  1. Thanks so much, GTJ, for the detailed information on Busses #4 and #7.  We will not use #4 as it does not return to cruise terminal area early enough for our departure.  No. 7 sounds doable, but then so does the silver line and changing to red/orange lines.  There is only 2 of us.  We can also do Uber, but I'm not so good with my cell phone and ordering one.  I'll try to practice a little! LOL.

  2. We are seniors and are interested in information on how to get from Black Falcon Cruise Terminal to Quincy Market area of Downtown Boston.  I understand there is SL2 which takes you to South Station where you can transfer to Red Line to Park Street, but we would rather take one bus without transferring and ending up more in the area of Quincy Market.  Can anyone provide information on either of these bus lines?  Thanks in advance.

  3. What time did you actually sail?  We are sailing in September, and our itinerary shows 19:00 or a 7:00 pm departure.  We are not arriving until the morning of.  I know, risky, but we are on a VERY early non-stop flight from Tampa to LGA.  Hoping they adhere to that 7 p.m. departure.  If so, we should be fine.  We plan to take a taxi to the Brooklyn Cruise Port, and it's a Sunday, so traffic should be minimal.  Thanks for any info.

  4. Saint Greg:  I wish I could have crawled through the computer and landed right in the middle of that pot of boiled crawfish.  I for sure could eat 5 lbs. all by ownself?  We lived in Lafayette, LA for 25 years before moving down here to W. coast of Florida, and I sure do miss my crawfish and all the Cajun recipes that abound in that area.

I'm a long-time lurker of this thread, and sometimes (rarely) make a comment of my own, but I just couldn't help myself when I saw that beautiful picture of the crawfish boil.  Hope you enjoyed it!!

  5. We are on the Seaside for the 5/28 7-day sailing and I sure hope all the deficiencies are corrected by then and it doesn't impact our trip.  I noted that those who are on the Seaside right now seem to be having a wonderful time with no issues.  I'm pretty sure all problems will be addressed ASAP and we will be able to sail as planned.

  6. I've read every word of your "live" from your first week on Mera.  We are going on the 9/24 sailing out of Brooklyn, so I am eagerly awaiting all of your posts from this week.  The embarkation looked like a huge crowd and we are in our 80's, so not looking forward to that.  Maybe requesting a wheelchair for my 85 year old self will make it easier.  Thanks so much for doing this live again.  Your writing style is very easy to read.

  7. We are in Newport late September on MSC Meraviglia, arriving at 7 a.m. and departing 4 p.m. Is Newport a tender port or is the ship docked?  We are elderly and cannot do long walks, so we are interested in Trolley #67 and also DH would enjoy the auto museum.  How far is the Transport Center where we catch Bus 67 from the ship terminal or tender area?  Thanks for any advice.

  8. We are on the Mardi Gras 2/4. I've done some research but can't find which venues are complimentary for lunch and which have extra charges.  The same for breakfast.  Regarding the MDR menus, if there is an *by an item (such as the salmon and flat iron steak) is there an extra charge and, if so, how much?

If someone can answer this, I would be very appreciative.  Thank you.

  9. We were also on the Meraviglia from March 6 - 13, and we definitely went to the private island Ocean Cay.  The weather was beautiful and the island very enjoyable.  We spent overnight there.  This was actually one of our favorite cruises.  The staff was wonderful.  Food was good, not great, but we certainly did not go hungry.  We also went to Cozumel and Costa Maya and weather was great at both of them.  We had a cold front to sail through on the way back to Port Canavaral and the temp had dropped about 30 degrees from what it was when we embarked.  Brrrrr!!  The entertainment was really good and we particularly enjoyed the 5-piece rock band that performed in the Carousel Lounge 3 nights.  They were top notch; went by the name of "Off the Record On the Rocks."  Also the pianist "Dyma" who is from Ukraine, was wonderful.  Just thought I'd add our 2 cents worth to the thread.

  10. I'd like to know this also, the chances for getting a different balcony cabin in the current climate.

We sail this Sunday, booked a Fantastica balcony, and our cabin was switched from a regular balcony on Deck 11 to a fully accessible one on Deck 10, with NO SOFA or anywhere to sit and a ramp going out the balcony door for you to stub your toes on when you get out of bed during the night.  Plus we are in our 80's!!  Our TA has tried through numerous phone calls and a long letter to get us changed back to a regular balcony anywhere else (we're not picky), all to no avail.  I'm wondering what is our best option, to wait till we get on the ship and go to customer service, or complain at check-in.  Thoughts, anyone??

  11. We sail 3/6 on Mera for 7 nights.  Is it MANDATORY to have cruise insurance with Covid provisions?

We live 2 hours from port, so transport is not a problem.  I also see where they are testing just prior to embarkation and someone mentioned the need for negative tests 72 hours before boarding.  I thought it was 48 hours.  Where can I find this information.  I don't see anything on the web site information.

    Thank you.

  12. Good to know.  My test at Walgreens is tomorrow at 12:30.  Back in September DH and I both got tested at Walgreens.  I had my negative result in an hour and never did get DH's.  I finally called the Walgreens where we went and talked the rep into running a copy of the results they had received for him so we were able to board, but it was a painful experience to say the least.  Hope I have good luck again tomorrow.
