  1. We did a B2B on Harmony last month, we went to Chops twice during the first week and both times, we had to send something back; first time it was over cooked lobster, second time, it was over cooked steaks (both steaks). We cancelled our Chops reservation for the second week.

I understand that Chops was going to change its menu during our second week, but this didn't happen because the new menu items were not ready. I don't know if the upcoming menu change had any effect on the poor food quality we experienced. Harmony's Chops was the worst we have experienced in our 10 cruises over last 3 years on Royal.

  2. Thanks! I look forward to your reviews. I chose 1718 over 1720 because of the private balcony.

I am not looking for anything extravagant for a "party", just some beer, wine, veggies & dip, maybe a meat platter or small sandwiches, and some sweets. It would probably be a pre-dinner or post show get together. I am envisioning less than 20 people. There isn't a roll call for the sailing yet, if I end up with a CC party, that could be different. Hopefully someone in a bigger suite will be able to host that.

We were in that suite in April. The whole experience was great! Our Genie (Smitha) was excellent. She pretty much got us whatever we wanted. If you have specific questions, let me know.

  3. Do self disembarkation, line up around 6:30-7:00. Pre-arrange shuttle for pickup around 8 (I have used Cortrans before, they are very reliable) and you should be in MCO by 8:45. Hopefully you are not flying SWA (I've seen their TSA line to be 1-1/2hr long). Get TSA Pre☑️ and you should be fine.

  4. How could it fade when it's not routine. None of my cruises have been the same. The itineraries may be the same, but the people you meet and the crew you interact with will change. The weather will be different. The seas will behave differently.

When I get tired of cruising, I'll be tired of life. And, that will never happen after I've been given a second chance!!

  5. CATS is hard to get through if you are not a fan (over 2Hrs long and takes a long time to develop story). Most people leave at intermission, but they are missing the best part. Go during intermission and you will get great seats (no need for reservations) and you will also see the best parts.

  6. Port Everglades is 15 minutes from Ft. Lauderdale airport. Port Canaveral is 45+ minutes from Orlando Airport. The show Cats is on Oasis and Mama Mia is on Allure. Otherwise, they are both the same and they have same itineraries. We have only had great cruises on both ship.

  7. Our Star Class experience in Oasis is completely different from what I've heard here. From the moment we arrived at the curb at PC, we were treated like royalty. As soon as we found the Star Class sign at the curb, our luggage was taken from us by a porter and we were walked through a dedicated security line with our porter in tow. After security, our luggage disappeared, but our luggage was in our Suite before we even got to the Suite!

We will be sailing from PE this Thanksgiving in another Star Class Suite, I'm expecting the same great experience we had in April.

  8. None of your ports will require long pants or collared shirts. I find most European ports are OK with shorts, T's and comfortable walking sandals.

The only time you will need long pants and collared shirt is for formal night onboard ship and I can get away with a "zip off cargo pants that can do double duty as shorts".

  9. If Star class includes tips why do feel its necessary to tip the Genie?

It's not necessary, it's an appreciation of the "above and beyond" service you received. If you don't think the Genie went the extra mile, then you are not required to tip.

  10. Not a party thrower ;).

Free room service - may use once but at $7.95 over the course of a week and what you'd save not a huge benefit. Would rather have free specialty dining like Oasis class star class.

Priority departure, on the ships that still have CL you get that as D+ anyway.

Luggage valet, flights need to be later in the day we get straight off and fly early or drive so don't use.

Breakfast in chops, may use once a week.

Gold card - reserved seating which you get at shows as D+ anyway. Not interested in the poor locations of the reserved "poolside" seating. Normally nowhere near the pool with no shade.

Now if the suites got free internet, beverage packages and free specialty dining and a butler or genie I might feel like I was actually getting something :)

I agree they have upped the game Oasis/Quantum class but the rest of the fleet it is still pretty poor benefits in comparison.

But the suites on the other classes don't cost nearly as much.

  11. I don't have a problem with the reserved seats. I do, however, have a problem with people saving rows of seats for friends and family. You see empty seats, sit down, and somebody stands up at the end of the row and is snarky and tells you this row is saved. The staff just took us to the reserved section and had us wait then told us we could have a seat. Funny thing, the held seats didn't all show up. Doesn't matter. I saw the show, had a good time, and went on my way. Lesson learned was get there earlier next time.

On our July cruise on Harmony, there was announcements in the Royal Theater, by the crew, telling people they cannot save more than 3 seats.
