  1. My thoughts on island Princess, smaller and older than other Princess ships. I like the smaller with fewer passengers! We were on the Island last year and we will be on her again in August 2023. Excellent itinerary for both cruises. Iceland and Greenland last year. British Isles circle with Scotland and Wales this year. Cheers! seachelt
  2. This has not been my experience. It shows me the price in the currency of the country that I am in whenever I travel. Happy trails! Seachelt
  3. I'm in Canada also. Whenever I go to Princess website I get the prices in $CAD. Should work for you also when you are in Canada. Seachelt
  4. If there isn't already one in your cabin, just ask your room steward to bring one. Happy cruising! Seachelt
  5. Thanks very much for sharing your experience! Tomorrow is final payment (although we paid 💲💲 in full 2 weeks ago), so we will keep checking✔️ Also thanks to others for your reassurance that with a guarantee we will in fact be aboard🛳️ Seachelt
  6. What is the latest that you have received your stateroom number with a guarantee booking? We are on the Insignia in September, and got an upgrade from a B2 balcony to an A2 concierge guarantee. i know that the stateroom confirmation can come at any time up until departure, but could anyone share their experience with this please. thank you. seachelt
  7. Yeah, a couple of things Steelers36: we do not have a US credit card. At the time of booking we had a complete dud of a TA, and she insisted that we bring her the final payment in $US. We are on the Sunshine Coast of BC and she is on Vancouver Island. You might be able to imagine how inconvenient that was with ferries and buses to contend with. I do not time travel, so I'm unable to now go back and do things differently. We now use another TA. But we would still not consider taking $2000.US in OBC! Good that booking in $US works for you. So far we are happy with our new US based TA booking for us in $CAD.
  8. I had a similar experience with 2000US$ in gift cards. In order to use the $US, I had to book and pay for the entire cruise in $US. Cannot mix currencies. It did not work to our advantage and we will never purchase gift cards again. Good luck with your booking. seachelt
  9. No La Patisserie on the Island. Sadly. However Good Spirits at Sea sometimes has a few small sandwiches or snacks. seachelt
  10. In my experience, if you are paying cash you can book your excursions any time after you book the cruise. Go ahead and try it. Enjoy your cruise! seachelt
  11. Oceania cruises post-covid: October 18 to November 7 2021 Riviera Mediterranean December 18/2022 to January 8/2023 Marina Amazon Holiday Oceania cruise upcoming: September 20 to 27 2023 Insignia NY to NY also a couple of Princess post covid.and upcoming in 2023 Happy cruising to all!
  12. We have the Princess transfer Heathrow to ship, and from ship to Heathrow. We have been charged $79.90 per person each way. Total $310.60 CAD We had cancelled our booking and rebooked with over $2000. CAD saving so I’m happy with the transfer cost. This is for an August cruise. seachelt
  13. Certainly. We had booked Deck 7, cabin PR723. We were moved to Deck 10, cabin C537. If you look at the Island deck plan you will see that PR723 has a "white area" on each side of it. It's a lovely cabin, great extended balcony BUT the white area contains what sound like industrial fans/blowers that operate 24/7 making sleep or balcony enjoyment impossible. C537 is a premium balcony cabin with a lovely extended balcony, all good. When we booked our upcoming cruise this cabin was not available so we are booked in the adjacent C539.☺️ seachelt
  14. We cruised on the Island last year to Iceland and Greenland. We requested to be moved to a different cabin due to extreme noise in our origingal cabin. Moved to a premium balcony and were very happy with the ship, food and service etc. We have booked again for this coming fall.
  15. I have had success calling Oceania directly, courteous and helpful.
  16. Great report, interesting pictures. Thanks! We will be on the Island Princess in September, so we are following your posts. Enjoy every minute. seachelt
  17. We are currently on Marina in 7009, the first extended balcony port side at the front of the ship. The cabin beside us is the last of the narrow balconies. There is no obstruction to their view (although they can see us when we are near our railings) I’m sure this configuration applies to the aft cabins also. seachelt
  18. Yes! Enjoy your cruise on Oceania. seachelt
  19. We do not use plastic bottles either. On Marina now, and the Oceania non insulated metal bottles have been working well for us. The cap has a reliable seal, no water leaking in backpacks. seachelt
  20. I got an email from my TA today regarding a booking we made onboard a few days ago. The email says that we have until January 4th to prepay the gratuities for our September cruise if we want to pay at the current rate. Seachelt
  21. This morning on Marina a fellow guest very ungraciously returned a board to reception, with complaints…environment, weight, complete waste etc. I mentioned that there is a couple on the ship who would gladly accept a board, but my “assistance “ was not well received.🫢 seachelt
  22. We are on the Marina now. One of those beautiful boards was delivered to our cabin last night. seachelt
  23. Our cruise departs on December 18th, and we received our cruise booklet about 3 weeks ago direct from Oceania although we booked through a travel agent. Seachelt
  24. We bring our own wine and our own corkscrew. Housekeeping could probably find you a corkscrew but we have never asked. No corkage fee if you enjoy your wine in your own cabin. Corkage fee is payable when you bring your own wine to any of the dining rooms. Seachelt
  25. Of course they only ship the Medallions to US customers. So they are expecting those of us from other countries to pay for a “benefit” that isn’t available to us? Really? seachelt
