Thanks, not good for gym users etc or for those wanting to use the steam room

On the other ships they used a much simpler solution, the door to the spa deck had a lock that could only be activated by eligible sea passes.  So those who could not use the spa deck could still use the steam room and the showers.

Look forward to hearing from others on how it shapes out on Onward in the coming cruises as to whether this is another new cutback policy for the lesser mortals

Currently you do not require a key card to access the door to the spa terrace. This may change as contractors are on board carrying out various jobs including work on some doors. I don't know if the spa terrace doors are included in this.

I read on the Cabin Upgrade thread that on Onward guests who are not in the top suites cannot access the Spa changing rooms, showers or steam rooms.  Can anyone confirm if this is a new policy.  (It has already been reported that the suites could not use the front verandah).  It is very disappointing if these facilities have now been withdrawn for all guests other than those in the Club World and Club Owners suites.

This appears to be correct but I don't know if its policy or new staff not familiar with procedures. I was told you had to purchase a pass to get past the reception desk (if you didn't have a spa appointment). Definitely the spa terrace is only free for the big suites and as there is access to that from the showers and changing rooms I guess that's why that access would be restricted.

Still no officers dinners with groups of guests on any ship

Bingo was offered on Journey, they offer it once, they only offer it a second time if there is reasonable take up on the first game.  Very few play these days

Whilst not strictly hosting the table Iwan (f&b manager) was at our Chef's Table in full uniform.

Good. The menu shown wasn’t that appealing to me compared to the existing French menu, and the wines are not nearly as good (or as varied) as what we had on Journey last week. Maybe future iterations will appeal more to me, and they surely will to those who are tired of the existing menus.

Interestingly people on this cruise who had both the French chefs table and the guest chefs table were much more impressed by the latter. But each to their own I guess.

Do you know if this guest chef table will be offered on all ships?

The plan is to extend this to all ships using guest chefs relevant to the area the ship is sailing. It will not be offered on all sailings but to a few throughout the year.

If the event is onboard it is not supposed to be called Azamazing Evening it is supposed to be called destination celebration to clearly differentiate it is similar but not the same.
    Who called it Azamazing Evening?
If it was in the printed material that’s a big boob

It was promoted as destination celebration on all the printed material and Eric announced it as such.

  7. Managed to get to the guest chefs table last night. Only one word to describe it - stunning. Two and a half hours of wonderful food accompanied by lovely wines. The wines apparently nearly didn't make the sailing as they were put on Pusuit in Ravenna and had to be rescued by Iwan.20221019_161927.thumb.jpg.eedc00dca76c01bda691f08d23751938.jpg

hey mwf7501 a few people including us have been curious about the condition and refurbishment of the owners suites on onward.  There are currently no videos of that cabin category and we have not seen any comments about the cabin.  If you have a moment could you describe what was refurbished and what was not?  We are really also hoping someone has time to post a video of an owners suite.  We have an owners suite booked for April, so curiosity abounds.  Thx.

All the interior of the owners suite have been refurbished and in a very good state. The rails on the veranda and are veranda doors have not been refreshed. The bathroom shower is excellent both in size and the selection of different jets of water you can have.

Belfastman, check the forward port and starboard corners (ceiling) of the Living Room. They were in need of a real tidy and upgrade of paint etc when we onboard earlier in the year.

If they are fixed and tidied that's a good sign of ongoing repairs and maintenance.

Just checked living room ceiling and they look very neat and freshly painted.

Thanks for the heads up Belfastman.

We're onboard very soon and there are a couple of cruises we're very interested in so I was wondering what the onboard offers would be.

I'm Discoverer plus. So as it's normally 7% discount, am I correct in thinking that double discount gives us 14% off plus an additional 10% for a total of 24% discount on the published fares?

I ask at that sounds too good to be true? Or is the 10% already applied as part of a current offer?

    Thanks in advance.

The discount is 22% based on your loyality level the taxes and fees are excluded from the 10% portion.

  11. Many of the issues have been sorted out however a few minor things are still needing attention. Eg. The rail in the elevators are going to be replaced soon as they are very poor and the rail along balconies need varnishing. Staffing is now full complement. The Atlas bar is lovely and  great addition.

We’re on pursuit now and trying to book a European cruise for next year. The future cruise lady doesn’t know about this. Should she?

The future cruise man on Onward informs me that it ends on 19 November 2022 on Pursuit and applies to all European cruises booked on board.

  13. New concept for Az being trialled on Onward at present. They have a guest Michelin starred chef- Michael Sandoval who is going to do three chefs tables (all sold out within a day). He did a presentation today and I believe he is very good.16658674092016937502709096119623.thumb.jpg.fb50b56168719c486405cfaa56387051.jpg

Any idea how long this will be running for? We board Onward two weeks today with plans to book a 2024 cruise.

The offer runs until 20th of November 22 but only applies to Europe cruises in 2023.

  15. Currently anyone booking a future cruise while on board gets a great offer for European cruises. The savings are 10% ÷ double discount for you loyality level. So for a discoverer plus you get approx 22% off the future cruise.

I wish I didn't say this but the wines are being misrepresented. I couldn't do that in my business and that should be corrected as it excuse the pun, does leave a bad taste in one's mouth! This is the current program and discounts

We have been told on board now that this list is out of date but they haven't got the new one available yet. The ultimate package wines are printed in the front of the restaurant wine menu.

Currently onboard Onward. Very mixed feelings so far. Travel arrangements by Azamara were awful and highly stressful so we arrived in a poor state.

I can't say I'd call this a luxury cruise and could hear others complaining loudly about arrivals procedures. The cabin is nice but we had to remind staff about what was supposed to be provided.

Dinner last night was nice. Aqualina breakfast service was frankly poor and the menu much reduced compared to other breakfast venues on the ship. It feels like they don't want to provide it.

So far I'm glad we're back to Viking for our next cruise.

I'm sure I might change my mind over the next 10 days. Will update.

We are also on board and can't really agree with this. The only thing missing from the suite was the tote bag which the butler just delivered due to the supplies only arriving late yesterday. I guess the travel as tainted your impression.
