  1. I’ve heard them called advantage fares. Just ask for the refundable without perks. They are generally not much lower than the have it all fares in my experience.
  2. I don’t notice it either. The hot food temperature wise makes up for it. I don’t like the mdr nearly as much.
  3. I would also feel uncomfortable doing that as a female.
  4. I’m bad at names so I appreciate these cards. It helps me remember their names. I know I would not appreciate being called some random name.
  5. This is typical of hal. I guess they don’t understand after all this time it could be detrimental to their business. It’s quite amazing really.
  6. I hear you 😛. I drink a lot of water. I’m pretty sure there was a bathroom in the villa on hmc. I hear you on the cost too. They used to rent them out cheaper to carnival ships if I remember correctly. Don’t know if that is still the case.
  7. I’d rather look at a beach than sit on one. Getting that sand off can be fun and I hate to get sand in my cabin for the stewards to clean up. Lately I haven’t gone to hmc because I had a bad experience there a couple years ago. I really like amber cove but I usually don’t do the beach there.
  8. Everyone enjoys different things. Some people spend thousands on spa appointments. I’d rather do that at home for a quarter of the price. I don’t want to spend my vacation inside either so I may pay for those items off the ship or a may not. Depends on the ship and the line.
  9. If I was going to rent anything on hmc it would be the beach villa. I had the opportunity to walk through one and they are quite nice. I wouldn’t pay $50 for the cabanas on hmc. They are not appealing to me. I would definitely consider the cabanas on amber cove especially if I’m on a Princess ship where I likely wouldn’t have a cabana on the ship.
  10. I agree. I tend to go for the fish and I find it’s cooked more to my liking at lunch. It’s been years and years since I’ve seen it open on a port day. Maybe that happens on longer cruises.
  11. It's been like this since the start up. If people will pay for it why would they ever get rid of the charge? If I'm going to pay extra for something it will be in a specialty restaurant where I feel I'm getting my money's worth. I don't see this happening on others lines such as princess or Celebrity. I assume they are having the same struggles as HAL.
  12. Those cabanas at amber cove look really nice. If I remember correctly they are over the water.
  13. You could easily put me on ignore but how would hurl insults then? What does your comment have to do with the thread other then sneaking a comment about scallops in? Just like you said, stick to the question. I love the tamarind soups.
  14. Feel free to report the offending posts. There is a very capable moderator. There is no need to play that role.
  15. It’s really won me over. I can honestly say I was not impressed on my first 2 visits. Same for Canaletto. Hated it. Granted it’s not as “fancy” as the others but it’s really tasty. The last 2 visits to tamarind they were really pressuring me to give them good ratings on the survey, mention them by name and to fill in one of those let us know things through navigator. That’s a huge turn off for me. They are lovely and I would do it anyway but when you pester me like that it has the opposite effect. The one that was mostly asking this was a server I’d known from multiple ships so it wasn’t a person I’d never met.
  16. That’s the problem for me as well. All the good entrees that I enjoyed are gone along with the dessert I really liked. The tamarind was easily my favourite for a very long time. I used to begin and end every cruise with the tamarind. I chose to end my last cruise at sel de mer. Next one sel de mer beginning and ending. I will have a meal at the tamarind but it doesn’t feel special anymore.
  17. Exactly. With all the pent up demand I’m sure they could fill the cruise with people that are ok with wearing a mask. After all they have a bigger ship doing the world cruise now. They could have used the 2 other smaller ships in the fleet if demand is an issue.
  18. I wouldn't count on that. As I recall the menus were different on the ship then on nav. A couple days ago I saw someone suggest that a person look at menus from another cruise. Cool trick. They must have a totally different navigator than I do. Mine is up to date.
  19. Really? They got rid of the mask mandate in March. Cases on ships have gone up since. I don't think there has been one ship that's been green in the last 1.5 months. The koningsdam was green for 2 weeks while I was on it and for a while after. I wonder why doctors, dentists etc wear them. They must like it since it doesn't work. For some reason you still have to wear them in certain places in the city where I live. I guess they didn't get the memo either.
  20. I did not see such a comment on either of my Koningsdam cruises in November or March.
  21. I agree, club orange is probably the the way to go. I believe on the koningsdam all the aft views are vista suites so that’s not an option. I’ve had a cabin there and there was a lot of vibration. I’ve had aft cabins on other ships that weren’t like that.
  22. Seems to me this is a total turn around from what you posted earlier. I’ve had multiple changes and also canceled flights where I had to take an extra long flight on your beloved united. That’s a total different situation then hal forgot to pay. I’ve seen maybe one post wondering if hal forgot to pay. I don’t think this is just hal that is having changes. Long before I ever booked through flight ease I checked my flights fairly often. That’s just good common sense. Flights change. I don’t watch the news very often but when I do I always hear how Alaska airlines is canceling more and more flights. Now they seem second worse to united.
  23. And yet some make it sound like this is an on purpose, that hal is doing something shady. Sounds to me they are having glitches, as Laffinvegas pointed out. It’s not excusable just the same.
  24. I do that as well. I even do it in my home city if I go somewhere new. I have a friend that would benefit for this. When we go out it takes her at least an hour to order because she has to read every ingredient over ten times. I try to eat something small before I go out because it’s not going to be quick.
  25. I’m pretty sure crewnews said they were on the zuiderdam so I think it was added universally the the pinnacle menu.
