Thanks so much for asking the question of your travel agent!  It also makes sense to me that people should be able to join me for designated segments, just as if they were signing up for a specific segment of the world cruise.

Curious if you asked your TA in reference to a specific cruise line, or just the question in general?

I'm sure she was answering for Princess since that's who I sail with most of the time.  I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same on every line.

I'd suggest you check with a TA rather than go with whatever you're told on a call to any cruise line's number.  You can call 10 times and get 10 different answers!

I'd like to hear what you learn because I'd like to do the same in 2022!

I have asked this question over on the World Cruise board, but thought I might ask it here as well (different audience!)

I am planning to do a world cruise solo.  However, I would like to have the opportunity to have different friends join me (sharing my cabin) for portions of the adventure.  Has anyone heard of this happening?  This could be either on a World Cruise or perhaps on a longer cruise where the other person is not available for the full length of the voyage.

I called Oceania today, and the call taker talked with her supervisor who said this is not possible on their line.

Has anyone heard/experienced any line where this is possible?  I can understand that there may not be complete flexibility for someone to join/leave at ports of their complete choosing, but given that they also sell Round The World Cruises in segments, you would think there would be some way this could be accomplished.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.

I asked my wonderful TA this question and she said there shouldn't be a problem as long as the person joining you (or you, if you're generous!) pays their taxes, fees, tips, etc. You would have already paid a double fare even though you're solo. That really makes sense to me.

Diabetes is a disease not a disability.  Except not being able to go thru body scans no one would know.  Also type 1 is an auto immune disease,

I was just trying to help get you more answers.  Diabetes has been discussed in the Disabled Forum.  And I am familiar with it. "Piggy-backing" on a thread that's not diabetes specific won't get you as much help as posting a separate post.

Has  anyone traveled with an insulin pump?  When traveling in US I usually count the days figure out what  I need and then multiply it bu 2 or 3.  I was planning on a 36 day cruise and that means a lot of supplies.   I was hoping someone might have some hints,  Thank you

May I suggest that you post your question as a new thread in the Disabled Cruiser's section https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/114-disabled-cruise-travel/ ? You'll probably get more and better answers :) !

It took me days to finally hit the foods that he would eat.  He likes eggs [usually hard boiled], cottage cheese, Hebrew National sausages/hot dogs, cheese, bacon, mac & cheese, chicken, turkey, baked potatoe's, peanut butter and rice cakes.  I give him various combinations of the aforementioned to equal about a cup to cup and a half three times a day.  He takes a thryroid pill in the am and his Cushing's dosage in the pm.

Except for the rice cakes it sounds like Horton likes the same things I do 😊 !

    Happy, Healthy Weekend Everyone.

Horton is doing better.  He's taking his med's, he's eating [albeit a weird diet] but he's eating three meals a day and is doing the "Horty Dance" when I finish preparing it and am putting his dish down-It seems that all four paws leave the ground and he practically pushes me out of the way.........What a joy to see him excited about his meals.

My thanks go out to Dr. Chris Cauble-the Mobile Vet, who worked very hard to diagnose and treat my wonderful boy.  Remember, it all happened during a "lock-down" where everyone had to wear a mask, social distance and we were all secluded in our homes.

Thank you to all of you who have supported me through these scary and grueling days of treating Horton Jeffrey.  You helped to give me the strength and and energy that I so needed to face my fears.

He's different in his energy level but he loves his meals, [I'm a good cook], is willing to walk a bit, sleeps better and has playful moments.

I have lots of Ukanuba Senior Kibble that Horton will no longer eat.  I'm going to donate it to the shelter in my area.  If any of you would like to come by and pick it up from me please let me know through this thread.

Again, I appreciate you all so much for your support and love❣️

I'm so happy to hear that Horton's doing so well!

You have no way of knowing if you are infected or not unless you have been tested.  You could have the virus and spreading it without symptoms. Personally I will wait another month or so

Very true, I should have said I'm not sick, not that I'm not infected.  Since I only go out once a week to do a grocery pickup I don't think I'll be spreading anything to anyone, but you never know!

Interesting.  Was the stylist also six feet away from you while cutting your hair?  No, that would be silly, And six feet away from his  last customer?  Yes And the one prior to that? Yes Had the stylist been tested to be free of the virus prior to  cutting your hair?Yes

Still not infected?  When did you get tested to confirm that? It's been almost 3 weeks and I'm not sick.

You seem very certain about many events that have not been proven by your comments. I'm really not sure what you're trying to say or prove?  I just wanted to say that I got a haircut and didn't get Covid19.  Really not worth arguing with you about...

Others are correct TKR hurts like hell the first few weeks especially if you don't like to take painkillers. Extra strength Tylenol does help. Spent the first month sleeping in recliner as I could not manage to lay on my side, laying on back in bed also hurt. Would I have the second one done at 76 years old it will be a cold day. I will continue to get injections in my other knee these seem to last any where from four months to a year.

The bad thing about those injections is that they stop working after about 2 years.  I had 2 years worth before my TKR and by the end they weren't working at all 😞 .  I'm going very slowly with the injections on my other knee as I don't want to do TKR again!

  10. About three minutes after the Governor said salons could open on May 6, my stylist called and gave me a 10:15 appointment for a haircut.  I'm going to go since we have to start somewhere and my head looks like a dandelion exploded on it😲.  It's a very small shop so I'm really not too worried.

I hope everyone is doing well.

  11. Here in Arkansas we've had 100 confirmed cases as of this morning.  I've been at home since the 13th, except for a 5 minute trip to the liquor store yesterday where they brought my order to the car.  Restaurants are doing take out and delivery.  There's still no TP available.  I have plenty, thankfully 😊 !

I've been using this time to do some clearing out and catching up on my reading.

I hope everyone is well and keeping their sanity,

    Fern
