wafer-thin crisp cookie garnish. This was a plate-licker. As good as the Norman Love desserts are, this is superior. Best plated dessert I've had on any ship of any line, ever, bar none.

    Ricotta Fritters

Spiced Pear Rum Compote, Crème Fraiche Ice Cream

You mean made-to-order tiny donut holes. Tim Horton could learn something here. The galley crew is currently filling my bathtub with the ice cream and compote so that I can eat my prodigious weight in this. The pears are ethereal and provide a counterpoint to the lactic tang of the ice cream.

    Tarte au Citron Vert

    Raspberry, Meringue, Granola

It's a three-bite lemon tart with a short crust, garnished with freeze-dried raspberry and soft meringue. What makes it worth talking about is how good it is. Not cloying, not bitter. I've spent $11 for less-impressive lemon tarts.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like a good dinner.

  9. Just got back from a very short southbound coastal cruise on the ruby princess. First of all, I am used to sailing either may or September on these coastals. It was pretty chilly in Vancouver b c on Monday December 14. On the ship, it was a bit choppy thru the ebpntrance to the puget sound. For a bit through Washington coast to the Columbia river you could feel a bit of sway. Not bad, but you knew it was there. Ship is in nice condition. New pub experience in "salty dog" the wheel house appears more modern in part of it. New jewelry boutique opened. A great trip. I would go again. But in this month bring a winter jacket, gloves, hat, scarf if you want to be out on deck. Fun Zumba class lead by assistant cruise director. Nice.

    Keep those coastals !!

  10. Before I throw this out, I thought I better post it in case someone wants to take a look at it:

    ALPHABET SOUP

Pasta letters swimming in a sea of chicken broth

    GARDEN SALAD

The Power Rangers flex their muscles on the greens plucked from the Princess vegetable patch

    SPAGHETTI SNAKES

Slippery, slithering rattler noodles with meat balls and tomato sauce

    HIGH SEAS HOT DOG

A real "Wiener"! Our plump, 100% beef hot dog is served on a bun with all the condiments, including coleslaw, potato chips or steak fries

    BUCCANEER BURGER

The juiciest quarter pounder afloat. Served plain or with chesse and a big side order of French fries

    CHICK-CHICK-CHICKEN FINGERS

A hands-down favorite at Princess Cruises dipped in BBQ sauce or ranch dressing

    FISH STICKS

Swords from the sea wage a winning battle with ketchup or a creamy tartar sauce and a heap of shoestring potatoes

    LOVE BOAT VOLCANO

A mountain of ice cream erupting with heaps of hot fudge, sliced banana and whipped cream with a bright red cherry on top

    CRUISE CHIPS

A delicious, chewy cookie packed full of rich chunks of chocolate to be scarfed down by themselves or as a sandwich with vanilla ice cream

    FRUIT SALAD

The fresh, juicy colorful mix that makes Barney big, strong and happy

ORANGE JUICE, APPLE JUICE, OR A GLASS OF "MOO" (We have chocolate syrup too....)

    Thank you for this..

  11. It's very common. I have 2 European cruises booked for next September. I know which one I'm doing (see below!) but not changing the other one until Fall 2017 cruises open up in spring.

    Hi there,

Just curious, why are you waiting to see what fall 2017 cruises open up before cancelling one of your september 2016 cruises?

    thanks.
