  1. Hello Notamermaid....well countdown to our trip leaving Sept 15 for our 13 day River cruise on Uniworld River Queen.. Rhine and Moselle. I have been checking weather so I can pack correctly.. The weather looks nice cool mornings! Packing a waterproof rain jacket and will it be too cool for capris for day time touring? White slacks must be a no no in Europe! Especially September. I live in Florida part time and white is the color...:) thx. Again for answering all my questions.

  2. We are leaving in two weeks on Uniworld. This will be our fifth river cruise third on Uniworld...We usually always book our own flights but this trip we booked with Uniworld. We booked last summer and Uniworld was giving us a deal if we paid and booked that day. ($1000 each round trip)I researched the flights I wanted and Uniworld booked the flights. Well our cruise date was changed from Aug to Sept due to a mechanical problem with ship. Booking with Uniworld was a bit of advantage no need to go to Airline and pay a change fee.( I have Travel insurance probably would cover it) just a hassle.. Uniworld rebooked us flights but we lost our Delta Comfort seats all gone🤧... We did receive a refund with Delta... So this trip with Uniworld booking our flights worked well for us.. I would definitely research price and book flights that I want...

  3. I spent two hours on the phone with Delta yesterday trying to upgrade my assigned seats to Delta Comfort( which are now unavailable. We purchased our air through Uniworld and they are considered special fare tickets. After we were booked you can call and upgrade to Delta Comfort which we did..well our river cruise was cancelled and Uniworld rebooked our air for next month. We now have economy flight is full and no Comfort seats. Delta will refund the fare we paid for upgrade. I asked about business Answer no because this is a special fare booked by Uniworld😬

  4. Thx so much for your info on the River Queen... Disappointing we were scheduled to leave next week.. we given other options different ships but wanted to cruise the Rhine and Moselle. Sept 16 was first available and a few changes on our flights but it's ok...We are sailing Amsterdam to Basel .. Did you enjoy the itinerary and the River Queen..?

  5. Notamermaid... Me again... So much for being organized and having clothes in a pile ready to,pack. Uniworld cancelled our cruise for Aug 23(mechanical problem on the River Queen) ... Can you imagine trying to rebook four sailings! We had a few choices but they were for the Danube itinerary which we have sailed.. The first availability is Sept 16 same cabin but we are still working on details for our flights.. So reshuffle wardrobe for a few warmer clothes🤗🤗...I guess no worrying about very warm weather..

  6. Just received email from Uniworld confirming Sept 16 departure.. The itinerary is Amsterdam to Basel original itinerary.. whew!!!! I thought I had read Basel to Amsterdam probably had incorrect date🙄....Hopefully Uniworld will be rebooking my airfare...Boston to Amsterdam is a non stop easier I think on your departure...Hopefully all the people that were impacted by this inconvenience will have A happy ending...Appreciate all the support and answers to my questions..

  7. I could put on my running shoes leaving hubby in the dust! Thx Kathy for the suggestion of Zurich. We booked with Uniworld for our flights and I just spoke with my TA and we wait for Uniworld to give us our options and negotiate.. I am sure they will try and give us the less expensive option. I don't want 3 and 4 hr..layovers! When I booked last July the price was great with good connections. I chose the flights...Hopefully we will have this resolved soon...we have the original cabin booking ..Sept 16-28.

  8. Thx.. you are right .. we would take Amsterdam... we were originally booked with Delta comfort and Air France has no availability for premium economy... Flights originally booked through Uniworld. We need the extra room due to issues with my husband. I am sure Uniworld won't book us to a higher class...:D

  9. Still waiting for Uniworld to get back to my TA.. We are waiting for flight information.. i was adamant that we needed the flights that I had booked with Delta Comfort..probably none available....I checked myself and Air France Boston to Basel had a one hour connection ...at CDG Paris...Or 3hr layover in Amsterdam:D:D one hr?.too close

  10. Our first cruise was the Danube we flew to Parage ended in Budapest... It was on AMA wonderful itinerary I would cruise this itinerary no problem.. My husband wants to do the Rhine and we are hoping it works out for us....I really am disappointed that we have to wait until mid September .. Good Luck.. can't imagine trying to rebook all these people with flights etc...we booked this cruise last July...

  11. JP thx. Didn't think to us OBC for wine:D.. we could never do Europe on our own . It would have been an option in our younger days! I love river cruising because everything is planned unpack once and just keep kck back and enjoy.. We always did pre and post but it got to be too much for husband.. Anxious to hear from TA today she and Uniworld are on West Coast... I will post when I hear something...

  12. Babcia7.. also waiting to talk to my TA she didn't get back to me last night. We had to make a quick decision yesterday I am sure they were scrambling to get cabins for clients. We were offered a few dates on Uniworld ships with itinerary Amsterdam to Budapest one trip leaving in a few days..we have cruised this itinerary and not interested.. We are tentatively booked for same ship and the itinerary is in reverse. Sept 16...We had booked our air through Uniworld and I upgraded to Delta comfort .. I picked my flights with great connections. Uniworld is compensating us but I wasn't interested in a $400.00 on board credit(how could we spend this?..) We negotiated a cash credit on my cc card also the compensation will be on my CC.. Put away all my summer clothes and prepare for a warmer wardrobe. I am so disappointed but I know things happen hopefully they will have flights for us! This is the first time we have booked flights with Uniworld so hopefully this was a good thing!:)

  13. So did Uniworld give you any alternatives. There are at least 100 people plus how do they arrange new bookings on ships that are probably filled? We are waiting to hear from TA but tentatively booked for Sept 16 but after I said ok,I noticed the itinerary was in reverse. Not thrilled about flying into Basel because there is no direct flight from Boston. Flying into Amsterdam direct is so much easier to start the cruise..Not sure how Uniworld will handle flight arrangements! I had picked my flights with great connection on the return. Delta comfort .. This will be a problem...keep me posted. I have all summer clothes ready to pack I guess I reshuffle my pile😀

  14. We just received a call from TA that our cruise Aug 22-Sept 4 Amsterdam to Basel was cancelled due to mechanical problem... Uniworld River Queen.. we are trying to decide what to do! Negotiating details flights, travel insurance, compensation. We were offered an alternative itinerary different ship with two dates in August. (No) The date for same ship and itinerary will be departing Sept16... A bit disappointing we are bummed,! We booked our flights through Uniworld and I upgraded to Delta comfort months ago only a number of these seats.. lots to think about.. Travel insurance would that be difficult to change? Any recommendations how to deal with this?

  15. We usually cruise with Uniworld but two years ago there was a last minute deal( three weeks before departure) we grabbed it. Itinerary Paris to Normandy on the Creativity. Absolutely wonderful.. Except for Captain's night and Farewell dinner its pretty casual for dinner. A few suit jackets but majority of gentlemen wore nice golf shirts or long sleeve dress shirts. We are leaving in two weeks Uniworld two weeks Rhine and Moselle. Black capris and black long slacks and i have a black dress that I can add different jewelry and a few scarfs. White slacks and a few tops also in my pile. Pack a pashmina shawl to wear in the dining room it gets cool... Have a wonderful time! :)

  16. We sailed on the Danube AMA a few years ago and not sure if it was an included or we paid extra. My husband wasn't interested thinking it was entirely opera. I wanted to see the Opera house and it was truly beautiful especially lit up in the evening. I went with my shipmates and it was wonderful.. It was a combination of different types of music. more of a variety show.. What really shocked me was the manner of dress on most people. It's the Vienna Opera House dress appropriately! People were dressed so casual shorts, tee shirts! 😥😥It's not a black tie event but I guess I am old school..

  17. Thx Ritabob for your comment about River Queen.. There have been comments on this forum of people only cruising Uniworld SS ships. They prefer the new ships. I don't care I just love all the amenities....:):(

  18. You will love. the SS Antoinette... She is a beautiful ship and your rooms are a cat 4 which I think are French balconies... We had a large picture window which was fine. Don't listen to people's comments the itinerary is awesome, staff, cuisine accommodations are superb. You will love it.. Have a great trip. We will be on an older ship the River Queen leaving Aug 23 and being an older ship is not bothersome to us we just love Uniworld...:)

  19. Notamermaid thx for your response. I am a terrible packer I am not packed as yet just pile some things and hopefully take half.😝 I will wear my jeans on the plane and these will be my pants if it gets chilly in the morning.. For me the anticipation is so enjoyable love the planning. Your information has been very helpful.. thx again!!!

  20. Notamermaid glad you had a nice vacation. I have been gathering clothes to pack and monitoring the weather on the Rhine and Moselle.. I keep taking out and adding to my pile. I know it's almost two weeks before we leave but I noticed the weather in certain cities(Cologne, Amsterdam) have been rainy and cooler then normal... Is this unusual for August? I was dreading heat and humidity. We live in Boston and the summer has been rainy and very warm..Has the levels on the Rhine been ok? I have capris in my pile maybe just layer up! Thx for your input..
