Winding down with end of cruise blues.. how is it that anticipation of the cruise takes so much longer than the cruise itself? Not that I don’t enjoy the anticipation too… We had our one and only dinner in Luminae this evening. Service was great and just as I remember from previous sailings. We shared the turbot and the chicken. Both DH and I had the smoked tomato soup as well. I had the almond cake for dessert while DH had the chocolate tart…which happens to be the same exact chocolate tart that cafe Al Bacio was offering this week only dressed up with some whip cream and chocolate sauce. Food was fine. After dinner we went to Eden for a last round of Tom the piano man. He’s excellent and if you’re on Ascent any time soon, I highly recommend you look him up. One more highlight from today…for all you slot players… I rounded out my casino play with a hand pay on the Zeus Orbs machine nearest the exit by Craft Social. I saw a lady get a hand pay from that same machine the day before. Final thoughts tomorrow…

Congratulations on your upcoming big 6-0! I have very little info on the infinite veranda cabin but I know there are tons of cabin tours on YouTube. Many explain how to operate the veranda as well. I hope you enjoy!

Isn’t it funny how we can all read the same thing and come up with so many different interpretations? I took it to mean that the op was hoping for some compensation bc he felt that X themselves knew the substituted ports were less desirable than the original itinerary. Idk. 🤦‍♀️

I read this as op merely pointing out what they did for the following cruise as a means to point out what they didn’t do for his own cruise. I’m sure op was not expecting a full refund. It seems as he was hoping for a good will gesture of obc or some sort of fcc.

Yeh, so much about the X product has changed. Every time I read about a missed opportunity for them to issue a gesture of good will I’m reminded that, as op said, they are in it for the money.

Sorry your cruise itinerary was disrupted. My guess is that the difference is your cruise was already underway while the next cruise had not yet begun. I am aware of certain insurance policies that pay out for missed ports, though have never purchased such myself. You make a good case for doing so in the future.

Did I mention that we are dieting starting tomorrow? 😂 DH can put away some food. Not sure how he maintains his Tom Selleck figure.

YC is a No brainer and if you can do it for the same price as a non retreat on Celebrity, then go for it. There will be more on offer for school aged people on MSC that Celebrity, regardless of category.

I’m not opposed to giving them all a try… just for the comparison purposes of course. But good Lord, would I need a good diet regimen 🤣.

Have to agree that the PV balcony is small. For me it was the better option over SV due to the amount of shade the PV offers. Additionally, we had solid walls on both sides.. no dividers so it felt extremely private.

This is true. The cocktails were from the Sunset bar menu.

@zitsky this is a great thread. Just read every page to DH. He’s not a CCer so isn’t privy to these sorts of discussions. He’s amazed at the general consensus being so in line with our own after this trip.

I have to admit, while maybe not so diplomatic in your approach, you make some great points. DH and I are in our Sky room right now viewing the ocean through the expansive bank of windows while propped up against pillows on our forward facing bed. There’s no way I’d pay 10x more to do this in an iconic suite but have no ire whatsoever towards those who do. Service on the Retreat Sun deck yesterday was lacking for everyone…not just us SS dwellers. Were I in one of those true suites yesterday, I’d be very disappointed.

After being on Ascent for the last six days, both in and out of a Sky suite, here’s what I think… I see no reason to ever book a suite again, at least on E class. We have a MC sky suite booked on Edge in May. We will keep it only because we got a great deal and has all the AI inclusions of days gone by, which we’d lose if we downgraded.
