Royal knows.  That blurb on the CDC website has been there for months...

But CDC updated part of it on the 13th, last Friday, including Mixed Vax"s with criteria to get them, and states you are Fully Vaccinated under the strategies they list - which in Canada's case many fall under these categories! !

  2. I found this and in my attempt to confirm CDC and what they consider full vaccinated, I believe mRNA mixed candidates, where our 2nd dose of same wasnt available and were administered a different mRNA vax, IE M and then P, are considered Fully Vaccinated!

Am I reading this right and then in such cases, Mixed mRNAs administered in proper time intervals are good to cruise?

Using the above strategies, every effort should be made to determine which vaccine product was received as the first dose to ensure completion of the vaccine series with the same product. In exceptional situations in which the mRNA vaccine product given for the first dose cannot be determined or is no longer available, any available mRNA COVID-19 vaccine may be administered at a minimum interval of 28 days between doses to complete the mRNA COVID-19 vaccination series. In situations where the same mRNA vaccine product is temporarily unavailable, it is preferable to delay the second dose (up to 6 weeks) to receive the same product than to receive a mixed series using a different product. If two doses of different mRNA COVID-19 vaccine products are administered in these situations (or inadvertently), no additional doses of either product are recommended at this time. Such persons are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 ≥2 weeks after receipt of the second dose of an mRNA vaccine.

I wouldn’t say ‘corrupt’ or even use clueless….I believe my government on this topic because who are we suppose to believe?  We believe the scientists and we were told that mixing vaccines gave us an even stronger immune response. I heard that over and over again, and I know that just because something is said repeatedly doesn’t make it true.  The people saying it are trustworthy so we believe it.
What is the CDC basing their decision on?  I hope this hasn’t become a political issue!

There are other options for travel and vacation for sure.  I would like to hear the basis of fact from the CDC.

OMG they are corrupt! JT the PM of Canada is so crooked he needs a bendable ruler to be measured!

I love my Country, but this guy is a joke of a PM.

We are also just waiting, due to sail on Odyssey on 21st May, flying to Rome from UK. International travel from UK is banned until 17th May at earliest, our flight is booked for 19th. Add to that Italy have banned UK travellers indefinitely. I am in no doubt we will not be going. We already shifted this cruise from last year on explorer .

WE re booked the Explorer from Last yr as well, May 2020 to the Odyssey for same cruise May 21st 2021...this certainly gets tiring. We still havent booked our flight but looking into it, jic.

Fingers crossed Gates and his entourage get tired of what they are doing to the world and things get back to a somewhat normal! 🤣

For those that have L&S or cancelled their 2020 cruises, why do you care about the rest of us who still have cruises booked for this year? Yes, it's a glimmer of hope, but I won't be disappointed if Nov gets cancelled as I've had May, July, August & October cruises cancelled already. There are a few of us that still would cruise under the current changes being presented by RCCL and the health panel, I being one. Do I actually think we'll cruise? Nah, I'm realistic. Will it stop me from being excited about a 11/29/20 Harmony of the Seas cruise? Nope, still pumped to cruise! For the rest of us ready to go as soon as the ship docks, my treat at the casino bar!!

I AGREE, never have I read so much -ve posts with so many contributors that know so much but know nothing.

If they sail they sail, if some dont want to jump on then dont bother, your choice, as much as it is for others to get on board and enjoy something they like. If they restrict numbers and ports, then that's what it is. If they extend the no sail, we wait further. But so much noise...

I have a 11/29/20 Harmony cruise, and if she sails, I'll be on it. I'm really excited about the smaller capacity and an opportunity to tip, tip, tip!! Bet they'll be selling specialty restaurants cheap cheap.....and yes, I'll post pics on CC.

With you, but on the Symphony ..

What no one discuss is the real lessons that have been learned hence the science!

We are getting smarter, humans adapt! We know the elderly have to be more careful, the sick and compromised need to be quarantined and isolated. Its called detect - react - correct accordingly. If you dont feel you should or can cruise, dont! Very simple! What you dont hear is protect and enhance your immune system! Why not?? Its just a serious question!?

But you dont bring down the whole country/world economy!

'They' - whomever makes these hot shots or rules, are still learning and morphing the agenda.

I say, for such a critical and terrible virus - most have to be tested to even know if they have it?

    - you have to stick a swab half way to your brain thru your nasal passage or all the way back to your tonsils, to test! But stay 2 meters apart, cause you will catch it!

When you get the cold, the flu - come on, you know it! Then there are the fake positives, the %'s are crazy alarming!

Stories are endless - of fake swabs coming back +ve, in fact 2 friend were in a line up to get tested, got to the point, where they gave their vitals, at this point was 2 or 3 hours, they just simply left > but funny thing is never made it top the swab station and they get a call that evening and were told they both tested +ve and now must remain isolated for 2 weeks...hmmmmm...

Does anyone else think this is very 'grey'?

Just do whatever you do and do it safely. Dont believe all that the News reports. But stay upbeat and positive! Media is about negativity and hammering the bad news and fear.

    Rant of the day...

You threw in the comment about Miami, not me.

Miami is now open, cases and deaths are down. Hospitalizations and ICU beds are down. Positive test rates are nearing 4%.  No big surge after latest holiday beach time.  I would say we managed pretty well while opening. Let’s see how NYC does when they remove the boards from their stores (the ones that will open) and open the city again.

And I will say again. Miami has not defunded the Police. Much safer that NYC. Don’t you think once the Port is open in NJ the “peaceful” protesters will find their way there?

You don't have to be a statistician to know that.  Numbers can be manipulated to say anything you want.   Our county just reports out numbers and breaks them up by positive cases (numbers and %), numbers tested, how many by zip code. population by zip code, deaths by age groups, etc.  So, there are ways to get actual numbers.  The problem comes in when someone  takes those numbers and turns them into something and/or someone takes numbers and puts them in a report without context.  Most news stories are done that way, they have an agenda.   Polls are only as good as the questions asked and how they are asked.  I hate yes/no polls because the questions are usually written in such a way to get the answer they want.

My DH works with a guy (degreed engineer so lots of math) who has been analyzing the data to death.  It drives him crazy to read the numbers reported out because they leave out important info and are reported incorrectly a lot of the time.  My oldest son took college level probability and stats in HS (went to the Governor's Science and Tech HS) and then he double majored in math and astronomy in college and uses his degrees in his job, and his instructor in HS had a MS in stats.  She showed them all kinds of ways that stats are manipulated daily.

I've looked at the death rates from COVID-19 based on numbers reported out and while people are making a lot of noise about the US, our death rate is lower than a lot of other countries.   But, you don't see that.  What you see is 190K people without any context (age, health status prior, etc).

OHHH you mean 'Garbage in Garbage out'!

Just wondering what most people are doing if they cant actually fly to Florida yet. Im in Canada and Im not going to make my final payment due in September because I cant fly to Florida and I assume the Dec 12 cruise will be cancelled anyway.

How's RCL being about the non refundable deposits? I just want a full refund and not a FCC. I feel we should be able to get the non refundable credits back as this was unforeseen? What are most people doing ?

    Thanks

Despite what you hear, you can still fly into the States, wont let you drive in.

I am relatively new to CC and have only been cruising for a couple of years.  What I find disturbing on this site is that many times when someone asks a question or posts a comment regarding their higher level loyalty status or stateroom/suite others feel it necessary to post disparaging remarks.  If a cruiser has spent, or is spending, their hard earned money to enjoy their time at sea in whatever capacity they choose, and are not hurting anyone else, then why be snarky to that person?  It seems to me that many times the biggest "snobs and elitists" are not those in D/D+/Pinnacle categories and/or Star Class Suites, but those who are not.  As we have learned from an early age, if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.

Haters will hate! Seems to be a common theme these days in the 'world'.

Hell to the NO, I will gladly take a full refund for our next cruise though as this stipulation wasn't in place at time of our booking.

I am nowhere near an anti vaxxer and in fact both our kids as well as my wife and I are fully vaccinated. We never get flu shots though as we prefer to keep ourselves healthy and let our immune systems do what they're supposed to do.

Vaccines generally take quite some time to develop and our family refuses to be guinea pigs for a rushed vaccine. For those wanting to be first in line for said rushed vaccine you might want to look up what happened in 1976 with the swine flu vaccine.

Oh, and in case you get the rushed vaccine and god forbid something bad does happen you have no right for any legal recourse against the vaccine maker.

Your best defense is to do your best to maintain a healthy weight, eat right, and exercise.

    Finally someone gets it!

I did majesty out of florida about 20 years ago. I'm usually fine with insides, but even I upgraded to a window. Those cabins are so tiny.

I'm not sure what ship is doing that route this fall. I have jewel booked for the perfect day in Bahamas feb 7th. Someone else said they have it jan 25th. It's out of Galveston. It's considered a smaller ship. But the prices for next feb are terrific. At least jewel is beautiful. I'd pick it any day over majesty.

Liberty is more fun for the kids, but going to cost more.

    Good luck.

Jewel one of our faves! Best for service! But see who returns after start up post CO-19
