  1. On the plane. Next stop....Seattle. On a related note, what is the trick again for fixing photos that keep rotating? I've taken that photo about six times and it flips each time.
  2. Hello everybody. Sitting at MIA now waiting for my flight to Seattle where I will spend two days pre cruise before embarking on a 33 day adventure on the Carnival Spirit. I'm looking forward to going live and will be happy to answer questions anyone may have about the Spirit. I'll have more to post after I get settled in at my hotel in Seattle including the full itinerary and the issues surrounding this booking when Carnival changed ships from Freedom to Spirit. I hope I'm not jinxing anything starting this thread before my Covid test results are back in 😬.
  3. The issue seems to be caused by staring mtd so late so a long line is formed already at 645 and never really gets better until close to closing time. That has been my experience on every royal cruise since covid (about 20). However my two cruises in July (Mariner and harmony) I am not sure why, but the issues were resolved. I could show up just after opening and get right in. The one exception Was lobster night. Even that the line was not excessive. The starting time was still after early dining was complete so the issue could still arise, but I was pleased to see it was not chaos trying to get into the dining room and hope that trend continues.
  4. I didn't know know about the trolley service at the time, but in June I walked from terminal d to freedom at terminal a. It isn't really intended to be walked and I didn't know what to expect but it was actually very walkable. Probably about 15 minutes tops and only need to play frogger in traffic once and the oncoming traffic has a stop sign so crossing is no problem. This was in the heat of summer and I'm not in great shape. Probably not an option if you have kids with you or mobility challenged people in your party but other than that definitely doable if you don't want to wait on the trolley. I probably wouldn't try to walk much further than terminal d though.
  5. Oops forgot my % but yes that was what I meant. A cruise vacation is a little different than leaving your house which is also a decision that is made in real time. When you book a cruise, you have no idea what it will look like when you sail. Expect the worse. If that frightens you, then yes it is an all or nothing approach. After all a cruise is a luxury, a trip out of your house is an important necessity for mental health. And yes, I am sure many will not agree with me, because again too many people want to have it both ways. Tell them they can't, and well, then you are the bad guy. Let's hope this will be behind us one day soon and we won't have to have this disagreement and can all be allowed to enjoy our cruise without worry of catching anything but a sunburn and noro 🤢
  6. But it doesn't. If you are at all concerned with the positive rate, be it .3 or 2.3, you should not be planning a cruise vacation at this time. Period. Case rates will raise and fall at the same time they do on land. Likely with higher numbers because yes, viruses do thrive in a cruise ship environment. Until covid is out of our daily vocabulary for at least a year, you should not be choosing this as your mode of vacation. That may mean you need to sit it out for years to come. Or you could chose to live your life. But stop trying to have it both ways. It is as relevant as saying my cabin was smaller than what I expect at a hotel. No kidding. Why would we need post after post after post complaining about that? We know the cabins are small and we chose to go anyway. Same thing, we know covid is a risk and we went anyway then posted a complaint. Most of these posts are not presented as informational. They are omg woe is me cruise lines did not protect me and now my whole family is sick. It's a harsh reality, but cruising may not be for everyone right now, and that is okay.
  7. I doubt it too. I said that a bit tounge in cheek. I wanted to tread lightly with what I think really happened to avoid having my own post go poof. Never a fan of more government regulation but I'm not sure it would help much anyway. Most cases are asymptomatic. I'm sure there are some who are boarding knowing they are sick but doubt it is a widespread issue.
  8. I like the darkness of the inside as well and being a little higher up personally. But keep in mind, if you have the chance to upgrade later from the upgrade fairy, the cost to do so from the ov will be cheaper.
  9. As a work created by a government agency it would be in the public domain. No copyright. Also due to the intentionally difficult file format provided it could not be posted. Instead the user was taking the time to manually type the information into a common format and answering specific sailings while working on the file. Agree that it is a huge waste of time to seek out the information, just answering the original question of is there any way.... yes there is but be prepared to go down the government rabbit hole to get the information. I also feel the numbers, however bad they are, mean nothing since you can't get a similar list for any other recreation and all those who got sick were consenting adults or children of consenting adults who chose to go knowing the risks. Concealing those numbers sort of gives an out to those who come back upset they got sick. It is a real possibility and if that worries you this is not the time to go. I look forward to the day people stop coming to these boards posting they got sick like they didn't check a box acknowledging that risk when they signed their cruise contract. /rant Sorry for going off the rails a bit lol.
  10. Something to keep in mind that has happened to me more than once. A unique itinerary comes along for free. I question my sanity about booking such a long trip so I wait. Then that cruise is no longer available. Once they sell however many rooms are set aside for the promotion, it dissappears from the offer. A 14 day comped trip is going to go faster than most of the freebies. If you would be happy in Oceanview, book it and check back for a balcony every day(usually you can use the code twice if not carnival will have to check for you). Sorry, was I suppose to talk you down? 😆
  11. If anyone is interested in going through the hassle, you can submit a freedom of information enquiry to the CDC and you will be provided with this information. Be prepared to go through a lot of red tape, but you will eventually be given the information in a non user friendly format (one giant .gif or pdf if I recall) This was posted in the NCL forms but was either a violation of CC rules or the feds asked CC to pull it down. Either way the post went poof. IMHO, even though nobody asked, If you are at all worried about covid on a cruise you should not go. I'm not judging your concern, but a cruise is no place for someone with that concern. Everyone else, go have fun. The water's fine!
  12. I've read that it has been installed on Freedom, but is it in use yet? I was on Freedom last week and while the internet was faster than the frustrating speeds I encountered on allure and oasis, they were slower than Indy and about the same as Mariner and the handful of carnival ships I've been on recently. Streaming was not possible and even YouTube buffered frequently. This was with the surf and stream package. The only thing improved I noticed was I could walk around the ship without dropping wifi and having to reconnect which has been an issue on every other royal ship.
  13. Since you've never done one, I would say go with premiere. It's fun to do once and it can also qualify you for the next step up, which is ultra and comes with a guaranteed large prize that typically involves tax paperwork 😁. After that, I would say no it is not worth the extra obc you lose but definitely do it once.
  14. Sorry if this was already said I will admit I did not read all the responses because they seemed to all take the same hardline approach. I suspect you were looking for perhaps a more diplomatic approach than my way or the highway. Another option is to apply for the vaccine exemption. Cruise lines now may sail with 10% unvaccinated and that only includes those eligible so very young children are not in that calculation. Also that is not well advertised so I bet it would be easier to get than one would think. It does come with extra costs like additional testing and trip insurance. Perhaps bring that part up to the parents and if they are unwilling to come up with that extra money, well you tried to make it work. Put the ball back in their court.
