  1. Researching a B2B in Alaska 2025 on Nieu Amsterdam. Wondering if anyone has had an aft balcony cabin and experienced any vibrations back there? One cruise on Carnival we were in an aft balcony cabin and the vibrations from the engines were horrible, we could not sleep. The aft balconies look a little more spacious and we spend quite a bit of time in our cabin and on the balcony. I tried searching this forum and got way too many hits that were info on Amsterdam....guess too common a search name! Thanks in advance. Susan
  2. @willdra..WOWZA you have some FANTASTIC photos! Thanks for sharing them with us. Quick question, what app do you use to put your watermark on the photos and do you have to add the watermark to each photo or is it a template....TIA. That pool at Amber Cove reminds me of the pool at Margaritaville in Grand Turk....a HUGE bath tub/toilet waiting to happen....no thank you.....a quiet day on the ship here I come!
  3. Nice place to visit but not to live.....they have grown so much over the years it is frightening!
  4. I hope you were not offended by my insight, it was not intended to be negative just informative. I so enjoy your writing.
  5. @willdra...following with pleasure. As for Margaritaville, it reminds me of the other 55+ in Florida The Villages. I am sure they will be very happy there and stay very active, but those HOA fees are not for me for sure, been there done that, but too each his/her own. Too many politics in those communities...and residents have very little control over the HOA fees that keep rising and rising. Not too mention the cost of homeowners insurance in Florida these days. Just so everyone knows Florida is not all roses and flowers. We lived in central Florida for over 40 years and we left in 2019 and while we still own property there we have it rented out and we do not anticipate residing in that state again we love it out west. Looking forward to your review for sure love your writing.
  6. Hmmmm no walking around the house au natural on cruise arrival day unless you are an exhibitionist!
  7. @YVRteacher...WOW your pictures this port are absolutely STUNNING! Thanks for sharing them with us!
  8. I did a land trip to Denali in 2014 and we took the bus all 92 miles into the end of the road in Denali and stayed at Kantishna Roadhouse lodge for 2 nights....WELL WORTH the 92 miles....for wildlife sighting. If you only plan on Alaska once I would wait until the road will open again. I am looking at Alaska for the 3rd time and will wait until the road is open all the way, but just my two cents.
  9. @Oakman58...just found your review....LOVED IT, ALL OF IT! Trying to decide cruise Alaska out of Seattle or Vancouver. I have cruised Alaska out of Vancouver but now I want to bring my other half and he will not fly. We are HAL all the way and your review with the ports you visited is making Seattle departure VERY appealing. Thanks again for a great review! We also watch Deadliest Catch and I think we would both enjoy that excursion and we are both in our 70's......I can relate to your wife's bum knee issue, just had TKR surgery in November 2022, now I am bionic knee woman!
  10. Well I originated this thread and after reading all the replies I am glad that I decided not to apply for the credit card. It would not get that much use in our household.
  11. A young man after my own heart....a cruise addict in the making!
  12. @Btimmer...thank you for taking us along on your cruise and land tour. I am really enjoying both your CC posting with pics and your Blog as well. It sounds like you are action packed all day every day!
  13. Following....WOW your land portion looks amazing, weather looks great as well! I've been to Alaska twice, once on a cruise, 2nd time on a 7 day land trip. Denali is amazing for sure. Hope they can repair the roadway and get it reopened soon. Looking forward to following the cruise portion of your trip so far it looks like you made the right choice with land first followed by cruise so you can recoup on the ship! FANTASTIC PHOTOS!
  14. That is sad, we really enjoyed that venue, they are talented musicians.
  15. @Btimmer...OMG what great photos! Can you share with us if the Noordam has BB Kings on board? Looking at cruising Alaska during shoulder season and Noordam is one of the ship choices. TIA Susan
  16. @YVRteacher...BRAVO so enjoying your reviews, glad I found them! You are a woman after my own heart! So enjoy your photos and the photos of the flowers remind me of photos I took in Alaska of the flowers! Enjoy your time and sorry about the poor food, definitely a bummer! ....and those parents with babies in hot tubs need to be sent to parenting classes for sure.
  17. @Btimmer...the memories you are providing for Jakob will last a lifetime! I am 71 and the memories my dad and mom provided me in my youth of traveling remain with me today...that's part of the reason I am a full time RVer and cruiser! Enjoy the rest of your trip look forward to catching up on your blog!
  18. Thanks to all for everyone's replies. We won't be jumping on any new cc's offers anytime soon. It is definitely best to do your homework before jumping in with both feet!
  19. @Btimmer...yes thank you for the blog link, I read it every day. Thank heavens your grandson is ok. Will be interesting to read what on earth happened and even how it possibly could happen, no excuses for sure. Stay safe!
  20. @jimbo5544....thanks for taking us along on another fantastic voyage. I have followed your reviews for years and when I grow up hope to be able to cruise like you! First I have to convince my other half to fly someplace, he won't fly! Things have a way of working out for sure. Looking forward to following along your Greenland adventure. My favorite ships for sure are the smaller ships.
  21. Yes this is correct! Limited to 5 cards per month per member purchase. I have been very happy with paying for my cruise this way. Simply contact your TA with the gift card # and pin number and they apply it or contact the cruise line directly if that is how you booked.
  22. Going out in style! It has been a relaxing cruise even from my recliner. Thanks for letting us join in your fun.
