  1. Royal's long term debt is over $20 billion. The ships on order will add another $10 billion. I guess they want to challenge Carnival for the title.
  2. Next time consider using the free Carnival branded credit card which gets you discounts on shore excursions.
  3. $5 for an extra lobster is cheap. Celebrity wants at least 3 times that for each lobster after 1 and they are no bigger.
  4. Looking at other boards, I sometimes even see the same people complaining about the same things. 😉
  5. According to some, they just feed it to the crew later. I don't pose for pictures so I contribute nothing to that number. If someone is concerned about picture waste, perhaps they should stop posing for pictures?
  6. I enjoyed those, but often they were a stretch.
  7. What cruise line has MDR menus on a ship by ship basis? Brisket is typically on the first night. The short ribs are better.
  8. I suppose at some point it expires and becomes free money, just as the $600 OBC for COVID cancellations did (sort of). All I had was a deposit - I think $200. But it was from a cruise I decided I wasn't going to take to one I'm going on hell or high water. At no time did I consider my money being held hostage. I booked a cruise I should have thought twice about. The blame is on me. I'm not going to whine about it or look to shift blame elsewhere.
  9. I stii see the TA to blame in case one, and I would dump Capital One in case two.
  10. Mebbe. Carnival still has a partnership in China with two new builds underway. Adora Cruises is still alive and sounds like it will be innovative https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2023/01/construction-of-second-adora-cruises-newbuild-progressing-in-china/
  11. Carnival does make subtle changes to menus. CC is littered with howls about how this or that is gone or this steak has replaced that steak. The howling was particularly loud when there was a complete revamp and American Table was introduced. I think a revamp is what you are thinking of. I don't see that as a possibility. With the addition of Emeril to the dining team, I do expect there will be more subtle changes over the next few months, but doubt he will eliminate Chocolate Melting cake.
  12. The gift cards are not a scam. Even through all of the COVID cancellations and rebookings, Carnival was able to tell me to the penny the source of all the funds on a booking. I will be purchasing more when my next Carnival cruise final payment is due.
  13. A dry dock isn't required, and in theory, Spirit had a dry dock in 2021. Did Spirit have the new livery?
  14. No different on other cruise lines. Carnival spent a lot of money replacing the table tops on the other ships. These days tablecloths might be cost effective.
  15. Never had a problem with using them. Perhaps the issue was using a TA.
  16. The CEO was certainly evil. Good luck these days when all my pictures are automatically backed up to the
  17. You can certainly take an empty mug off and fill on shore.
  18. Four 14 day cruises can get you $1000 in OBC and often b2b cruises can work the same. Longer cruises often cost less per day than shorter cruises, can be more interesting, and have fewer kids. Nothing says you have to hold the stock forever; you can buy and sell as often as you like, subject to things like wash sales, etc. Whoever owns the stock has to be an occupant in the cabin that gets the OBC.
  19. HAL has had 4 ships named Nieuw Amsterdam.
  20. A quick check and my luggage tags were at least 4 different colors over the past year. I even think port and starboard cabins might have had different colors. I can report the color of the luggage tag had no impact on my cruises. 👍👍👍
  21. They better not delay too long because important people need to board Venezia the next day. Depending on what is going on, they could make all dining open seating. That has happened to us before.
  22. And who didn't reapply and receive the OBC. If you can get past the hearsay by anonymous people
  23. Cruise line stocks (and more) might drop tomorrow with oil production cuts being announced.
  24. In other news, expect the stock to fall tomorrow because the Saudi Arabia and others have announced production cuts. Could be a buying opportunity.
