  1. I agree about the Handwashing stations. I also miss all the Washy-washy

    staff at entrances of buffets.

Even when boarding ship, they Should be there!

Too often this simple event goes missing or understaffed and then you

    hear of a Noro outbreak.

We were on Crown, mid March.....No issues.

But I noticed, just like on recent NCL ships, they are trying to skirt by with

fewer Washy washy staff..... this is a Bad idea.

Bring back washy-washy, and Make guests USE the hand sanitizers.

Staff needs to be Careful too.

Noro is NOT fun. Been there. Its horrible.

As to the person who said, Why didnt you go to Medical Center?

    I can answer that.

Because when I caught Noro, you are so sick, you really CAN'T leave the bathroom.

    And when you can?

You feel so sick & weak, you need to lay down! You are captive in your room!

Thats the sickest I've ever been & thought I was going to die. Its AWFUL.

Everybody needs to practice Keeping It CLEAN.

  2. Could you share what the cost of the upgrade was? As noted before I'm used to Carnival's offers like this but not Princess. On Carnival, upgrade from free inside to Balcony is usually 250 - 260 per person on a 7 or 8 night cruise. Upgrade to OV usually 100. But you can choose the highest balcony category in that group.

    Wondering same thing.

Also, the upgrade costs for NCL are VERY similar to Carnival.

I am doing something alittle different this Princess booking..... I'm Taking the Inside comp cabin, and see IF an upgrade is offered closer?

    If not?

I plan to use the Inside cabin.

I've upgraded every past cruise, always AT the Time of booking.

Insides seem to book up Fast.....

So this time, plan to grab the Insdie "freebie" and wait for poss upgrade.

Last Princess cruise, I was able to upgrade last min for $79 each.

    (that was OV to Balcony)

  3. Yes, they were both over $1200 on a VP slot machine and they asked for my SS number so I know it was reported.

I sent an email, so I'll wait and see what they say. There is only a link to get a win/loss statement, so that wouldn't help. I'll be taking more cruises this year, so I'll wait on that.

    Sue

Huh.....I've gotten W2G's from ships casino & theyve Always given it when

they gave the cash. Don't know why they wouldn't? Good luck getting yours.

  4. Thanks muggo. I'm hoping that the OP will come back and share his points on the ship since he said it was the points that got the free cruise offer. Like I said, Carnival's minimum seems to be 5,000 points. Just curious if Princess is running the same program now.

8,000 points in Princess ship casino, for future free (2) Inside cruise.

Only thing, its only for a month to book, then must sail before times up,

    approx 8 months.

This is a much smaller window to book & sail, than the casino offers

    I get from NCL.

  5. Or do nada....

We just walked around the town, exploring. I saw someone mention in

their trip report......Tortula, Not yet ready for Prime time.

    I would agree with that.

We walked, dodging traffic, visited a pharmacy, stuff like that.

We sat on a bench, looking like a couple locals, & watched a couple chickens & chicks walking around & nobody seemed to notice.

It was a lowkey day. Maybe gone off the ship only a couple hours.

All the excitement from the chickens.......we had to get back. Ha! :p

  6. I think the Op means well with the comments. I've thought the same thing.

Having sailed with a boatload of Coughing Canadians (they were coughing boarding in Vancouver, and continued to do so thru the cruise), I can understand how the Op feels.

HOW the ship even let them on?

You could tell it was bad colds, Not allergies.

NOT fun sailing with people who are trying to pull a fast one, and sail anyway.

Plus they gave their sicky cold & cough (Not allergies) To Me!

  7. Thanks for the headsup muggo.

I contacted my host at V/P to find out WHY I didn't receive this email. I've been Gold for years, and complained last visit that my offers have been getting lame...... This was the clincher!

Yeah its probably a fishing offer to get past players Back.

But, I'm already There, and want it too!

  8. I have been going to the Venetian on comps for the last 3 years. This is a special promotion for their current customers that runs through the end of June. Nice partnership between Princess Casinos and Sands Corp is my guess.

muggo, you are talking about a different casino comp. The kind you get at a casino NOT on the ship.

I'm talking about the SHIPS casino....

" I earned enough points in the Crowns casino for a free upcoming cruise.

Its for 2, Inside cabin, sailing thru Oct. 22."

  9. We were on 6A last year on the Sun, which I really liked the location.

Ocean view cabin. Halls were fairly quiet.

But as far as Quiet in our Cabin? Thats another story!

Our rooms AC/Fan was so So LOUD. You could hardly hear yourself think.

Somebody came to check it out & basically said there was nothing he could do. I wanted to take a sledgehammer to it.

The vent also takes up a whole wall too, and blows constantly.

I came home with a massive sinus infect.

Unless they've done a fantastic refurb?

We would NOT book it again.:(

  10. Just returned from a comped 3-night stay at the Palazzo in Las Vegas to a NEW offer. A 3-night stay at the Venetian or Palazzo that came with a free interior cabin for a Princess cruise, Jumped on this. So now, I will have two free cruise certificates to use in 2017 as the casino on Emerald gave me one the day we disembarked a couple of weeks ago. New goal: pay nothing for cabins in 2017!

Are you Gold or Plat with Ven/Palz?

  11. I brought ONE bottle of wine with me last cruise, to be consumed in our cabin. i bought a carrier for it, cost $4 from a shipping store. It looked like a big egg carton. It was a hassle, from flying to carrying on...... been there done that, won't do it again.

Plus, we ended up Not finishing it. Between the Casino host comping drinks, and we got a dinner that included $50 bottle of wine, yada, we never needed to bring anything. We went to a Wine tasting....that was 5-6 small drinks, etc. It was more than enough.

Also I gained a few more pounds, Not from the food, as much as all the wine!

Next cruise, I ain't bringing any, and I'm drinking more iced tea. :o

  12. Thanks for both of your responses & opinions.

Appears that Star sailed from SF last year, we missed it.

After more digging, looks like Grand is our ONLY choice from

SF late this summer. Yep, Free is good.

Well, almost.....I get what you mean, port charges, taxes, upgrades.

However I'm leaning towards grabbing an Inside for a change, and

see if any upgrade deals happen...... :)

  13. I get casino comp cruises. So far only NCL includes Alaska in their choices, so were taking our 2nd Alaska trip from NCL in May.

On the other hand, we just got off Princess Crown, Calif Coastal, and earned a Comp cruise.

Guess where its NOT valid? Alaska

So at least for Me? I won't be sailing on Princess to Alaska.

Its good for Carrib. or another Calif Coastal, which I'll probably do cuz saves on flights.

At least thats MY reason for not doing Princess alaska.....

  14. Hello all, we just got back from first Princess cruise.

I earned enough points in the Crowns casino for a free upcoming cruise.

Its for 2, Inside cabin, sailing thru Oct. 22.

Prefer doing the Calif Coastal again, end of summer.

Wonder if anyone has experience with comp vouchers from the ship?

    And cruise ship recommendation?

We sailed on Crown, liked it alot.

Want to do Calif. coastal again, but prefer to leave out of SF.

Is Grand our only choice? I'm really Not interested in that ship.

But appears its the only option for Calif Coastal out of SF...

Let me know your experience , advice on ships for this?

I have til April 25 to book it. Thank you!

  15. Others who have sailed recently can correct me, but from what I can tell, it's 5:30 or 8:00; there really is no 6, and there are only two times. So I don't think 5:30 is changing to earlier, but that 5:30 and 6:00 are all really 5:30. Not happy!

Got off Crown last week.... Early = 5:30pm.

    Late was 7:30 (or 7:45?)

Anytime is a crapshoot. Some people say its great, others say long wait.

We were very pleased with 5:30.

We were able to easily do the Shows, and then usually casino after that.:p

  16. I have been the route several times and the sea days can be windy and cold and sometimes rocky.

This is all relative though as to where you r from. But we have experienced some sea days that can be so windy that chairs r tied down and the pools are sloshing....on a March 4th, MR coming back from Esenada it was suggested no use of the balconies because of the wind, no one was lying out by the pool. But on these cruises Princess provides many inside activities and the wind doesn't always mean a rocking ship.

OP was it windy up on deck, were people able to enjoy the pool on the sea days?

FYI- we had wind & swells Tuesday Sea day. 9 of us took the Ultimate Ship Tour early Tues. Am. (it was fantastic btw)

At that time, The Capt. said they were still on the fence about Wed arrival for Santa Barbara. Since its Tenders, he said they were going to wait & see

and probably decide late on Tues about Wed arrival.

Luckily seas calmed alittle, so we were able to get off.

Tenders were kinda rocky thou. If anybody has mobility issues?

This would be a good day to skip, and stay onboard.

  17. I know being able to watch Barry Manilow in concert is the only reason I take a Princess cruise, instead of going to Lost Wages (Las Vegas). Actually I've never seen his show on Princess, nor have I ever been to Vegas.

Must be an old concert......Barry hasn't been in Vegas for a few years...

    You'd think he'd want the publicity? :p
