  1. Lois hope your blood draw goes ok , I can totally relate . They used an ultra sound to find my veins for my scans and had to get a port for my chemo . Drink lots of water prior and stay warm.
  2. Hi Thankyou for the hotel recommendation Cynthia ,it is a change of plans for us.We were traveling from Milan to start the cruise as my Mum was flying home but now she is going us on the Regent cruise so we stay in Rome the night prior. The hotel has two single rooms left so I will keep looking as we need one double and one single/double .Last time we stayed in a lovely little hotel by the Travis fountain but I can't remember or find the name.I hope my Mum loves cruising as she is now doing two! She's never been to so many of the destinations even though she was born in the UK but came to NZ after the Second World War.
  3. Im glad you enjoyed the concert kat , I would love to attend one of his concerts. Ive been busy planning my holiday and now we are looking for a hotel for one night in Rome before the cruise , any ideas anyone?
  4. Kat well done on the weight loss ! Its always a battle . Melody love the hair , what a great cut Im wondering can anyone recommend a hotel in Milan for the night? We will train from Venice and fly out the next day . I was looking around the train station but the area doesnt look great so it may be worth going more central for the night , we will arrive about midday
  5. We received an email from regent and they are transporting us to and from the cruise terminal. To save stress on our last day we have just changed our flights to depart a day later and train to Milan after we get off the ship. There is a chance we would not make it and decided the overnight in Venice or (Fusina) would be sad to miss . Lucky for us it wasnt to pricey to change our flights on Singapore airlines
  6. I am re looking at our last day ,as the cruise finishes in Venice and our flight home leaves at 13.30pm from Milan that same day ,could be very tight.Has anyone done this?
  7. Hi everyone We are starting to get excited , even though its still two months away. We have rented an air bnb in saint paul de vence, it was tricky finding one with two bathrooms. We wont be spending time in Rome as we have been there a few times , when my husband meets us at the port we are driving to Lucca for two nights before France. Lois our second cruise is on Regent Seven Seas, through Greece and Croatia then finishing in Venice. I have done the planning so hope it all works , my distraction during my treatment ! One more check up before our trip .
  8. Welcome back Kat and Happy retirement Cynthia. My Mother and I leave here only July 22nd to start our cruise on July 26th from Barcelona on Seabourn .Then a week in southern France and another cruise from Rome on August 14th ,making up for all the missed holidays during Covid
  9. I might look at the shuttle as well .We have to get from Milan to Rome for our cruise and its going to be a bit tight with the times after we leave my Mother at the airport in Milan.
  10. Those two pictures do tell a story Kat. I hope you get more blue skies . Those buffets ! Haha some people really do get carried away .
  11. Kat ,How about a temporary spray colour .Hopefully my hair can handle the bleach ,we will find out next week
  12. Congratulations on your retirement Cynthia. Shame the don't make that bag anymore Kat ,especially as we are sailing on the Sojourn. My visit to the hairdressers went well and I am booked in next week for a tidy up and a colour ,don't think Im brave enough for any other colours Kat ,so it will be blonde . Two more days until you head off Kat ,I don't leave until July 22nd! A long time to wait but time for my hair to grow some more and another check up to get through
  13. Welcome back to those who have just finished cruising and enjoy your cruise Kat,I love hearing about all the different cruises and destinations. I will google the Osprey roller bag Kat ,I think my samonsite is going to be too big for my five weeks in Europe with two cruises and a bit of train travel in Italy .I just ordered a new money belt from Amazon ,so starting to get prepared. Its now four months since my last chemo and I am going to have a consultation at a hairdresser tomorrow to see if anything can be done with my very short hair ,so I can feel confident without a hat or wig 🙂
  14. Hi kat I like the third one , low Moab as well . Melody glad to hear you're doing so well and I also like the blue on you. I love cornflower blue. My cruise is still months away but Im already thinking about what to take .I will be away for five weeks , thank goodness its summer clothing so wont be bulky.

  18. Happy Easter! Kat I have been wearing a lot of hats since my chemo and find my caps the best ,I just purchased a new white bucket cap for the cruise in July ,it’s too big but hopefully will fit once my hair grows back. 🙂 Cynthia I am glad you are feeling better ,that ice cream looked interesting, maybe I’ll try one in Sicily.I do love the ash covered soft cheeses in France. I hope you are continuing to recover well Melody, your grand dog watching TV is so funny. Looking forward to reading about your cruise Lois and your 60th birthday cruise Purple , is that ok to call you Purple ?I see others have. We are now in Autumn ,we feel cheated as we had such a bad summer . Its still nice to be away at the lake ,although the grandchildren aren’t here as the new one is only 1 week old .
  19. Enjoy your lovely long cruise Cynthia. Im sure you will be fine by the time you cruise Lois ,not long to wait until Greece ,lucky you!
  20. Audrey ,I am so sad to read about your Mum.I agree with everyone that the way she handled her illness was an inspiration.I was so sad to read that she was ill and then worried when she stopped posting.I discovered this thread when I was ill and found all the posts so lovely to read and then started to write the odd post.I loved reading about Debbies garden, it sounded like she she had green fingers .I have spent days planning two cruises while I thankfully recovered and can imagine how these precious times with her family were so special.Great idea for your Dad to keep cruising.
  21. Congratulations on booking the cruise Kat ,its always good to have something to look forward to ! Happy belated birthday Lois and great news about your cancer medicine being funded . Im going for my first check up next week but Im thankful that my hair is starting to grow although very slowly.I am hoping to have a pixie cut by the time we cruise in July
  22. I am also planning to get a 4th booster before our trip to Europe in July so good to read it may have helped you Melody as I still have not had Covid.
