  1. Thank you Roscoe and Crofters for taking the time to entertain and update us armchair travellers! I know that Roscoe is a seasoned World cruiser - particularly on the QV, but can I ask if this is your first World cruise Crofters and if so are you enjoying being onboard and is it living up to expectations? Asking as one who is seriously considering a WC in the next couple of years.

  2. Thank you Crofters! Exactly the feedback I was hoping for and expecting. Sounds like the Centenary World cruise on QM2 has got off to a wonderful start and hopefully will continue. I for one am very grateful to you for taking the time to give us an insight into what is happening onboard and would appreciate an update from time to time - Wi-Fi and time permitting! Wishing you all a wonderful voyage!

Following, however, not impressed so far.  Not enough information/detail with regard to the onboard atmosphere and daily experience of a world cruiser - bars, dining, guest speakers, interesting shipmates and characters. As someone who would like to take a world cruise in the not too distant future this blog is not setting the scene for me.  I can search for factual tourist information on Google.

  4. Have just returned from 14 nights on Queen Victoria and have to say we had excellent service throughout in terms of cabin steward, waiters, sommelier and bar staff.  Our cabin steward, Emmie, was the best we have had including those in Princess and Queens grill - nothing too much trouble - proactive, attentive and efficient.  The standard of food in the main dining room was as good if not better than some previous voyages, although we were not impressed with Coriander or the pub.  We can honestly say we had a very positive experience which met and in most areas exceeded our expectations.

  5. I am currently on board and had booked 6146 for a future cruise due to the positive reviews about extra space/balcony outlook etc. Having now seen inside 5148 (same position as 6146) I am looking to change it due to the position of the bed and settee facing aft and window being on an angle facing forward - hence no view out when in bed/sitting, only view of opposite wall and desk/tv.

  6. How very disappointing and totally frustrating! How many negative tests are you supposed to have before restrictions are lifted? I’m sure there are a ‘few’ who are positive on board and not being so honest - there were a couple on the lido deck yesterday for sail away with a hacking cough - I was glad not to be in an enclosed area with them! New curtains and voile fitted yesterday - neutral colour but don’t think the fabric quality as good as those replaced! Had a very disappointing curry at coriander last night and wished we had dined at Britannia and had the rack of lamb! The folk duo Cula are excellent and have regular spots at the Winter Garden so hopefully you can catch up with them this week.

  7. Beautiful photographs and a lovely day in port! So sorry to hear about your current restrictions and hope Mr HH manages to make a speedy recovery and enjoy some of your remaining days. We are also on board - our first venture since 2019 and are delighted to report that we are finding her as we left her! Some previous negative reviews raised some concerns but we have found them to be totally unfounded in our experience! Service in all areas has been excellent, as has food in the main dining room so far. Enjoying nightly cocktails in the Commodore with hot, cold canapés and nibbles - and particularly enjoying the cocktail pianist! We have dipped in and out of shows - some very good and others not for us. We have particularly enjoyed the very accomplished Imprezza string trio! There are some talented singers/performers, however, we have found the ship to be very quiet on most nights after dinner and as such a bit soulless for those performing! Understandable on strenuous port days but surprised by the lack of interest or stamina on sea days. Delighted to be back on board and looking forward to future cruises! For the most part dress code being adhered to on formal nights and mask wearing generally non existent for passengers.

  8. I suffer from motion sickness and personally prefer sea bands, although I always pack non drowsy travel medication and ginger tea/biscuits. Have coped with choppy waters on the North Sea in an aft cabin. On a TA crossing I opt for a mid ship, lower deck just in case.
