Yes, you are right, it doesn't apply to a "close loop" cruise. But, I'll be bringing my passport.

Quite a few of the countries I've been to, even if you don't need a visa (US passport).

BTW, if you're in a suite, they have coffee machines.

They are reasonable. Yes, I believe RCI will let you bring a case of water on board. Personally, I have enough luggage to carry and don't want to lug a case of water around.

General rule is your passport cannot expire within 60 days of the commencement of your travel. Better to be 90+ days.

You don't need a drink plan if you're just going to drink water and coffee. You can purchase a number of bottles of water on the first day or pre-order. Coffee is available all the time in Sorrento and all the different dining rooms for free.
The ship will announce the formal nights after you board. You should have dinner in the MDR (main dining room) on those nights. Otherwise, Windjammer (the buffet) is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; check the hours inboard your ship.

We're sailing on that day too! If you haven't done so already, you can book your specialty restaurants and shore excursions. Pick up a copy of the Compass, walk around the Promenade, Broadwalk and Central Park; you will be spending a lot of time in those areas. Before you know it, it'll be time to go to your room!

It happened to us and we were past the final payment date. I called up customer service and they upgraded me to the next category. It was nice of them. Just tell them you're a C&A member and you just love RCI!

My BH & I are booked on the Allure for this July, but we are already planning our Mediterranean sailing on July 26, 2015. We booked the Barcelona sailing as I wanted a more leisurely trip since we will be sailing with up to four of our grown kids!

We didn't use the valet service, but the normal luggage cutoff time is 11PM the night before.
