  1. We are considering taking our first cruise this summer on Freedom of the Seas. All the photos I see for balcony cabins show a sofa but when I do a mock booking it seems that the E1 cabins only have the Pullmans in a room for 3. Can someone tell me where the extra bed is located? If you have a photo of the room made up with the bed down that would be great.

    Thank you in advance.

  2. My husband (43), son (9) and I (45) had a great time on our 11/23 cruise on Carnival Liberty. This was my 4th cruise but a first for both my husband and son. Embarkation was fast and simple at Port Canaveral. We used VIP Limo from Orlando airport they were late picking us up but we still arrived at the pier by 10:30. There was no one in front of us so we had our sign and sail cards in hand quickly and after a short 15 minute wait we were able to board.

We had balcony cabin 6331 on the Upper deck. This was a great room and we never heard any noise from the deck below. The cabin was much bigger than I expected with plenty of space in the closet for all of our things. Our room steward was great and always seemed to magically know when we were out of the cabin as our room was always made up by 9:00am and again by 8:00pm. My son loved the towel animals and looked forward to seeing what new animal would be waiting every night.

My son doesn’t drink soda so we didn’t get the bottomless bubbles and we opted not to do Cheers. We only spent $400 between drinks, wine package with dinner, and trips to the arcade for my son so Cheers would not have been a good value for us.

Even though we didn’t book until October we were still able to get Anytime dinning which worked best for my family. Our headwaiter was Luka and he and his team were so good we asked for them every night. They always greeted us with a smile (even when we saw them at breakfast or lunch) and always remembered my son’s preferences. Luka even noticed my son trying to make fancy napkin folds and took the time to show him how to make a hat with his napkin. We enjoyed the menu in the main dining room and never walked away hungry. There were some items that we liked better (conch fritters, flatbread, rabbit, steak, lamb) and some things we didn’t care for (pumpkin soup). We did the buffet breakfast and lunch. Both were just ok. Omelets were great but nothing else really appealed to us at breakfast as items on the buffet always seemed cold. For lunch the Mongolian station was great if you didn’t mind the wait as were Guys burgers and the Cantina. I did try the Fish and Chips once and it was ok but not worth trying again.

Debarkation was just as easy, we chose to take our bags off ourselves and were off the ship by 9:00am. Customs was fast with only a handful of people in front of us.

My family generally takes to vacations a year to an All Inclusive in Mexico, when I asked about this summer both my husband and son said they want to do another cruise instead of going back to Mexico so I would say for us, this trip was a huge success.

  3. This is a dumb question and I know I should know the answer but do we put the carnival luggage tags on after we land or can we put them on before hand without confusing the airline baggage handler.

  4. We plan to stop and pick up water to bring on board with us. I have read Carnival's rules and I understand we can bring 12 20oz bottles of water per person. My question is, is that in addition to the bottle of wine each adult can carry on or is it one or the other?

    Thank you

  5. I see Carnival offers an excursion called "Native Quest" in Nassau that sounds like it might be fun for my 9yo son but there are no reviews. I looked & posted under Ports of Call and didn't see anything on this excursion. Has any one tried this and if so what are your thoughts.

    Thank you

  6. I want to carry on our 2 bottles of wine. My original plan was to stop and buy some on the way from the airport but we arrive on Sunday morning at 9am so nothing will be open and selling wine. What is the best way to pack the wine bottles so they arrive safe (I will transfer them from suitcase to carryon when I arrive).

I purchased these wine diapers to put the bottels in before packing so even if they break my things stay clean and dry but someone suggested that having that much liqued in my suitcase could get it pulled from the plane.

    All ideas welcome

  7. We will be on the Liberty Nov 23 - 28th. Our flight home out of MCO is 1:45pm. Do we have time to stop at Kennedy Space Center for 1-2 hours before getting to the airport or do you think we will be cutting it to close?

The other alternative is to stop before boarding the ship on the 23rd as our flight lands at 9am.

We have FFTF if it makes a difference and we are not using carnival transfers.
