  1. We plan to drive over for our Dec cruises. No desire to mess with trying to fly. But I am having trouble figuring out how to make a parking reservation at the port parking.
  2. None in particular, just a general question about new offers if any.
  3. Regent Shuttles were not a standard thing pre Covid. Some ports provided them, some didn’t especially if there was a strong taxi union. Sometimes there was a free tour that was basically a round trip to some tourist spot in the city with a few hours of free time. We have never had a problem getting into town for a do it yourself tour….taxi, walk, city shuttle or Regent bus or shuttle.
  4. Then what did you mean no longer sail outside the USA. US river cruises?
  5. Are you saying mask for passengers are still required on the ships in Alaska and the Caribbean sailings.
  6. Glad you are free again. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
  7. No, and you can find better.
  8. We have done some of these ports years ago when we were more able bodied. So we mostly explored the town own our on or with a taxi. Look on Regent.com at those ports and see what tours have been offered in past. That is just a sampling but may give you some ideas. See if any coastal sailing have been offered in the past. I like to check “What in a Port” also. It has information on what to see and gives me ideas.
  9. On our last cruise pre Covid the Social Hostess had a group of 8 to 10 almost every night for cocktails and then they would go to dinner together. Some times we joined them for drinks. The group seemed to be having a great time. We also made friends with a lady that joined many of the tours that we did. She would be asking for a shared table sometimes as we came to dinner so we would ask her to join us….many Regent passengers are very friendly and looking to make new friends. Enjoy your cruise!
  10. That is why we do longer cruises . Best bang for the buck in so many ways. Also less ports means more time for nice meals on the ship and time to enjoy the ship.
  11. To each his own…..passengers should not be made to feel uncomfortable in their choice to tip or not by other passengers on Regent. The line’s policy is no tipping expected. Regent makes several ways available to passengers to show gratitude for the work the crew does. Crew fund and comment cards. If you use these methods the crew will know and thank you personally. So it is truly you choice.
  12. Signdy, I agree with you. You have no risk. If the website will let you book both tours do it. You will get your money back is the morning doesn’t make. Whale watching can go in the rain. Also talk to the tour desk the day before. One time we were drop off close to the point of a second tour. They were both Regent tours. The tour desk has always been helpful in making things work for us. (At least one on one). As I recall the harbor where at least one whale tour is in the direction of the glacier. We have done both tours, just can’t remember where the helo starts from. Have fun. If the website won’t let you book the two tours. Try booking one with Regent and the other privately and if the time is close look into a taxi between the two. We have also rented a car one time in Juneau. Not many roads but we went to the glacier and did several things offered there on our own then just explored.
  13. So sorry to hear this. Sending good thoughts to you, for your DH remaining negative and for a negative result on the 20th for you. Let us know how you are t being treated.
  14. Sorry to hear that you are sick. That is every cruisers nightmare right now. Hope you feel better soon and test negative as soon as possible. Also that your husband doesn’t get sick. Let us know how you are feeling and how they are treating you.
  15. We like the Seabourn entry level suites better than Regent Mariner and Navigator. Seating area much more comfortable but over all we like the over all feel of Regent ships little better. About 200 days on each though.
  16. Yes Go Army, that tour was offerred on our 2015 cruise to GB reef. Probably did the same ship tour, was very disappointed in the reef dive. Seen much better in the Red Sea and parts of Caribbean sorry to say. Also lots of inexperienced divers. Yes gear is usually provided, but we always carried our own BC and regulator though. We have seen some sorry equipment in parts of the world like leaky valves etc and you don’t know until you get down. We could get all important gear in the carry - on and our clothes in a checked bag. Loyalty with free laundry was our best friend when we were diving! The Polynesian Islands have some nice dives also.
  17. I have been watching this closely. The problem is that everyone must be tested beginning each new segment per Regent. From reports on CC that is where most of the Covid positive tests show up and the passengers for the most part don’t really feel sick. Risk of a b2b in current climate. The rules need to be up dated to reality …. Follow Vikings lead Regent.
  18. Unless policy changes we will have to test in our b2b Miami to Miami total 17 days. This was the policy when book serval months ago. Quarantine or get off ship after testing positive. Becomes an insurance issue. For us if pilicy doesn’t change before final payment we will cancel second segment. But I know that doesn’t you.
  19. Did a really nice dive in Vietnam a number of years ago off Seabourn. The dive master was a young woman who stood atv4 1/2 ft and weighed maybe 80 pounds. She was a firecracker!? Contacted the dive group privately and they worked around port times. We usually went private as the ship’s dives were to tame for my DH. I am envious of your dive opportunities…we miss it. Have fun.
  20. Yes but rarely. We have aged out of diving now, but I have seen it offered at a fee. But if you are a serious diver making your own arrangements directly with the operator is a much better experience….. usually.
  21. We did on our own as part of a self diving trip 4-5 years ago. Bought tickets ahead of time for a morning tour. No crowd and an interesting tour not long but plenty of time to see everything. Some ship! If the timing for the HOHO gives you enough travel time that is a good idea. We did that in another port for a prison and it worked every well.
  22. Nan, I understand about the comfort level with Regent tours. Most of the Med ports do have good taxis service. You can get names and phone #s from the tour desk and just go on a short drive to sites you want to see or stop at. Also we have bailed on the Regent tour once or twice and got a taxis back to the port if it was well suited for me even after all the checking. I always try to get taxis info for each port just in case. Enjoy your trip.
  23. Sounds like a winner of a trip. We would do that in a heart beat if I could still handle the long haul flights. That is the way we mostly traveled pre retirement mixed with shorter cruises. Since retirement we were doing longer cruises mixed with shorter land trips. We are planning to use some FCC credits in Dec, before they are lost, on a round trip out of Miami depending on Covid restrictions. We want to cruise again but not with all the testing and quarantine stress. Way too much money to have to deal with it. We don’t have a lot of $$ invested in the Dec cruise so we can cancel at the last minute. The FCC are from back in 2018 pre Covid. We would rather travel in the US in the RV than play Russian roulette with Quarantine for Covid. Surely the cruise lines will force an end to these ever changing rules. Hope so anyway.
