  1. Good move NCL.

After 22 cruises with other lines I'm even happier now that I booked Escape 4 weeks ago.

Looking forward to trying a cruise line that actually sticks it neck out for it's employees.:cool:

  2. I will definitely NOT be putting NCL at the top of our list in the future based on their pricing policies. Especially when they "pressure" you not-so-subtly on their site to book now as their specials all end on August 31st!

Realize going forward that all cruise lines will now "NOT be on the top of your list", since they all have the same policy.

  3. They announced the 3 names a little before 3. Another passenger told me that the mother was on the ship. She was given a choice to stay or had 5 minutes to grab what she could and leave the ship to wait for her daughters as the ship was pulling away.

5 minutes before sail away is way too late for the mother to even try to do anything.

Where was Mom when the girls missed, "All Aboard"??

  4. Be careful what you wish for. We are getting closer and closer to eliminating the mdr. The only food included will be the buffet.

    What?? You can't be serious.

Removing of the MDR is never going to happen.....AND "Choices" are the future.

The Modern Luxury crowd enjoys, prefers selections and will pay for it. The more the better, ask NCL how their doing with their 3 new Meyer-Werft ships, Break Away, Get Away and now Escape ships?

The Escape alone has 8 specialty dining restaurants, 7 free dining restaurants (including the MDR) as well as 10 Bars and Lounges.

  5. Celebrity has made a concerted effort to attract the younger affluent crowd of 30-60, thus the Modern Luxury company motto.

Unfortunately for the ballroom dancer crowd this is not what Celebrity envisions or is going after. My view on ballroom dancing it's in the minority and peoples view that it is perceived to be for the older crowd. Dancing with the stars is a popular show but that's all it is, a show. How many venues in cities are full with ballroom dancing patrons?

Personally I like the direction Celebrity is moving towards with in the Modern Luxury category and was happy to see ballroom dancing phased out in favor for other types of entertainment and dancing dollars. Other cruise lines can embrace this type of dancing which is great for them, but it will not be where I'm spending my cruising money.

  6. I do remember just 5 years ago on the Captain and crew would call out the names of people who have not boarded on time. Seemed like just about every port the ships were waiting and extra hour or two. Now they don't play the baby sitting games and don't call out the names anymore, they just sail away.

Things do happen and problems can occur but the truth of the matter is, if you treat adults like children they will act like CHILDREN. The babysitting days appear to be over, be on time, or bring your wallet and passport with you when you port.

  7. Great move from the so so Panini's to the $25 Seafood Menu. The Modern Luxury crowd wants selections and will pay for it, just ask NCL how their doing with their new Meyer Werft Break Away, Get Away and now Escape ships? :D

Sad to see no oysters, since fresh is the only way, it's for sure fully understood. Ceviche, jumbo prawns, tuna tartare, steamed mussles, mahi tacos, lobster bisque. Can't wait for my January Silhouette cruise!!

  8. I have just came of the Equinox last Friday, and it was the first time I ever complained about anything in a cruise. The complaint was the entertainment and the CD, Eddy Jenkins who in my opinion is in the wrong job. I love celebrity and have had many cruises with fantastic entertainment, but like others have said, I will give them one more chance before choosing another cruise line.

You don't mention any specifics, sure would like to hear. Please elaborate.

  9. Rock Stars.

Well really, (except TA's) Celebrities marketing approach of Modern Luxury is definitely working. They are doing it to lure in the more successful and affluent younger crowd while weeding out (unless their hip) 70-80's crowd, and accept or appreciate the, i.e. modern music, younger shows, more atmosphere, etc. etc.

  10. My thought would be the average age on a TA is mid to late 60's.

I also agree with the earlier poster the preferred TA would be westbound over eastbound. The extra 6 to 7 hours of time zone additions does add up. However, any TA is a great cruise, especially with Celebrity.
