Current (2022) Main Dining Room Dinner Menus -- Jewel
Middleager replied to Yo Adrienne's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
We were on the Jewel 12d Panama canal cruise earlier this year. I had asked, and found out they have 21 days of MDR menus to choose/rotate with. It sounded like they can be switching/choosing what they like to provide, partly also based on the supplies they have. The Garden Cafe also have theme nights and we usually don't know what it is until the day of, or maybe sometimes the night before. The specialty dining rooms are of course quite good, but the MDR and Garden Cafe food are also very good. The challenge is always trying not to eat too much (and didn't exactly succeed) -
Cyprus Anyone?
Middleager replied to IWantToLiveOverTheSea's topic in Other Mediterranean and Black Sea Ports
If you're also on NCL Epic, come on the 2022.11.15 Haifa-Rome rollcall. I just emailed to ask info about Limassol tours, and will share my findings there. -
Any Canadians use Switch Health antigen tests for boarding?
Middleager replied to Z3r0's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Good to know. We won't need to test starting in Sept, as vaccinated cruisers getting on NCL, but this is good to know in case of needs elsewhere. -
Where on Epic to access a microwave oven?
Middleager replied to Middleager's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Yap I'm also looking at those plug in to heat ones at amazon. May just need to buy one and try. -
Where on Epic to access a microwave oven?
Middleager replied to Middleager's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
It's beads material, with cloth cover. I could put in some waterproof bag to soak in hot water as an alternative. But heating for 30 sec in a microwave is easiest. -
My eye doctor told me to use heated eye mask for 10-minute at least once a day. Where on Epic can I get access to a microwave oven to heat this mask up (just need 30 seconds)?

You have the link, so just follow the instructions on the link. We did it before, quite easy.

Each of these would put a small dent in its finances. All of them added together, with all the extra expenses (changes, delays, cancellations, refunds..) add up to bigger dent, even in pre-Covid times. The last few months had not be easy.

For antigen test, SDM charges $40, Rexall $30, Walmart $20, Costco $17. In the past we always booked at Costco.

Port fees/taxes for cancelled ports
Middleager replied to gabbygal99's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
On our 2022.12.5 Getaway TA sailing, Ponta Delgada was cancelled. In a M&G, someone asked and the captain said it'll be automatically adjusted and put into our accounts. It didn't. Nothing to our accounts. -
Travel SIM card - anyone used this one?
Middleager replied to Kate-in-Canada's topic in Canadian Cruisers
I'm also looking at their SIM cards as in late Oct. we'll be going to the Middle East, then NCL Epic cruise from Haifa to Rome. Would love to hear people's actual experience with these SIM cards. -
Porter airline out of Toronto island airport
Middleager replied to White123's topic in Canadian Cruisers
I was alarmed by your title "Porter airline out of Toronto island airport" and thought Porter decided to bail out of the Toronto island airport (for not lengthening the runway). -
That's the website ttp.cbp.dhs.gov we applied for renewal. Our status hasn't changed (Wait for conditional approval), still, and there's message "Due to a significant increase in application volume, we are extending the grace period to allow you continued full benefits while U.S. Customs and Border Protection is finalizing " Still didn't receive any email since our application, after on the web it confirmed our application and payment (and our CC charged).
-
My wife and I applied for renewal in mid-July. On the web page it confirmed our application. Credit card was charged. But we also did not get any email confirmation or any update. Not in junk folder. We were wondering. But good to know you are in the same boat.
-
Mine expires in Jan/2023 and my wife Apr/2023. We both applied and paid for renewal in mid-July. No news yet. Are they still extending 24 months, or could something else be happening. I see some US offices listed for appointments but are after my Jan/2023 expiry.

Can you leave the ship before last day of sailing?
Middleager replied to Middleager's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Good point. The ship goes from a non-EU country to a EU country (Greece, then Italy) for several ports. People would need to be properly immigrated into EU. I don't know how that's done, but NCL has done that many times, and hopefully it won't be too difficult to find out how. -
Can you leave the ship before last day of sailing?
Middleager replied to Middleager's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Thank you. So it can be done and has been done, just need to some chain of command in NCL and have some paperwork done. I can let the friend know, so her friend can try to find out what needs to be done in her case. -
Can you leave the ship before last day of sailing?
Middleager replied to Middleager's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
We all know NCL agents can be wrong, especially in uncommon questions. The lady is a Canadian citizen, and no problem to go to any of the EU countries in the EU ports, especially the last few days (Patmos, Piraeus, Greece; Naples, Livorno, Italy, ending in Rome, Italy). Leaving the ship through ship security would leave record that she is not on the ship, so there won't be an issue of manifest being wrong. It's different than she got back on the ship, and disappeared, then the manifest shows she's supposed to be on, and is not there. There are always people coming on the ship and leaving mid-way, especially performers, or park rangers in Alaska cruise that got on in one port to give seminars and leave the next port before the final destination. Of course she'll let the ship know she's leaving, not just jumping off the ship without telling security and therefore leaving manifest wrong. So what is the way to do this right? (The NCL agents don't seem to know.) -
A friend is thinking to join us for a 11day 2022.11.15-26 Haifa - Rome cruise later this year. She has a friend who might join as a roommate, but cannot get the last 2 days off work. So the friend is thinking to just cut the cruise short, and leave the ship at the port on 11.24. She called NCL and was told no you cannot leave the ship early, got to stay till the end. Called again, another agent said the same thing, need to stay till 11.26 end of that sailing. But sometimes people are late getting back to port, and effectively leave the ship early (ok they still have luggages onboard and it's a little more work to sort out). Sometimes people have family/work situations and nwant to leave early. If someone is getting off a port and takes their luggages with them, can the ship really banned them from leaving? Can someone enlighten me. Thanks.

NCL Epic closing spice H20 and the sports deck
Middleager replied to grillysgillies's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
We'll be on Epic b2b 2022.11.15. Hope things will open up by then. -
Good for you in the other cruiseline. Just to remind you the OP is talking about NCL if you read. And OP being in Canada, NCL knows the account is in Canada, and will use Canadian $ for calculation. Yes you can try to get around it but NCL puts up roadblocks to make it not easy. Anyway, someone in NCL doesn't really know the system and gave the OP a hard time. The OP got it resolved.

The currency does NOT matter. The cruise can be priced in US$, or its equivalent in Cad$. Applying 10% to that US$ amount, or to the equivalent Cad$ account, does NOT matter one iota. You're NOT going to get a bigger discount to apply that 10% to the US$ amount of that cruise.

Will the 2022 Recession affect NCL cruise fares?
Middleager replied to DrSea's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
If someone knows the answer, please also advise us which stocks to buy. Oh, and what color is your crystal ball. -
TA or NCL? If no adjustment, just cancel and rebook.
