  1. Per cabin. Wife and I did it on the Inspiration a couple months ago and really enjoyed it. Already picked it up for our cruise in September. We usually take the earliest nonstop we can day of sailing due to our jobs, and having the rooms ready for a few ZZZs when we arrive is worth every penny.

  2. Not saying you didn't do this because I wasn't there, but instead of thinking about why you don't want a newbie there next time you have to simply go around them on the stairs, maybe ask them where they're going and help them out if they look confused.

    You might make a friend.

  3. No, you are comparing an eating establishment with a hotel establishment, two different things completely. Now if you had said "try putting your tray in the hall at a Days Inn" you would have been making an apples to apples comparision, but one that wouldn't mean much because Days Inns don't offer room service. Mariott hotels offer room service though and I see trays in the hallway every time I stay in one.

I wouldn't try too hard to sway them to your side of the debate.

It appears as if they've never been in a four or five star hotel and seen trays in the hallways. Now, this is just me, but I would never call them a lower class of person because of that, like they seem to be implying about people that do that on cruise lines.

I certainly don't consider myself lower class when I grab a chicken sandwich for lunch at Wendy's. Kinda like I don't feel high class when we go to a Michelin star establishment.

  4. We just got off the Inspiration and it was fabulous!!! I highly recommend!

We did Inspiration a couple months ago. I agree that with the 2.0 upgrades, it's a really fun ship!

We're doing Imagination's first four day out of dry dock on 9-25. Even though they're sister ships, and almost identical, we're looking forward to seeing which ship we enjoy more!

  5. Similar to my husbands request, why can I bring a bottle of wine but not a 6-pack of beer on board the first day? Obviously he is a beer drinker not a wine drinker.

If he drinks good beer, tell him I've successfully brought on two bombers instead of two bottles of wine on both cruises I've tried this on. I hedged my bets by making sure the beers I chose to bring were corked much like wine.

    Worked like a charm!

  6. For those who have traveled out of Long Beach, is FTTF worth it? We have 5 and 3 year olds, so would rather not wait in line more than we need to.

My wife and I found it pretty worthwhile for our cruise on Inspiration a couple months ago. We never waited in any lines for a tender or Guest Services. It was also nice having the room ready as soon as we got on. In fact, we bought it again for our cruise on Imagination in September.

You will wait if you check in at 9:30, but the Queen Mary is free to Carnival cruisers with their sign and sail card and a great way to kill a couple hours.

  7. We've been on Royal's Freedom of the Seas and Carnival's Inspiration (post 2.0 upgrades).

We actually enjoyed Carnival more. Their customer service and the friendliness of the staff is what made us choose another Carnival cruise over another Royal Caribbean sailing.

That said, we also have sailings booked on Norwegian and MSC, but plan on staying loyal to Carnival in the long term due to price, convenience of ports to us, and great customer service.

That's not to say we won't ever sail RC again, just not anytime in the next few years.

  8. What I find odd about this post is that so many people assumed the OP didn't have insurance. They never mentioned in the post if they had insurance or not. The just wanted to know who to call. Maybe they did and wanted to know if they had to contact Carnival or an insurance company.

How I long for the days when this board use to be friendly and helpful.

The irony of this post is there's no REAL info in it to help the OP. How is that friendly or helpful?

OP, I hope you got a satisfactory resolution.

  9. Sorry to hear of your loss, OP. I also apologize on behalf of all the absolutely perfect people here who have never made a mistake, or have never lost anyone suddenly. Must feel great.

I, for one, hope you get at least a future cruise credit provided you have the right documentation.

  10. Actually, she was trying to fly in the *night* before (9 pm) and got booked on a flight the next morning (9 am). But she landed by noon and made the cruise.

This is another example of why it's so important to fly in to your cruise at least 24 hours in advance. I have personally witnessed 2 occasions in my cruising history where that extra 24 hours was a godsend. It would have been in this lady's case as well.

I'm not sure six or seven hours would have made a difference in this case.

Flying in the night before qualifies in my book as flying in the day before. It's all semantics after that.
