  1. Terry how many guests 'made' the voyage? Is the Moon sailing at capacity or did a lot of folks cancel?
  2. No just hoping that Silversea was living up to its reputation and providing equivalent to what we expect at sea. We are taking the same cruise (but reverse) in May and I suspect ours won't even sail. Good luck with the rest of your journey!
  3. Are Silversea providing unlimited drinks at the hotel bars? What about champagne? Is that included in their promised luxury?
  4. Is this fact or speculation? I wouldn't mind booking the Capetown-Barcelona leg if it was made available.
  5. Are there any instances where OBC is refundable? What if your agent purchases onboard credit for you?
  6. Interesting. We just took our first Azamara cruise and I thought the food in the main dining room was very average at best. The buffet restaurant was a disgrace-I think Carnival would have had better offerings. The only good food to be had was at the two upcharge venues. I totally understand why the suite guests never ventured anywhere else as those restaurants were included for them. We had some friends that were in a suite and they mentioned they wouldn't sail on Azamara if it wasn't for Prime C and Aqualina. I tend to agree.
  7. Silver Spirit no longer showing for sale/itineraries from 26 Feb to 29 March. Silver Whisper no longer for sale from 3 March to 10 May. Maybe they are about to announce something. Silver Moon however is still listed for sale including Suez trips...
  8. I give it a 0% probability that this Whisper cruise or the one prior go ahead. The Silver Moon (which we are on) will also have to cancel both Singapore-Mumbai and Mumbai-Athens in May to get to the Med on time-yet silence from Silversea! I highly doubt they have plans to reroute with passengers as much as I would prefer this option. It is too complicated for them and they probably have determined (maybe erroneously) that few would want that many sea days. Instead while management procrastinates, SS has made all their guests unhappy by delaying the inevitable and making sure that none of us can make alternative arrangements.
  9. Well my view is contrarian. We took our daughter when she was 18 months old on Seabourn and often went to dinner without her. Originally we paid staff to babysit, but they said all she did was sleep, so instead we checked routinely and so did the stateroom attendants. We did this for many years with no issue, no crying, no monitor. She grew up fine (better than her parents at trivia), still occasionally sails with us and is about to graduate with her Phd...
  10. Actually they could not do this. Silversea would have had to refund at a minimum and some guests would have preferred this option. Also travel insurance does not cover ACTS OF WAR-this is stated in the policy wording.
  11. The Trident may be a nice hotel, but at around $230 per night does not equate to missing 3 nights of a luxury cruise. Even with food, this is not a comparable 'swap.' Has SS offered any other compensation?
  12. Moon at 16kts last I checked so certainly not in a hurry. Colombo embarkation is now gone so I suspect she may be headed directly to Singapore after Cape Town... I wonder if the same will be true on her return? Singapore-Mumbai and Mumbai-Athens both cancelled for a slow empty sailing from Singapore to Athens?
  13. They probably won't have 600 pax joining, especially when they revise the itinerary and some cancel. Also, many are probably on DTD so those people will just get rerouted. However, they could probably charter a jet for the remaining people. They are going to have to compensate people for the lost days anyway, not to mention hotel accommodation/food in Mumbai starting on the 11th.
  14. Or they head for Colombo and start the cruise there on the 17th like I speculated earlier. Why would they start selling this new leg otherwise?
  15. Actually the distance is 889nm and 2 days 4 hours sailing at 17knots so a significant time savings to start from Colombo. Of course I am just speculating based on this new cruise option.
  16. I believe that Silver Moon may head straight to Colombo and the cruise will start there. Colombo-Singapore starting on the 17th of Feb is now listed for sale-not sure it was before. Also Colombo would be a much shorter distance for the Moon to sail to.
  17. The same with us, but do you think Silversea is just going to cancel the last two Silver Moon cruises in May and sail back empty again? It seems like a wasted opportunity.
  18. This is a totally different scenario where your cruise is not until May 2025. You also get to keep your deposit. Redrob is saying lose the entire value of the cruise and take the 20% off a future cruise in 2024 or get a refund. I predict the offer is for both and the Sydney office is out enjoying the summer heat a little too much.
  19. The Sydney SS office must be on drugs! Who would lose their full cruise fare on a cancelled voyage for a 20% discount off of another that must be used in 2024! The fact that the Aussie office would even state this without confirming with US operations is totally unprofessional.
  20. On the ship location sites, Silver Moon's destination is showing Valletta with an ETA of 1800 on Jan 17th. I wonder if SS is planning to scrap the entire Asia deployment and just stay in Europe? It wouldn't be surprising, especially if they decide to offer little to no compensation to guests. It might actually save them money to lay up the ship for a few months and send the crew home.
  21. That is pretty lousy for cancelling 12 days out. I hope you contact someone higher up at SS and let them know your feelings.
  22. I had a great cruise on Spirit earlier this year. The staff were wonderful. The only negative is Indochine which we did not like. Much prefer SALT on the newer ships.
  23. Is the Dubai-Athens cruise April 3rd likely to go ahead?? What sort of compensation can we expect if they cancel the cruise and sail empty or alternatively reroute around Africa? Do you think routing around Africa is even a consideration for SB? I wouldn't mind the reroute if it took in a few interesting ports along the way.
  24. To be honest, the Spa Serene area on Encore is nothing special. Just a few heated beds next to a sauna and steam bath. It is very unimpressive and mainly used as a waiting area for those having spa treatments. As for cost I am not sure, but they do have a weekly or full cruise rate if you ask.
