  1. @Saint Greg...that food at 49th Brewery looks yummy! I'm in with @Jamman54...GREAT 1st day looking forward to the next!
  2. @Saint Greg....looks like a homerun or at least a triple score on the Air BnB! Oh your pics from the Trolley Ride are bringing back some great memories.....and you even got to see a moose on the loose.....they are HUGE. I remember mom and I were bike riding on the trail and we practically ran into one on the trail, needed change of undies after that excitment! ENJOY!
  3. @Saint Greg...the Anchorage airport has some really neat displays! Looks like you had a successful travel day....now for some FOOD!
  4. @pirate4me2.... Happy Birthday....whoop it up get into some shenanigans tonight!
  5. Have you seen the Cabana rooms/area? I personally would only book a Havanna inside and use the Havanna exclusive pool/bar area. We are balcony folks but those cabana rooms have no privacy on the outside at all. Horizon as others in that class are too crowded for our liking so that is why we would book Havanna inside. Enjoy your cruise!
  6. @Ready2go11... I had to call HAL twice to get my AARP OBC applied to the 3 cruises I booked. First gal told me I would see the credit in a couple of days. So in a couple of days I checked, nope no OBC. I called HAL a 2nd time explained I had called on Saturday and still no OBC for my 3 cruises. This gal wound up getting a supervisor involved who applied my AARP credit to my 3 cruises I had just booked for 2025. One cruise at $50 OBC and two cruises at $100 each OBC. I had saved my verified AARP membership email that I had received. My AARP membership is paid thru 2028. Such a hassle to go thru this for sure. My TA sent me updated info showing the OBC's on all three cruises. I think if people don't follow thru it will just slide thru the cracks. HAL uses a 3rd party to verify your AARP membership.
  7. Am I reading this correctly, you are flying Alaska Airlines? If so, I have had nothing but positive experiences flying with them....wishing you the same.
  8. Thank you this is very helpful info - Susan
  9. Thank you, so I have been previously informed! I plan on booking as soon as I can. We arrive on May 2 and our cruise departs May 3 but I am sure the marathon will bring lots of folks into town for the weekend. The Y looks like it suits our needs for sure a clean place to sleep and a bathroom for a quick overnite. We will probably be tired as we will be out and about just about all day. Thanks again for the info!
  10. I like their web site...safe part of town? We'd be interested in the discounted bicycle rental to visit Stanley Park.....hoping others who have stayed here will comment. Thanks again!
  11. Thank you I am aware, but the price is OUCH!
  12. I do my own research as to what cabin I would like. I share that cabin selection with my TA and so far never had an issue with getting my choice. I agree the website has been having "issues" for sure. I verified my AARP membership on the HAL website and I had to call into HAL TWICE in order to get my OBC applied to my 3 cruises I had just booked. It took the 2nd call rep getting a SUPERVISOR involved to make it happen. My TA sent me updated confirmation that the OBC has been applied. I think it is a sign of the times in our world today, one must always be looking out for themselves because others do not always follow thru.
  13. We are taking a repositioning cruise San Diego to Vancouver arriving Vancouver May 2, 2025. Will need a one night hotel for May 2 as we board HAL Koningsdam May 3, 2025. We will arrive in Vancouver early early May 2 and most hotel check ins are not until 3 or later. Hopefully wherever we book will allow us to leave our luggage for the day so we can explore via bicycle or hop on hop off. Looking for hotel suggestions that won't cost more than the cruise. I realize it is too early to book that we will have to wait until 2024 to book but I like to do my homework. We are both in our early 70's. Thanks in advance.
  14. @Essiesmom...what a well rounded honest review. Thanks for taking the time to share with us your experiences. I applaud you for still traveling and driving to and from port. My mom is very similar although now at 95 she prefers to stay home. We last traveled together several years ago. She still drives and goes to the gym 3x mornings a week. I really love the photo of you...especially since August 13 is also my birthday I turned 71. We have our first cruise to Hawaii this coming January but I confess I don't do live reivews. I really really enjoyed your perspective of these B2B cruises. Thanks again.
  15. I second the recommendation of F Street Station for EXCELLENT EATS in Anchorage!
  16. @willdra...you and W are the best looking couple! Sounds like T & K are great traveling companions. Those are the ones where you do not need to be in each other's business 24/7! Sorry she got ill, never a fun thing on a cruise for sure, been there done that several times. I purchase gift cards on AARP all the time, saved over $700 on our upcoming cruise to Hawaii using gift cards to pay down the balance..gotta get em while they are in stock!
  17. @Saint Greg...curious, have you been able to utilize NCL gift cards, not sure if or where they are available. I saved over $700 using gift cards for our upcoming Hawaii cruise. Susan
  18. @Saint Greg...all signed up and following. We have at least one thing in common, first 20+ cruises all on Carnival. Now that we have branched out and we no longer are Florida residents with access to all the Florida ports we are testing waters like you. I am fascinated with all your research and love it, as I do the same and find it enjoyable. This time of year in Anchorage is amazing due to the long daylight hours, the flowers are specatcular. Downtown Anchorage has a great Visitors Center and there are many FREE places to see at well. I hope you enjoy the trolley ride we found it very informative but again that was in 2014. Looking forward to following along this one since we have booked B2B in Alaska for 2025!
  19. Thank you....I would not anticipate feeling any vibration being up higher than deck 4.
