  1. My wife just got her Open Water PADI certification during our B2B Christmas cruise on Oasis. She did all her "book" work in about 6 hours spread over 2-3 days while she was getting a tan on our balcony using an iPad provided by Dive center. There was one long and one short class session. 2 pool dives (one in lap pool and one in Aqua Theater pool) from 6:30AM-10:30AM. Then there were 2 open water dives (4 sessions, one boat and one shore) during two different ports.

She had so much fun and her instructors were great! Cost was $575 including everything except mask & snorkel.

I don't think she would have done the certification on a one week cruise. But on a B2B, the certification course really didn't affect our enjoyment of the cruise at all. Can't wait to dive with her on our next cruise in February!

  2. When we had a Jr Suite, there was enough shampoo, but never enough conditioner if you have long hair. I always pack my own conditioner.

My wife has very long hair, almost waist level, I always ask our room stewards for more toiletries and they have always come through.

  3. Not to belabor the issue, but I do not wear my pin every day. I do, however, wear my C&A logo necklace frequently, so if the bling bothers you, be forewarned.

(If you are also a lanyard-hater, I wear my seapass card on a lanyard while ashore, so I do not hold up the line returning to the ship while I dig into my bag to find it.)

Bling is fine and it adds to your personality.

  4. Well isn't that so special! You will just brag about sailing only in suites instead.

No, we sail in suites because we enjoy the amenities. We never tell anyone on board we sail in a suite. Unlike Pinnacle members who have to wear their pins everywhere and all the time.

All the snobbish Pinnacles we have encountered wears their pins. BUT, not all Pinnacles are snobs.

  5. Let me ask a question on this thread:

Is it required for Pinnacle members to wear their name tags everywhere and every day?

From observations from our last 3 cruises on Oasis, those who wears their pin everyday are really snobbish. Yet, we met a few Pinnacles (without pins) who are really nice. On our Thanksgiving cruise, there were a group of Pinnacles who held "court" in SL who behaved like they "owned" the place!

  6. Did I miss a thread about the laundry price going up to $35 (item 1203). The welcome letter in the cabin says $35 and the mid cruise offer says $35, but the printed list of discounts (obtained form a bartender) still said $30.

I will post after we do laundry later this week.
