  1. If I am on an excursion as I said and I realize that I can't do something specific I will stay behind and wait. I do not think everyone should go at my pace although I did get upset at the tour guide but did not say anything. It wasn't worth it and I didn't want to upset the whole tour. There were a couple of people who helped me and stayed with me even though I told them to go on. When the walking stuff started I asked the tour guide how much there was as I couldn't walk very far. I told him I would just stay with the bus. He stated that there was very little walking and that I would be fine. I tried my best but kept being told that it would be "fine".

I don't expect anyone to help me but when they do I thank them and tell them I appreciate what they did for me. That is the decent thing to do. I do not think I am entitled, I try to do things myself.

Again though there are a number of people who actually make it harder for you. I can't count the number of times I have waited for an elevator and when one opens up people run for it and fill it up even if I have been waiting for a while for one. One time I was waiting and the elevator opened. I started for it when a young man saw it open as he entered the area and ran for it. I thought he might hold it for me. Nope, he started pressing the close button so that he didn't have to have me in the elevator with him. I know that is what he was doing because I could hear him saying "close hurry up and close"

Also if you are using a walker or a scooter (and yes I know not all scooter people are good but then not all people period are good) you become invisible to others. I can be walking down the hall and people will come down the other way and just stop and fill the hall. With a walker I need a little room, not the whole hallway but enough to get around. As well in a busy area just try to get through it. It isn't going to happen. I happen to also be short (4' 8" tall) and that makes it even harder. People really don't see me at all it seems sometimes. I am always polite, wait my turn and try my best to accommodate others. It is nice when others do the same.

  2. And yet sometimes the tour does screw up. I use a walker to get around. On one of my trips I phoned the customer number to ask about a couple of the tours that I was looking at. I asked them if there was a lot of walking because the description did not mention it. I wanted to know how hard it would be. I was told that it would be no problem. Once on the ship I again went down to the shore excursion desk and asked the same question using my walker. Again I was told that they would be okay. They were not okay. Now I am not sure if the company doing the tour changed it up or what but there was a lot of walking over cobble stones. It was horrible. I ended up cancelling the other tours because I couldn't be sure if they were right. I had tried my best to find out.

Now having said that sometimes it is hard to find an excursion that is mild but interesting. I want to see things as well and I do try my best to keep up. If I don't think I will be able to walk at a certain spot I will stay near the bus and wait until the others come back. I don't want to just sit on a bus though. I don't do beaches which seems to be the mild excursions.

I used to be able bodied and did a lot of things. Life happens and sometimes not so nice things happy to make life a little more challenging. Just remember it could be you at some point, and then how would you feel?

  3. A custom paint job for the whole thing would be really neat. You wouldn't have a problem finding your own scooter that way right. I have 2 granddaughters who are artists but they are both young and do interesting things. Not sure they would know what to do though. As well one lives almost 10 hrs. away from me right now.

The biggest thing I am starting to have to deal with though is that people are remarking that they would never get a scooter. It makes you look so old. I am 60 and they say that it will make me look 80. I figure it is better for me to be able to do things and get out and if people are going to think like that it is their problem not mine. I didn't chose the medical conditions I have they chose me.

  4. Think you'll be very happy with it. I own the 3 Wheel Pride GoGo Elite Traveler Scooter. Love it! Able to easily take it apart to load in/out of my Honda CR-V. People are always amazed watching me do it.

Regarding painting the panels pink - A friend of mine had hers painted pink and she had one painted yellow. She even took the panels to an auto body shop to be painted with automotive paint. It's unfortunate that Pride only offers the pink panels for the LTD Edition Breast Cancer LX model.

I'm glad to hear that you love your scooter. It was a hard decision to make because I was afraid of making the wrong one. This has to last me a long while. Maybe I will take mine to an auto body shop and find out how much it would cost me to get them painted. Some sparkles would be nice as well LOL At least mine will stand out among all the other red and blue scooters. I love pink.

  5. I ended up buying a 4 wheel Go Go Elite Traveler. It is just a little smaller width wide than the LX and it is also a little lighter. I can really maneuver it and we tried it out with a 21 inch "door way" I was fine getting it in there. I can back it up and turn it with no problems. I was told that I could paint the decals pink so that is what we are going to do. I wasn't as keen on the 3 wheel one and had no problems with the 4 wheels. They order it on Monday so I should have it on about Wed. or Thurs. I can't wait. The places I can go. Freedom LOL

  6. I just went to the store to try the 4 and 3 wheel out. Outside was the marking for wheelchair parking that had lines. It was a little smaller than the corridor of a ship and the other markings for the door were a little bigger. I used that to see if I could maneuver them into the doorway. I am able to do both. I go back with my husband on Sat. and this time I am going to take chalk to really mark a doorway to see if that makes a difference. I am really good at parking so I can move it around. They didn't have the scooter I am looking at buying today but will most likely have them on Sat. They did have comparable ones to drive around.

  7. I am going to go to the store and try both the 3 and the 4 wheel scooters out. I will try them out in the parking lot and around the plaza that is there. I am hoping that it will be enough to make my decision. I am starting to lean towards the 3 wheel one so that I don't have to rent one when we go on our cruises. A 4 wheel one would be better here most of the time but I need the 3 wheel one away. I was also thinking that in some cases (probably in most cases) the 3 wheel tighter cornering one would be better in stores here as well. I have good balance so that isn't a problem.

The LX with suspension is very easy to take apart. I will also do that at the store to see how I will be able to handle it. I will take it apart and put it together several times. As well try and lift the battery to see if I can do that.

Thanks for any input that you have given me. It is a lot of money (although insurance is paying for it) and a big decision for me. I just want to get it right.

  8. I am in the process of buying a scooter. I will need it at home here but am looking at taking it on a cruise as well.

I have ridden and liked the GoGo LX with suspension. I have thought of getting the 4 wheel one for better stability. I realize that the 3 wheel will be better for the ship and if I do get a 4 wheel we will rent a 3 wheel for the cruises.

What are your experiences with the GoGo Pride scooters.

  9. The tea bags are the same brand as Starbucks uses but it doesn't come out as good as the liquid that they use. I buy the liquid here at home and make my own.

The chai tea latte that they have on the ship is really not the same as Starbucks in taste. You can't get the tea bags to taste as good as the concentrate. Too bad because I love my chai tea latte.

  10. I've had the menu now for 2 weeks. I will have them again in Oct. and then Feb. I don't like them at all. It was hard for me to find things on them that tasted good and that I could eat. I can't eat seafood or anything with alcohol. As well I have to stay away from wheat. There was always something on the old menu that I could have. I realize that they had to change up things but it isn't for the better for me. On my Oct. cruise I will end up going to the MDR as my 2 sons enjoy it but will probably get an app and a dessert. Not sure what I will do about a main course but I am sure I will be full with just those two. It will have keep the weight off me I guess LOL

  11. I have not sailed on NCL but have sailed on RCCL, Disney, Princess and Carnival. I keep hearing about the "party" Carnival ships but in our 10 cruises on Carnival have yet to see it. We have had good service and had no problems with their ship. We only do 7 night and longer cruises so that might make a difference I don't know. The worse for "partys" was RCCL. There were a lot of drunk people. They were having a good time but wow. Disney as well had several people that were "having fun". Princess wasn't too bad. We enjoyed our cruises on that line.

I have found in my own life that the people that say it is a party ship have never sailed Carnival. One older couple that took their first cruise with us on a Carnival ship thought it was a little "loud". They were older (in their 70's) and really into art. However, they have now done about 8 cruises and say that the best cruise they had was on Carnival.

Everyone has their own opinions so I usually try to go with my own. We have tried other lines and may in the future go on Princess again but right now I have 2 cruises lined up with Carnival. After that we will have to see if we are able to cruise after that.

  12. You don't get the menu when you make the reservation. You see it the night of the meal. However, there are menus posted. The menu might be changing soon which would be good. I have reserved it for our cruise in Oct. but will cancel if the new menu isn't out yet.
