  1. It is perfectly safe to carry a large amount of cash in my opinion. We actually do mission work at a church there. With the cash we bring for a food bank, items for the school and other donations. usually have several thousand dollars cash with us. We have stayed in Roatan at a resort. Most places there want cash, so we often travel with a large amount of cash. We have always felt safe visiting there. Whether it was just for the day on a ship or 2 weeks at a place in West Bay.
  2. Rony or Arnold. We love them both!!!
  3. We are very generous tippers. You will get great service with Rony regardless. We usually to at least $20 per person. Rony helps his community, we appreciate him so much. We've become good friends over 15+years. Something specific you may not be aware of: Please go to your bank and get bills that are not written on or torn. If the money is not in good shape, the exchange rate for them locally is lower.
  4. We love the larger ships. But, I feel the exact same way about the volume. I think lots of music and activity is great, but not sure why it needs to be soooo loud. I would like to have a conversation at the pool, but last cruise we found ourselves yelling to communicate. It won't stop us from cruising for sure!
  5. Stingray Sailings has a great catamaran with shade. We've gone with them at least 7 times. Their boat holds 30+/-, but they limit the group to 20 passengers. I can't imagine going with a ship excursion. Start with a bus full of people, get shuttled to a double decker boat full of people, crowd around rays to try to get a picture. No thanks. The experience can be so different. We've talked to so many people who wished they would have gone with a private tour. It's so relaxing. Great snorkel gear. Lots of rays- easy to take tons of pictures.
  6. Sorry, I'm not sure if the price for loungers or all inclusive there. I'm not sure of their options. You could email them directly. We went to Infinity last time. The time before that, we spent 10 days at Paradise. So, I'm just not sure of their current pricing. Infinity if really nice as well with a huge pool. Directly out from the resort is the reef with fabulous snorkeling. Don't is a GREAT guide, but I don't live his website. If you book his freestyle tour, he will take you anywhere you want to go. Of all the parks, Mayan Eden is it favorite. I would skip the chocolate factory and spend the maximum amount of time at the beach. It's a little store that does a demonstration. NoT super interesting, IMO.
  7. We've been on Carnival many times, but this is a new situation since we couldn't get a fixed dining time. 14 in our group. We may want to dine by ourselves, with another couple, or with 3 other couples. How can we do this each night? I understand that we need to request a table on the app, but, it's there a way to add other cabins?
  8. It's absolutely possible to do all of the things on your list. I can save you a lot of time. Book with Ronystours.com. We have known him for over 15 years. We have toured with him once or twice every year. We always book his freestyle tour. We can spend the whole day at our own pace. He and his drivers speak great English(don't assume all drivers will). He is very reliable and friendly. We have been to Roatan at least 20 times, some cruising and several resort stays. This is my opinion of a great day based on what you'd like to do: Start with a visit to Mayan Eden. We have been to all the monkey and sloth parks and this is our favorite by far. The monkeys and sloths roam free. Your guide will have food and the monkeys will happily come "play". Lots of opportunity for great photos. The guide will climb a tree and get a sloth for you to hold. There are lots of other animals to see and a python to hold as well as toucans and parrots. There is a nice photo op on a swinging bridge. With the freestyle tour, you can stay as long a you like - no rushing. Next, visit the rum factory. Try some samples. Bring home some chocolate or coconut rum. Spend the rest of the day at West Bay. We prefer Paradise Beach. Walk to your left(facing the ocean). You will pass a small shack renting snorkel gear for the day $25+/-. Walk to the lifeguard chair and go straight into the water. I think this is the best beach entry snorkel in t Caribbean. No need to hire a boat, a beautiful reef is just off shore. There is an incredible amount of beautiful sealife including huge parrot fish and schools of squid. Relax and float over the reef. Don't miss the tiny colorful fish. This beach has the clearest water you can find. There is nice sand and great snorkeling right off shore - a rare combination. I'm a very thorough planner and I always want to make the most of every port. I highly recommend Rony and the places I mentioned. I'm sure you'll have a memorable day! Go back to the ship 1 hour before the all aboard time. This is plenty of time even with a delay and will allow you to make the most of your day.
  9. We like Mayan Eden. We always go with Ronystours.com. if you book his freestyle tour, you are completely free to go wherever you want on your own time. At Mayan Eden, the monkeys and sloths roam free. It's definitely our favorite sanctuary.
  10. We always book directly with Rony. I wouldn't take a chance on getting a random driver. Many of the drivers there speak very little English. Rony and his drivers have great English and can make sure you have the best day possible!
  11. Can anyone confirm the procedure for tendering in Grand Cayman. I've read conflicting information. One said- Go to a specific location at 7:30am and get a ticket. Another said - go to a specific location when you are ready to get off and wait your turn. Thanks for any help!
  12. We've been on 5 MSC total - 2 on Meriviglia. Beautiful ship we wouldn't hesitate to return. With all of the lines increasing prices, MSC is the best value to us.
  13. If you are talking about Rony's tours, you can see the options on his website. Choose the freestyle tour. This will give you a driver for the entire day. You can choose where you'd like to go and how long you would like to stay. Your driver could also make suggestions after speaking with you. We've been there many times - our favorites are Mayan Eden, South Shore canopy zipline and West Bay Beach - the crystal clear water is amazing!
  14. My daughter just renewed hers and her boyfriend got his first passport. We didn't pay to expedite since we have lots of time until our next cruise. They only took 17 days.
  15. If you contact Rony. He can meet you as soon as the ship starts allowing passengers off and take you directly to Myan Eden. When we were there, we only saw about ten other people. We were just there last month. We walked through leisurely and had all the time we wanted with the animals.
  16. Yes, it's our favorite of all of them. We've been there 6 times. Our kids want to go back every time we are in Roatan. The monkeys are not aggressive at all. They are in the trees and roaming around. Your guide will hold out food and they will come. Otherwise, they won't even come to you. There are sloths and a large snake to hold as well as toucans and parrots. Spider monkeys and some other animals are in cages. There is also a suspended bridge for some nice pics. I certainly respect everyone's opinion. However, we have known Rony for 15+ years and trust him completely. Also, if you want nice pictures with the animals, it is difficult if you are on an excursion with 40 people who also want pictures. It's nice to just sit and watch the animals and take your time. Mayan Eden is only 10-15 minutes from port, so not far too and from the ship.
  17. I'm quite fluffy myself. We've spent the day with Stingray Sailing at least 7 or 8 times. They are great. Chip, the owner, makes sure everyone can get back on the boat. Their boat is the best by far. When you get to the sandbar and look around at the other boats, you will be so glad that you chose them. Lots of space on the boat and really nice snorkel equipment. I highly recommend them!
  18. We've toured with Rony at least 12-14 times. He is completely trustworthy. I highly recommend him and his drivers for a great day. We've been to all the monkey and sloth parks. Mayan Eden is our favorite. The monkeys are just roaming around, not in cages. This park is best when you are not with a ship tour. With Rony you can stop at other sights if you like. No timelines or groups of people. Take a much time as you like. Perfect day!
  19. We've been touring with Ronystours.com for years. I highly recommend him. You'll get a private driver for the day. They will make sure you have a great day for sure!!!
  20. This is probably an unlikely recommendation. We just returned from MSC Magnifica with our daughter and 16 month old. They have a play area with slides and things to climb in. The have a large air conditioned playroom with lots of toys. In the same area is a small shallow pool. The website says no swim diapers. However, we never saw a single crew or lifeguard in this area. There it's also a large. open area to run. This was a great ship for us.
  21. We just stayed at Holiday Inn Express Airport East. This will be our "airport hotel" from now on. The rooms are large, plenty of parking, really clean rooms, and absolutely heavenly beds! Nice breakfast too!
  22. Magnufuca is older by far. We've done Seaside, Seascape, and Meriviglia. Definitely not as nice but we still had a great time. Every cruise is what you make it. Don't miss the shows - we thought they were very good.
  23. We just returned last week. We were at Punta Langosta. Just a side note. Despite the reviews we read we really liked the cruise.
  24. What is the cost? Do they still have 3D motion the theater?
