  1. Here's the deal, my sister wants to fly into Charleston SC for our cruise, where I will meet her at the airport. No she's not flying same day.. lol then after the cruise she's riding back to Knoxville Tn to spend a few days with me. Now I'm looking for flights without having to book one ways.

Anybody have any helpful advice? I'm at a loss here..

  2. I guess maybe I should have specified that I will be sailing on Carnival. Does Carnival provide beach towels in the cabana? The website lists the snacks, bottled water, soft drinks, snorkel gear, etc. But no mention of beach towels. We could always bring a few from the ship, but don't want the extra stuff to worry about if it isn't necessary.

Yes, towels will be provided, and there are float mats also.

  3. I could only BE so lucky!! :D

As far as the cabana, I read somewhere that there is someone that keeps the drinks & snacks replinished up to a certain time. Is this correct and do you tip the helper?

Uh, no, you will get one offering, its a big one, and will hold you until lunch for sure. The bar drink folks come around, but its usually quicker to walk to the bar and get it.

  4. On our cruse on Ecstasy earlier this month, the Steward asked and I told him evenings would be best for us as we sleep late some mornings. Little did we know, every time we left the room in the am, we would come back to neat and tidy. He was a SUPER steward and answered our every need, every time quickly.

I don't think it matters which time you pick anyway, get over yourselves, and enjoy the cruise.

  5. We haven't seen much detail on the Ocean Cabanas here yet. Just curious why you say you'd definite rent one next time? Our biggest concern is that pictures make them look so isolated. How close were they to the pool? We have young adults (18, 21 and 21) and I think they'd rather be closer to the action but we all love the way the ocean cabanas look.

They are a bit further away from the pool, but not isolated. The best part will be you won't hear as much noise from the pool area. they put on a loud show with dancing girls spraying liquor from water guns at some point and that was loud, but fun to watch.

The cabana's are absolutely perfect, I could live in one forever. Locking doors, fridge, comfy furniture, tv, ceiling fan, misting fan on the deck. Chips and dip, and cookies, and candy basket also. Bunches of soft drinks and water in the fridge. All included. Cabana has AC for a cool nap after sunning. What more could any one want?

  6. Is there any way that you could post them or a link to a PDF to them here? I would love to see what types of activities they have going on. :)

This is actually the whole reason I came to CC this morning. I haven't been on here in FOREVER it seems!

Well heck, I would if I could figure out how to do it, but I can't so, no, sorry.. I'm an idiot..

  7. We were in Pool cabana #1 and had absolutely no issues with the zip line being overhead. Honestly, it was fun trying to catch the zipliners in a photo.

They had lovely food, and we ordered several things which I can't remember now. I just remember they were all delicious and plenty to eat.

You do not know which cabana you will get when you pre-order on Carnival, they just took us in order starting with the first to show up.

    Absolutely no beach anywhere.

They do have excellent life guards at the pool, we saw one dive in and drag a kid to the shallow end very quickly.

The restrooms were spotless and very close.

The pedicabs were wonderful for me, since I have no stamina as of yet, and we paid them well, yes, its whatever you want to pay them. A nice treat. Every local we ran into was very happy, nice, interesting and glad to see us there. (not to mention beautiful, honestly, those girls had the loveliest skin.)

When you are ready to leave, just let your service person know, and they will bring a bill, and you can pay in cash or credit card.

We ordered a bucket of Beer, and two orders of food, and our bill came to 42$. Each order of food was enough for two people.. I have to eat every two hours, which is why we had staggered orders.

  8. I have the Fun Times from the first sailing out of Charleston..

Some answers: Normally the first and last sea day is the Formal nights, but ours was postponed a day because of Super bowl..

    Any more questions?

This was a 7 day cruise.. Not sure about a 5.

Amber Cover was wonderful, and we rented a Poolside cabana, next time will be an Ocean cabana for sure.

  9. We were there at the same time! We rented a poolside cabana, and it was beautiful. Well attended, food and drink available anytime. Very comfortable area to get out of the sun, and keep an eye on the pool at the same time. Food was delicious, and plenty of "free" food that came with the cabana. Next time we will rent an ocean side Cabana, for sure.

I will be happier when they get in a bit more shops.

  10. You would be better off turning the phones off and putting them in the safe. Keep post-it notes and everyone post where they are going, and all meet up for meals in a designated spot.

Some first time cruisers don't and really run up hundreds of dollars in phone bills on a 7 day cruise. I also have Verizon and would never use them on a cruise. JMO..

Good luck, have a great cruise!

You will find the ship small enough you will run into your relatives everywhere. ;)

  11. It is well worth the money, if your at all interested in the ship workings and crew.

It is a long tour, and you visit so much of the ship I'm not going to list it here. No, you can't smuggle a camera or phone in. You have to wear closed toe shoes.

    You visit

    stage area,

    food prep area's

    food storage area

    laundry

    crew dining room

    crew training center

    I 95

    crew lounge

    Galley

    Engine control room

    Bridge

I know there are more areas but this is a quick list. They take several photos, and will bring them to your cabin. You get a chance to chat with someone at every stop.

A lot of stairs, so be prepared. You are escorted by security also..

I've done it many times, and even more than once on the same ship. I learn something new every time.

When they stroll you up I 95 take a look at the maps on the wall. I was most impressed with them. A complete layout of the ship. I wish I could buy one somewhere. lol

    I'm a bit of a "ship" geek.
