  1. We don't have a "usual" yet as we are still "movin' on up." We started sailing in Jr. Suites because we needed the tub/shower. Our last cruise (pre-Covid) was a B2B in a Grand Suite. Our next cruise (tomorrow 🤩) is in an Owner's Suite for our 25th anniversary. We'll probably fall back to Grand Suites in the future, but we'll see...
  2. Passengers relegated to sheepishly asking "Please sir, may I have some more?"
  3. Noobie here... Is it legal to have a pass line bet and then at some point switch to a don't come bet, having both up at the same time?
  4. I second Princess for Alaska. They've been doing it for decades and have the best infrastructure and permits for the glaciers. Also, do a land package that includes Denali National Park and the train ride back to Whittier. And do the land portion first, so you can pamper yourself on the ship for the next seven days. Fly into Anchorage and return from Vancouver.
  5. NordVPN has a feature called Obfuscated Servers which is supposed to hide the fact that you are using a VPN. This is supposed to get around wifi implementations that block VPN access.
  6. Prior to COVID-19, RCL used to alternate between Cozumel-Roatan-Costa Maya and Cozumel-Grand Cayman-Jamaica. Still not great, but at least there were two choices.
  7. I didn't mind being asked how the service was going or to score 10s on the survey, but there was a period when they would interrupt dinner to upsell the specialty dining. That bothered me.
  8. Yay!!! Now I don't have to get tested for my April cruise on the Allure!
  9. It's too bad that Royal doesn't do what Disney Cruise Lines does with their cabin phones. Disney cabin phones are portable and act as intercoms between the handsets in a room. There are two of them and they work around the ship and between the ship and Castaway Cay. I found them to be quite convenient when I was separated from my wife on the ship.
  10. The Liberty out of Galveston had only two seven-night routes they rotate that the Allure will likely adopt, too: 1. Cozumel->Grand Cayman->Jamaica 2. Cozumel->Roatan->Costa Maya An officer once told me they are limited in their destinations because Galveston is the furthest north departure port that serves the Caribbean.
  11. Probably not from Florida, but with the new Galveston terminal getting promoted with the movement of the Allure here, Roatan is a frequent stop on the 7-night cruises from Galveston. I'm on the Allure in April. It won't be up to Royal to drop testing, that's a decision to be made by the Honduran government, I'm afraid.
  12. Rats! My cruise on Allure in April stops at Roatan.
  13. I think that's exactly what it is. My TA who booked my April cruise on Allure is on this cruise, so it must be for Houston-area travel agents to get them familiar with the ship and get them to book customers as much as possible on it.
  14. Drones are also useful when flown at about six feet off the ground for couples who want a picture of themselves with a grand background behind them. No more pictures of just me or just my wife! Let people see that we were both there!
  15. Many of my cruises have been booked within the final payment date, so I was always paying the whole fare at once. My current booking is probably the furthest out I've ever booked, so I'm going to pay within a week of my final payment date.
  16. We lost a Bose noise canceling headphone on the land portion of an Alaska land/sea trip on Princess. I put it into the lost and found on Chargeback and they eventually found it. I paid for the shipping for its return. It was a good thing that Princess has their own lodges for the land portion of the trip.
  17. On our last cruise in January 2019, we were returning to Galveston when we were delayed because the Coast Guard closed the port due to two ships colliding earlier in the morning due to fog. Two people were missing, and the Coast Guard was conducting search and rescue missions. We were finally able to dock at about 3:00pm. The fog started rolling back in during our drive home, and when I checked later, the Enchantment had not been able to depart until the next day.
  18. Rats! I had a brain freeze. My anniversary is on April 18th, and we're on the April 14th cruise.
  19. I heard that the entertainment on that ship is one guy with a drum, and they play the same song over and over and over... My favorite is "Ramming Speed". It's got a beat you can dance to, if not for the chains on my feet...
  20. No, I was questioning why RCL would choose to make you board at the risk of more harm to the overall cruise instead of just refunding your fares given how severe the symptoms already were.
  21. What I find disappointing about this aspect of the story is what was RCI thinking? They used to ask on the questionnaire whether one had a runny nose, a cough, diarrhea. I always wondered what they would do if I ever answered yes to any of those. But with your wife's symptoms (vomiting, fever, headache, muscle aches, chills, runny nose), what are the odds of things getting worse rather than getting better, especially with her preconditions? What are the odds of her illness progressing beyond the point of the medical center's ability to properly address it? What are the odds of having to divert the ship to handle an extreme emergency situation knowing her condition at the terminal versus canceling your cruise and refunding the cost of two fares?
  22. Following along for my April 25th anniversary cruise to Cozumel.
  23. I have not had any of these problems personally, but for once I would like to hear someone from RCL HQ admit that 1) they are aware of rampant quality control problems in their customer-facing order processing systems, and 2) for business reasons they have intentionally deprioritized resolving these issues, choosing instead to handle them manually on a case-by-case basis as they arise.
