I checked in roughly a week ago for our 10/31 cruise (gty) and am getting the same thing.  So if you just checked in, sit back because it may be a while.  Planner control me is annoyed, but logical me knows that it will not stop me from getting on the ship lol

Ok, I am sitting back - planner control me is annoyed too! I want those luggage tags printed in pretty color and inserted into the plastic luggage tag holders bought specifically for this purpose 😉

  2. I am annoyed this is happening to all of us, but glad it's not just me!

I'm all checked in for my Explorer cruise on November 6th (yes I am the keener that waits up until 12:01 and checks in the literal second it opens lol, don't judge!)  I checked in on the app.

When I went into my account on my laptop today, intending to print out the set sail pass (yes I know I don't need to print it, I just like to) and also print out my luggage tags, I got the white screen with the little cirlcly thing that ultimately said "the information you are trying to access is currently unavailable, please try again later". I really hope this gets resolved - I don't want to be filling out the luggage tags at the port and - I have those cute plastic luggage tag holders and I want to use them! 😃

    Success!!!
45 days from our alaska cruise, on Radiance of the Seas.

Doing online check in I noticed on the 1 inside cabin in our group of 6 cabins, a new room number assigned overnight!?!?

    Here are the details.

Original inside cabin cost $688/ person incl taxes, fees etc.

minimum Royal up offer to balcony was $200, bid $250.

Got Balcony today, 45 days before sailing. Very happy.

Maybe of interest to some people here.

Our other 5 cabins were a primo Balcony on the hump with extended balcony, so no Royal up wanted or attempted.

3 cabins, we’re booked in Balcony’s but a few weeks ago I noticed Suite Guarantee rate that was cheaper than 2 of the later booked cabins and on one balcony (Mine) booked 2 years ago at a stupid cheap rate (Thanks COVID/ Lift n Shift) so I paid addl $450 to change to Suite Guarantee.

5th cabin was originally booked as an Inside, but decided to spend $$ to go to Suite Guarantee. NONE of these 5 cabins attempted Royal up.

This morning during 45 day online checking and using “barcode trick”

    here are our results….

2 of us got Junior Suites, and other 2 hit the jackpot and are assigned Grand Suites.
    we are All happy!

    What's the barcode trick?

  4. I received the offer via email a few days ago, and bid on every suite category.  I am currently in an Ocean View balcony (did not bid on a Spacious OV balcony).  I am b2b on Explorer and have to switch cabins for week 2 anyways, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bid at all (I really wanted the same cabin for both weeks but couldn't get it).  I am solo in my cabin and know I will have to pay double if my bid is accepted.

Cruising with 2 friends who did not receive the offer to upgrade their cabin. I am wondering how people are chosen to receive the offer, or is it just random? Does C & A status have anything to do with it? I am D+ with almost 600 points.

Excited to see what happens.....although I know I may not find out till the last minute!

You can't make that conclusion based on this thread.  When masks were mandatory, there were still people coming home with it from cruises, flights, etc.  I've also seen posts by people who wore masks and caught it.   As I said, we never wear masks and we haven't caught it in 5 cruises and 5 beach vacations where we eat out every meal.

There are some people who are just super immune - and you may be one of them! There are studies going on right now to determine why some people get covid and others just don't. My daughter got covid and during her most infectious days (the 24-48 hours before her positive test) we were in very close proximity (she lives with us) and we shared food and drink. I did not test positive.....some will get it, some won't......

It makes a difference IMO.  I have read most of this thread, and what's missing is no one seems to be saying they tested positive after wearing a mask in the airport, on the plane, inside the cruise ship, inside buildings in port, and rinse/repeat going home.

This is what I have done since mid-January to mid-May I have flown 18 times one way, with all trips having stopovers, so that's at least 3 airports in 9 roundtrips.  I was on 3 cruise ships for a total of 58 days, and two trips were to see family with small unvaccinated children the first trip.

I've taken 21 COVID tests between my personal ones and those provided by the ships on consecutive cruises.

Countless ports and inside venues.  Exposure to literally thousands of people.

So, that's an complete inventory of my exposure, which was very high.

All COVID tests were negative (double vaxxed and double boosted).

The difference from the people getting COVID?  I consistently wore a mask. Outside, no.  With known other passengers who were vaccinated, no.  Mostly vaccinated family members, no.

To me it's just a basic policy:  if I'm inside somewhere with strangers who I don't KNOW they've been vaccinated (having a lower possibility of contracting the virus; NOT immune), then I wear a mask.  When I fly I never take it off except to eat or drink. I put it on when I walk in the airport, and take it off when I walk into my hotel room or get in my family's car.

My point is if one is not consistent, then one is exposed.  I finally found that I could fly and NOT come down with a respiratory infection:  something that happened almost 100% of the time before I wore masks.

Just an explanation; just my opinion; everyone should make their own decisions.  I just don't like being sick.  Period.

This is a great post and mirrors exactly what I do. I cruised in late June, wore my mask in all indoor spaces (except to eat, with my friend who also masked the same way I did) and I did not get Covid. I have a b2b on Explorer in early November and will do the exact same thing. I don't find wearing a mask indoors a big deal - I wear one at malls and grocery stores at home anyways. At this point we all need to do what we are comfortable with, in order to stay safe.

If they aren't going to allow people to bring toppers they need to get better mattresses.

We have used a king from Walmart for around $40. Checked it in with a luggage tag, in the box. Left it on the ship.  It went around the edges a bit but the sheet held it down/in.  I'm sure 2 twins would work too.

The reason I haven't invested in the blow up ones is because they are too narrow. I've measured and I think I'd feel like I was rolling off of them.

You're right, they are narrow - at least the single ones are. You can buy a double which is still super light to carry and would fit the beds pulled together very well.

I bring a Klymit blow up sleeping pad which is the only thing that allows me to tolerate the torture slabs they call Royal King beds.
It’s easy to transport (Rolls up to about the size of a mayonnaise jar) and doesn’t weigh a lot.

I have one of these too and they are great!  If I arrive at the port city a day early I hit up a Walmart for the foam topper (which I prefer), but I always bring my Klymit just in case!!

We usually do not have any problems with the mattresses on royal, but we are currently on explorer and I feel like I’m sleeping on a hard rock  (that’s not in exaggeration). We have a new cruise acquaintance  onboard who recently had back surgery and he has had to take a pain pill each morning to cope due to the hard mattress. They no longer have the egg crate variety toppers, but they are putting a comforter as a mattress topper when a topper is requested (at least on Explorer). It isn’t  great, but it’s something.

I am on a b2b on Explorer in November and will be bringing my own proper egg crate mattress topper. I have done this on previous cruises and slept very well.
