I think that would be Kingsford Smith Drive. Southern Cross Way goes north between Eagle Farm and Nudgee. The Doomben train does run on Saturdays, but not on Sundays. There is a 303 bus on week days which will take you from Doomben station, via Portside, almost to the cruise terminal gates, but it only runs before 8:00am. Unfortunately, there is no way to walk into the cruise terminal.

I have friends and relatives from the Northern Rivers who accessed the Gold Coast Hospital throughout the lockdowns and border closures. They needed permits, which were easy to get, but anyone transporting them had to remain in the car. NSW has been very slack with hospital access in the Northern Rivers. The existence of the Gold Coast Hospital allowed them to be. But the hospital capacity was built with the population of the Gold Coast in mind, not that plus the Northern Rivers area. At least after all these years the NSW government is finally building the Tweed Valley Hospital at Kingscliff.

I don't understand the rationale. All the Premiers lifted restrictions as soon as they could, probably sooner than they should have. There's no benefit for Premiers going back to lockdowns and mandates except to slow down the death rate. Which was the only reason they existed in the first place. Every indication is that you'd have to drag them kicking and screaming to implement new lockdowns.
