We also bring our sons (9) iPad loaded with movies for him. It helps keep him occupied while we are getting ready or just before bed when I need him to start settling down. There is always a family movie on the tv but its the same one for 24 hours and not always something he's interested in.
I also bring cards and/or spot it to play. It doesnt take up much room and we can always pull it out while waiting for a show to start.

It was a little after 11 Thanksgiving week. We arrived around 10:30 and didn't wait long.

We stopped at Amber Cove last month. I don't have any photos but I enjoyed relaxing at the pool. There weren't many stores open then but it looks like the standard port shops.
Not surprisng since Amber Cove is still new, but everything was clean at the pool and the service was wonderfull. We were the only ship in port so the pool wasn't crowded and could have easily accomodated more people.

Does anyone know if you can access and watch things from You Tube using the new Internet packages. I thought I read you couldn't access streaming sites like Netflix but I wasnt sure about You Tube.

Interesting. We are a family of and have never been asked if we want to sit with others. Maybe the hostess has just assumed that we wouldnt be interested.

Wow, I didnt realize the Splendor had a history of so many problems. We leave on her Sunday. I hop everything goes smoothly.

I used gift cards on my last 2 cruises (Liberty and Valor) and had no trouble applying them. On the Liberty I applied them at guest services and on the Valor I used the kiosk. Both times I had less then $100 left and received a check in the mail. I plan to use them again this trip.

I will be on the SPlendor November 22 so I can check for you while we are there.

I occasionally heard the "ding" but I had to be standing near the door to hear it.

Occasionaly we have had to be flexible with our seating for the 8:30 show. This means not always having the best view or sharing tables with other people.
-
We always check out our cabin first (we have FTTF) and then had up to the Lido deck for lunch before things get to crowded.
-
We easily spend that on drinks.

I have never had a problem using my gift card to pay for my cruise. I was just able to get another $500 just now that I plan to use to pay for my trips next year.

I would guess they are. Even in hotel rooms I think they are loud.

Thank you all. I will book while on board.

I have never had a problem arriving early.

We sailed on the Liberty last Thanksgiving and will be on the Splendor this Thanksgiving. No special activities that I recall. Some people did decorate their doors with Thanksgiving themed decorations.

The burrito bar on the Valor was not open for breakfast. It became an omelette station in the mornings.

If we book next years trip at the Future Cruise Desk is that considered Early Saver or would we not be elgible for price drops? We would be booking 12 months out.
I'm trying to decided if we should bother visiting the future cruise desk while on our upcoming trip.

One of the reasons we select Carnival is the more relaxed dress code.

I never have but my mother's doctor recommended that she take them.

We usually get the cheapest package and have always enjoyed the wine selection. We might upgrade to the middle package this trip.

People were recomending Mel Tours on trip advisor. I e-mailed them and they confirmed they will support Amnber Cove. They responded to my e-mail within 24 hours and it looks like they have a nice selection of tours.

I would also recommend checking on line multiple times a day. We were waitlisted for our upcoming November trip and with frequent checking we were able to confirm.
2 Category Upgrade

I am currently booked ES in an aft extended balcony. There are only 3 aft extended balcony cabins left for my sailing. I did a price check today and see that the current ES fare is offering onboard credit which for my family would equal $75 and a 2 category upgrade while the price of the cabin stays the same. My guess is that there really isnt anywhere to upgrade us since it says like for like. I wouldnt mind he $75 credit but I dont want to give up my cabin. Does my thinking make sense?
