How truly awful for his family. Having experienced the pain of a loved oneβs suicide in my immediate family, this always tears my heart for the family left behind. π’

Odyssey Of The Seas - Omelettes In Solarium Bistro
barbeyg replied to ahahn078's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Hip, hip, hooray! π We sail the TA soon, and we much prefer SB to the wild, Wild West of the Windjammer. @ahahn078, thanks for posting this question. You can teach an old dog (cruiser π) a new trick. Something else to look forward to. -
Over $150 pp/per night Ocean View?
barbeyg replied to LB_NJ's topic in Royal Caribbean International
That is pretty much a good deal right now if booking Oasis class. We have gotten older ships for less per night. -
Everyone has an opinion, some are paid for theirs. π€·π»ββοΈ Since I wonβt cough up my email address to read the whole article, I will just say I hope the opinion piece improves behind the sign up wall. π Welcome to CC. Everyone has opinions here too, some more entertaining than others.

Voom internet pre-cruise purchase
barbeyg replied to gizbug's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The pricing for Wonder in 2025 just populated to the planner, and I was able to buy 1 person, 2 devices for $251.93, $17.99 per day each, for a 7 night in Jan 2025. I figured it may not go lower, so grabbed it for now. -
I wouldnβt, unless you donβt want the JS. When we won our GS, we had bids in for 3 types of suites. We figure it gives us more opportunities.

Our earliest was about 40 days out, a midrange bid on a GS from a JS for a 9 night New England cruise on Anthem OTS, in 2019. Wasnβt that the early days of RU? Anyway, the only one we have won since then was much closer to the sailing date. We are doing a TA next month, and only a handful have won from inside cabins to OV, just before 30 days out. I figure those were to free up the least expensive cabins. No one else has mentioned a win.

Pier Runners on Icon of the seas.

I agree! And you know where this Momma heart went? I hope that little one wasnβt devastated because he got ill and felt responsible for them missing the ship. No one knows, including the sticklers in this thread. We got our Global Entry this year, but only because the Customs Officer was compassionate. Arrived at the parking garage next to the terminal in the airport 2 HOURS before our appointment. The lot was fullβ¦and so was every other we went to as ATL rerouted traffic for parking. It turned into a big comedy routine. We ended up UBERing to the terminal from a remote lot, and ran in 10 minutes late. Thank goodness the Customs officer had more understanding than most here do. He laughed when he got a look at me flying thru the door with the stricken look on my face, and told me we were good, to have a seat. I am a stickler for time, always, always arriving early. But stuff happens, even to the best-intentioned. -
Izumi Hibachi reservations at embarkment
barbeyg replied to nanseev's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Last year on Harmony, reservation requests for Izumi hibachi had to be made at Izumi. I got in line at the kiosk for the rest, and hubby at Izumi. We coordinated by phone. π -
Cruise ship hot tubs - safe or not?

This was scum. I know the difference, thanks. π Who on earth resurrected this thread? -
Anyone cruised without drinks package?
barbeyg replied to Frapaccino's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Even before our free Diamond drinks, we never bought the drink package. There were several days where we would have 4-6 drinks, but there were also days we were onshore and didnβt drink nearly as much onboard. If you drink less onboard on those days, the package is more pricey. If you still drink the same, or get bottled water, espresso coffee drinks in addition to alcohol, etc., then the package could be your best bet. -
I would def recommend conferring with IT. We have added precautions on our laptops due to HIPAA concerns. Addressing while at home is easier than trying to figure out issues while onboard. Have a great cruise! π

As others have said, have good insurance, credit cards, and accessible money in the bank, if traveling internationally especially. No one can prepare for every contingency, and trying to would cause unnecessary stress. Only you can decide what your tolerance level is for international travel. π That said, we currently have multiple cruises booked and two of them internationally this year alone. While I keep up with the news, and stay current with what is going on, itβs mostly clickbait sensationalizing these days. π€·π»ββοΈ If every variant of some illness had run rampant (like they constantly warn), weβd all have succumbed by now.

I agree with OB. I really appreciate your taking the time to share here. If there is anyone on the ship (or boarding) and lurking on this thread, please step up. This is a friendly, encouraging thread, unlike some of the others here. π Thanks, @CSHS1979 for taking the time to share Johnβs pics here. Really appreciate it, and WOW on the bridge climb photos. They are beautiful! π

Back then, we were booking in December mostly. And I canβt remember what the reason was for RCI dropping Labadee from our two cruises that were booked. Some kind of issue there. We will make it one day! π And since we are retiring, there wonβt be a work schedule we have to adhere to. π

I canβt answer your question, but you may get a better response to your question in the Ports of Call/Mexican Riviera board here.
