  1. I was on Regal twice last year and don't remember anything negative about the ship. I might be more concerned about the port intensive itinerary, but since your Mom is the one that picked it, no worries. The ship is not the destination.
  2. Yes, I ran into the Lone Star Rally last year. No wonder the cruise was so cheap.
  3. sometimes it is demand and supply. Perhaps the most well-know of Doug’s dogs is the “Foie Gras and Sauternes Duck Sausage” ($10) with truffle aioli, foie gras mousse, and fleur de sel. While the duck sausage was nice and meaty, it was the gentle slices of foie gras mousse that put this dog over the top. The sprinkle of coarse salt was essential for keeping the liver’s richness in check. This dog lived up to its hype and then some.
  4. Many don't know what foie gras even is. Supply and demand are why gold and silver prices are different.
  5. Probably has already monetized it for more than her alleged losses.
  6. There is a difference, but some people just prefer hot dogs to foie gras.
  7. The road to Galveston has been under construction for the past 300 years or so. An accident can cause a delay for a week or more. Only slight exaggerations. More than once a ship has sailed from Galveston without a brand or two of liquor because a liquor delivery truck couldn't make it in time.
  8. Carnival has been paying down debt early or they would have shown profits. The cost of a minimal dividend is minimal; the message if projects is far greater. Individual investors don't really matter; institutions do.
  9. I see the dividend beginning at 0.10 and interest rates starting to decline allowing better refinance terms. So far, Carnival hasn't had trouble extending debt, yet paying it down ahead of schedule.
  10. no change of scenery daily.. food is too subjective to debate
  11. Nobody is irreplaceable, and some should try other lines.
  12. The all-inclusives that compete with cruising are significantly higher in cost.
  13. We're not big fans of Greece, anyway. Already seen the ruins of interest. No interest in ever cruising again to St Petersburg, although the city itself is amazing.
  14. Given the difficulties (lack of water) river cruising has these days in Europe, I don't think any new players are looking to enter. In the US, the boats would have to be US flagged and that is an automatic loser.
  15. CCL has suspended the dividend before. This was the explanation in 2010 for resumption. "Resuming the quarterly dividend demonstrates our confidence in the earnings power of our global cruise brands despite the current economic environment. In addition, there has been a notable improvement in our access to the capital markets since the suspension was announced at the height of the financial crisis. Initiating the dividend at this level allows us to begin to return cash to shareholders at the peak of our capital expenditure program in 2010 and still maintain our strong balance sheet and solid investment grade credit rating. We are committed to returning cash to shareholders and expect to grow the dividend as our capital investment program slows beyond 2010 leading to significant free cash flow," said Micky Arison, Carnival Corporation & plc chairman and CEO." Shareholder OBC does nothing for the institutions that hold most of the CCL stock.
  16. I think less than 3 years for a small one. Perception matters.
  17. Have you priced out a 7 day Disney vacation this decade? They may compete for vacation dollars, but they aren't competition.
  18. Servicing of cabins once per day started pre-covid. The price of pork and so bacon skyrocketed post-covid. Bacon is still available everyday on Carnival. Carnival was charging for many room service items pre-covid. Pizza is available 24 hours.
  19. Seems petty to me. I don't understand the drama. If you don't want to cruise on Carnival, fine. Nobody is forced to. You will miss it. Or not.
  20. It shows on mine. Perhaps you have some other filter enabled that is causing that.
  21. This was the menu on our recent Carnival Legend cruise: QR-Steakhouse-FandB-Oyster - Copy.pdf
  22. Princess didn't on my last few cruises. Not self-serv, either.
