  1. Of course. I do that for all surfaces daily including the sink. I also do the phone, door handles and the remote and light switches. Actually I do most of it twice a day.
  2. Ok, I got a spa coupon one time too. I bet that may have had something to do with it. Wow, you can plan an appointment for a cleaning. That really is “special” 😛😉.
  3. Maybe in terms of not having the pinnacle for breakfast. I've had both and honestly prefer club orange. Maybe the view is slightly better in the pinnacle but only if you have a table close to the window
  4. Hal needs to be more productive with the staff they have. I was sitting on the back deck of the ship a few years ago. There was a broken glass under a table. The deck steward seemed perplexed on how to clean this up. You’d think it was a dead body. I bet he came back a forth 5 times looking at it before determining that a dustpan and broom is what was needed. I’ve broken many a glass at home. It doesn’t take me 5 tries to figure out how to clean it.
  5. I would love to see that happen but I don’t think it ever will. Now they are sending the koningsdam on a 35 day cruise very soon that has available cabins at every level and are subbing in a less desirable ship to me (zaandam) on the west coast. What a waste. Why not put the zaandam on the longer cruise and it would possibly be sold out.
  6. Being at 85 to 90 percent is a huge difference. My 2 cruises on the koningsdam where bursting at the seems, well above capacity. One of those weeks was thanksgiving. From the sound of things every cruise was booked like that on the koningsdam in December. While I didn’t have problems with the cleaning of my room, my stewards lost multiple things including my 500 day medallion. The front desk said I had it. I don’t recall having an issue getting water in the lido but I tend to go earlier because I can’t stand the crowds. Hal doesn’t seem to be able to handle the over capacity so don’t book to the level. It’s not good for anyone, crew nor vacationers.
  7. They are facing exactly the same issues as other companies. Throwing your hands in the air and giving up is not a viable solution to me. For the first time I ever remember (besides Covid) I will not be cruising with hal in the spring. The fall is debatable.
  8. Nope. I’m looking at several Princess cruises in April. All are around $4000 or more for the cheapest balcony. These do include “hia” type pricing. I’m not able to cherry pick cruises based on pricing as I mentioned because I have limited times I can be gone. I’m sure if you tell them to add a couple thousand on your cruise they’d be more than happy to do it. Pretty much every company on the face of the earth has gone through and extremely hard time with Covid. Companies have had to adapt and do things differently. Upping the price on everything is not a viable solution.
  9. The cruise pricing is very high for what I am looking at. I have limited windows in which I can leave as I’m still working. They should be cutting off the free cruises or increase the prices for those that want an increase. Paying $5000 for the cheapest balcony on a less than 14 day cruise is not cheap. I’m curious why you must start almost every post with the words getting back on topic?
  10. Agree with the previous poster. There is really nothing special about the dressy nights menu wise. A lot of the other nights have menus that I find more appealing.
  11. It seems to be your computer. I’m having no problems seeing the pictures on my iPad.
  12. Yes there is value. You get a decent upgrade out of it as well as a separate dining room on the pinnacle ships. Neither of those items in a 5 star perk.
  13. I’ve seen a list somewhere but I can’t recall where. The list is not impressive. One item was a free jewelry cleaning. Before Covid I believe they had a behind the scenes tour. I can get my jewelry cleaned by walking into any jewelry store where I live.
  14. I have not seen a special event since the start up nor have a heard of one. I’ve been on the koningsdam in November 2021, March 2022 and November 2022. Hal seems to not like to update their information. Same thing for cabanas. It’s not a big deal on the club orange for me. I see enough value otherwise.
  15. I hear you and I’m on the same page. The only ship that can “fit” is the Rotterdam. It’s something about the way the lifeboats hang off the sides. During the pandemic the koningsdam got special permission to transit the canal. That is something we are not likely to see again. Our only hope is the Rotterdam coming to the west coast and I don’t see that happening any time soon.
  16. 6 am for room service I believe. The mdr and co open at 7:30 on port days and 8 on sea days. I can’t stand the lido so I’m no help there.
  17. Before it was club orange it was a gastropub. I loved it and it was super reasonable in price. That concept was maybe around 6 months to a year.
  18. Hal is not a ship within a ship. I don’t know why that hard to understand.
  19. Until hal needs “parts” for them from the dreaded supply chain 😛.
  20. Now I can see your point with the lido cabanas. There is one person this board that gets super angry about the retreat cabanas. I don’t get it. It’s was wasted space on the older ships and I don’t see it being prime real estate on the newer ones. Just something to complain about.
  21. The week of thanksgiving there was always a wait in the morning. I think I waited 45 minutes one morning. I generally go about 8:15 am. I don't go that much at night but I got the last table before a wait and that was around 5:45pm. I don't remember waiting the other few times at night usually around 6PM.
  22. I've said the exact same thing to be told by a poster on this board that they have gained entrance with club orange. I'm having a very hard time believing it.
  23. I've been lucky I guess. Except for the first maybe 6 months of the pandemic grocery stores in my area have been fully stocked with the odd thing out of stock. Hal seems to still struggle with the supply chain. You would think Carnival Corp would have a lot more clout than my grocery store. They can't get limes in Florida, meanwhile I have zero problems in freezing Canada. That's seems to be a choice to me.
  24. Exactly. I hear fairly often about a ship within a ship concept. I think some are unclear on what that means. Anyone can by access to club orange, cabanas or specialty restaurants. Try to do that on MSC yacht club or celebrity lumiane (sp).
  25. No, there has been no special event on the koningsdam either the 3 times I've been on the ship.
