  1. I would not realistically expect a dividend before 2027, possibly even later. Historically Carnival carried around $15-$18 of debt on its balance sheet. Carnival needs to ratchet that down from around $35 Billion. Basically the stock offering proceeds are going straight to debt. Even if Carnival makes $3 Billion/year going forward, it's going to take 4-5 years, and possibly more stock offerings, to get the company's position to anything resembling what it was pre-pandemic
  2. I expect a secondary offering to be a more or less annual event until either interest rates come down, or Carnival can reduce its debt load to historical levels. Even if the company makes $3B/year for the next few years, it may very well be 2027 before Carnival is in a position not to have to dilute the stock - Carnival needs to shed $15B in debt, if not closer to $20B just to get back to pre-pandemic levels.
  3. Does this mean the CDC order requiring masks on public transportation now applies? My understanding was that ships that did not opt into the CDC's "voluntary" program would have fallen under that order.
  4. Speaking of flag states, will Carnival reflag the Luminosa from Italy? I saw Spirit was reflagged from Malta to The Bahamas in 2021.
  5. Luminosa basically gives us three generations of Carnival livery: the pre-1982 stovepipe funnel, the original livery from the Spirit class (the red riband and block lettering at the bow), and the whale tale logo on the hull from the current (2020-present) livery. The lifeboats are still yellow, but out of Carnival Corp's mainstream lines (P&O, P&O AU, Costa, AIDA, and Carnival), yellow is surprisingly competitive.
  6. When I was on the Mexican Riviera itinerary, ship's time was actually 1 hour earlier than all 3 ports. So even if the ship's time changes, it may not match the ports. The ship had to move 1 hour forward between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta to keep from falling 2 hours behind the time ashore. Puerto Vallarta is two hours ahead of Long Beach, although it is not really any further east than El Paso, which is only one hour ahead.
  7. So far nothing is changing. There is a bill that passed the Senate in April would actually not take effect until November 2023, when we normally would go OFF of Daylight Savings Time. So far it has not been taken up by the House of Representatives. Ironically, Mexico is floating going in the opposite direction by eliminating DST. Most notable to Carnival cruisers, the state of Quintana Roo (Cozumel) does not observe DST anyway. The bill would make an exception for states that border the US, which would allow Baja California (Ensenada) to keep the same time as California.
  8. Given that most of the Fantasy class will have been disposed of by the end of the year, the next one to watch may be Carnival Sunshine. She turns 30 in 2026, so Carnival has a few years. Part of it will depend on how fast Carnival can get its debt back to historical levels, which will be around 15-20 Billion. The 2030s should in theory match the building boom of 2000-09. That decade saw Carnival add 12 ships spanning 5 different classes.
  9. Princess has 2 ships at 175,000 gross tons each on order with Fincantieri. The first is due in 2023 and is currently under construction. I believe it will be the largest ship by gross tonnage ever to be constructed in Italy. Princess sent two ships to P&O Australia prior to taking delivery of the final two Royal-class ships (Enchanted Princess and Discovery Princess) so it is not unreasonable to think they will transfer out or sell two older ships. Even if no new ships were coming, Princess would likely send an older ship to one of the mainstream brands such as P&O Australia, Costa, or Carnival rather than the other way around. You can always upgrade things like bedding, decor, and furniture on an older ship, but it becomes very expensive to make staterooms larger, even if you're willing to have fewer of them.
  10. I think you're confusing a whale tail and a duck tail. Only ships built for Carnival cruise lines have a whale tale - it is a branded version of the exhaust stack. Many ships with a whale tale also have a duck tail. Sadly, Disney has yet to put anything DuckTales-related in any of their ships' duck tails.
  11. I've actually seen some sources that say Luminosa had a drydock in 2021, which makes me wonder if the upcoming work will actually be done in a wet dock. It would then make sense to do the heavier work at the mandatory dry dock in 2024.
  12. At least since Carnival isn't doing major surgery on the funnel, maybe the Funship 2.0 food concepts will be the primary focus. The following shouldn't be much more than changing the signs and reprinting the menus: Pizzeria > Pizzeria del Capitano Club Luminosa > Fahrenheit 555 Buffet Andromeda > Lido Marketplace Virgo Bar > Alchemy Bar Cafeteria Sirius > JavaBlue Cafe Samsara Restaurant could go in multiple directions-it was designed for those staying in spa cabins-but I would think it would likely become Cucina del Capitano. The main pool area will need a little more attention as it has the pre-Funship 2.0 grill in the middle. At the very least it should be Guy's Burger Joint, even if they can't split it into two venues. No telling if the second would be Masala Tiger, Blue Iguana Cantina, or even Big Chicken. It also looks like both bars (Red Frog Rum and Blue Iguana Tequila) would need to be built on the Lido deck. The spa and piano bar should just be re-badge jobs. I could see Carnival using the Discoteca Altair as the stand-in for the Limelight Lounge since it could be used for all but the late-night comedy shows before transitioning into a nightclub. It is a two-deck venue, so it may not be feasible to split it vertically right now. The theater would ikely not be rebranded as the Liquid Lounge. The chapel will likely become a Skybox sports bar. Heroes Tribute Lounge wouldn't make sense given the ship will split time with the Australian market.
  13. Since she began service in 2009, this would be the last drydock before she turns 15. It could be as long as 2027 before she goes back to drydock. I'm surprised that even the blue bow isn't being applied however, repainting the hull shouldn't take that long.
  14. Australian bookings are available on carnival.com. North American sailings can be booked from carnival.com.au. Right now the Australian site shows an advisory that Luminosa "bookings to open shortly." Your login will work across both sites.
  15. Carnival also still needs to get the Luminosa open for booking. That's supposed to start sailing THIS year.
  16. It typically is cheaper to book the spa room than a room in a similar category (balcony, interior, etc.) and purchase the separate passes, but you should always check prices when booking. Note that spa benefits are limited to two adult guests in the same stateroom. Not all ships' thermal suites are the same, so make sure the one on Radiance has the features you want.
  17. Celebration's theater is named the Grand Spectrum, which was the name of the atrium on the Fantasy. Not sure if any artifacts from the Fantasy will make it on - there will be items from the original Mardi Gras, Carnivale, Ecstasy, and Victory, possibly others.
  18. The 1934 Rolls Royce form the Carnival Ecstasy was offloaded in Mobile recently, and will be installed on the Celebration.
  19. Costa got screwed by China remaining closed. Hence Luminosa to Carnival on a permanent basis, and then Venezia and Firenze-ehichbwere originally meant for China-for Costa by Carnival
  20. Different exchanges have different rules. Typically most major stocks (NYSE, NASDAQ) are delisted when they trade below $1 for a period of time. Theoretically the stock price has nothing to do with the company's solvency - it is just money changing hands between third parties, unless if it's an Initial Public Offering (IPO) or a secondary offering in which the company sells new shares, diluting existing shreholders. But if the stock is trading near zero, there usually is a reason, and that reason isn't good. Most likely Carnival would sell off large numbers of underperforming assets - ships, private destinations, real estate for company offices, etc. rather than go bankrupt with 80+ ships, multiple private islands, etc.
  21. It looks like something will be announced Monday. From the teaser it looks like it could be a new menu item or items at Guy's Burger Joint, although it wouldn't surprise me to see a new concept altogether.
