We are traveling via train from Whittier to Anchorage, with an overnight, then on to Denali on a cruisetour. Are the trains open seating or are we assigned seats? The is very little information on how things flow on the tour portion thank you

Or cruise north to Whittier, train to Anchorage, train to Denali, motorcoach to Fairbanks. Is it a busy 4 days yes, but is it worth it, Absolutely

You did not say what month you are thinking of. September in Fairbanks could mean seeing The Northern Lights. Don’t discard Fairbanks so quickly. Holland tour D5c The downside to DYI is someone has to drive on unfamiliar roads, will that person really enjoy the scenery if they are focused on the roads?

4 friends are starting the process of booking a 7 night Canada New England cruise in October 2025. We are 71-58, 1 non drinker, & 3 casual. We are active but not stay up all night @ the dance club girls. We like being active but also love hanging out playing games & cards. Our previous weekends included Flight 93 Memorial, Ohio Amish Country, Laurel Caverns, craft shows & wineries. Due to some still working 7 night, round trip is required. Any thoughts on which line does it right, on a good ship? We have all sailed but no one is tied to a certain ship/line Insight from those who have been would be appreciated.

@df5250 who did you book your Denali ATV tour with? We are looking to do one but want longer than 2.5 hour tour - only gives you 1.5 hors on the ATV

What is a Pinnacle ship? Please use ship names - not all of us know ship classes

We want to stay at the Fairmount and our Travel agent says it is on a waitlist. Today when I was looking at flights I also looked at pre hotels and I could book the Fairmount. I called my TA & she insists it is still waitlisted. Does anyone know the difference, if there is one, of me booking 2 nights on line - looks like it is a “package” so I have to pay now, and adding to my booking with my TA? Looks to be the same hotel she has us waitlisted for & the same rate. Am I missing something? thanks

@BeachTunes by the sound of it, you are not doing the tour with Celebrity? How are you booking? We will be in Juneau the end of August with Holland & would appreciate your input. This seems like an exceptional excursion

Looking at things now, I wish we had booked a tour with 3 nights. We arrive at 5pm, after an 8 hour train trip. I’m not sure we’ll want to do too much touring that evening. The next day is the 6 hour Tundra Wilderness Tour until 2’ish I’m guessing, then the remainder of the day free. We depart at 10am on the 3rd day. Not a lot of time to explore on our own, only time seems to be after the bus tour.

My travel agent gave us a detailed itinerary when we paid our deposit. You could ask for one from whomever you booked with. My itinerary shows it takes 2.5 hours on the train from Whittier to Anchorage, and 8 hours from Anchorage to Denali on the McKinley Explorer. Our tour is one night in Anchorage, then the next day to Denali.

In the US I have issues using the website on my iPad. personally I think Holland needs to do better - I an not impressed with them so far

THANK YOU gentlemen - I will take your advice & look at a few options first. Party of 4, 60 - 67. Walking around town is an option but biking & hiking are out. We would not be opposed to renting a car to see the “outskirts”. I’ll be back with questions I’m sure

We are doing our first Alaskan cruise, sailing out of Vancouver in late August. We have never been to Vancouver & will have from 2pm Friday until boarding (time undetermined) on Sunday. We will be staying at The Fairmount (hopefully, have a waitlist for 2 nights with Holland America). Trying to make a plan so we make good use of our time. What is the difference between a Marv & Harv tour & a Jayleen tour, do you know? They look similar, but ther is a $30pp difference.

Is that bad scenery? I keep reading .. “you’ll be disappointed going Northbound”🤨 Is Queen Charlotte Strait or the Sound nor scenic? What will be missed “in the narrow part of the passage” while we’re sleeping? I am very nervous I made a huge mistake booking Northbound

Do you have a deck preference? We’re looking at Aft deck 7 but our friends are looking at Deck 8. I notice Deck 4 is higher priced?

We are sailing on Nieuw Amsterdam & noticed Deck 4 aft cabins are priced higher than deck 7. Can you explain why? I was alway under the impression that higher decks were better, as long as not right under the pool

Not sure who you are sailing with, nor when, however Buffalo is between $900 & $1200 per person. Not non-stop but no boarder traffic issues. Yes you have customs, however you’re on the plane & in Vancouver, better issues there than Niagara Falls. I’ve looked into Toronto also but the savings isn’t enough to fight the boarder. We are sailing the end of August & through Holland have gotten $920pp.

We are on Nieuw Amsterdam in aft 7143. Looked yesterday because some friends now want to join us & noticed that to aft cabins on deck 4 are at a higher cost than on deck 7. I was always under the impression the higher decks were more in demand & cost more. I was surprised deck 4, being so low, was more than deck 7

Yes they are both VB, Deck 4 is about $350 more than on Deck 7. I was just always under the impression lower decks were lower prices. @Haldo1935 thinks the lower aft cabins have a larger balcony. Sounds like I need to do some research & possibly change cabins

I was always under the impression cabins on higher decks were more than the lower decks. Now I’m seeing on the NA in August an Aft cabin on deck 4 is more than one on deck 7. Can anyone explain this? Thank you
