  1. I have thought the same thing as you, but never cared enough to look up anyone else's information. In the U.S. I believe both of the matters, one being considered a criminal conviction, are public information. I wonder if a visit to the front desk to request that a last initial replace your full last name would do the trick...or remove the last name entirely. If I were a single woman traveling alone I would definitely not like my name being there showing that I am in that cabin solo.
  2. Just thinking about the Monterey/Carmel area and reading everyone's posts is making me want to go there. However, I'm boarding the Discovery on Saturday to Mexico. I need to plan a trip to the coast soon. We are spoiled here in CA with so many beautiful places to see.
  3. I don't recall there being a dock large enough for a cruise ship to dock in Monterey, but I could be wrong. I've gone deep sea fishing there and so I assume that is an option depending on the time you have in port. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is probably the best choice. The 17 mile drive is beautiful and I can smell cypress trees just thinking about it. If you are a golf fan you can see Pebble Beach golf course which is on the 17 mile drive as well. A drive to Carmel-by-the-Sea is a great idea too. It's just a little ways down the highway from Monterey. No matter what you choose to do, you can't go wrong. The entire area is so scenic!
  4. The digital vax card we get is issued by the State of California so they should accept it. That is what we uploaded and there were no issues. We are bringing our original cards too along with our passports. Always with the paper back-ups. 🙄
  5. I will never understand why they made Princess Live the uninviting space they did on some ships. They did it right on the Sky and I think the Discovery too. If they want it to be a place that they want people to gather to play trivia and the like...AND buy drinks, they are going to have to change the seating on some ships. I never even went into Princess Live on the Majestic. Made me sad too because I love trivia and many of the events that were going on in there, but had no desire to BE IN there. I always wonder sometimes who makes the decisions. I really think they should run them by me more often 😜
  6. See if someone has posted the menus for the particular itinerary you are going on. They tend to recycle those so you should be able to tell if it is being offered on your sailing.
  7. Oh, I don't remember those options being available. Maybe they have added them or maybe I just forgot. Both are possibilities. 🤣
  8. I completely agree. If they are trying to route all room service orders via the app, then they need to allow for special requests like "no tomato" or "extra mayo on the side", etc. It's almost like they did it on purpose so you can't. Dumb.
  9. If you have the coffee package then you can order tea from the medallion app on your phone and have it delivered to you in the buffet. Not sure where that is being made...meaning, I'm not sure if the water is going to be hotter than getting it yourself at the buffet.
  10. This is super comforting to read. We have an upcoming sailing that we are taking our adult kids and grandchildren on the Panorama early next year and I have been a little nervous about it. We want them to have fun, but I don't want my grandchildren to be around any badly behaved adults or fighting. I'm so used to the Princess standard.
  11. That's interesting about cruise ship pools pumping sea water in. Did not know that! That's funny about the smell of the sea air! Never gonna forget that! 😁
  12. Being a pool owner, I often wonder what people are looking for when they ask this question. A "salt water" pool is not like the ocean. Also, it would not be like they would pump ocean water into the pools. Salt water pools are not really just that. They use salt to generate their own chlorine so the salinity is significantly different than sea water.
  13. The Medallion and the Medallion app are two different things. You do not need to have your phone with you for the medallion device to work. It works by connection to the waypoints on the ship and when you are in proximity to your stateroom door so it unlocks for you. It is also how you purchase things on the ship just like you did before with your cruise card. If you did want to use your phone's MedallionClass app, you could use it to order drinks and food anywhere on the ship and the crew would find you by way of your actual medallion. If you look on the ceiling anywhere on the ship when you get there, you will see little circular devices mounted to the ceiling that have the "Ocean" circular logo thing on it. They are everywhere...even in your stateroom.
  14. Personally, I'm not a fan of Princess transfers on the big busses with a bazillion people. I have been doing private transfers or Uber/Lyft and had success.
  15. We usually go have lunch after we board and by the time we are done with lunch our room is ready. I would say by 1:00 is the typical time they are ready unless there was a delay in getting the passengers off the ship from the previous sailing. Our luggage usually arrives pretty quickly too. We try to get unpacked if we can before sail away so we can get on with our vacation.
  16. Yes, I can attest to this. Although we were able to stay in our same room (rather than being moved to the isolation deck) through our isolation, we were able to order anything from the MDR, specialty restaurants, drinks, etc. Nothing was off limits. Now, the food was not as good as it would have been if we were served at a table in one of the specialty restaurants. Room service is just not the same. It has its place.
  17. Yep, drinks are included anywhere you order them on the ship! You can even order them through the Ocean Now app and have them delivered to your stateroom as part of the package! It's nice when unpacking to have a cocktail while enduring that loathsome task! 🤣 I'm not sure if they are allowing drink service again in the theater but you can also get drinks in there too. Pretty much anywhere! And no, you do not need to tip. Gratuities are included in the cost of your package. Tipping extra is up to the individual.
  18. I like the Medallion, but I also don't like wearing it around my neck. I carry a wristlet around and I just keep it in there with my phone (camera) and my lipstick, etc. You know, the essentials 😉
  19. For most from traveling from the U.S. this is what applies (scroll to the bottom of that page):
  20. If you are referring to this, then it only applies to the voyages listed when you click on the link highlighted:
  21. We always put our cruise tags on after getting bags from the luggage carousel. We have them pre-loaded into plastic holders. We also have apple air tags hidden in our luggage so we can track the location of our luggage with our phones. 😉
  22. I always drink the water served in the dining rooms and it always tastes fine to me. For some reason I don't usually drink it coming from the bathroom faucet even though I know it is coming from the same place. I know, I know! It's just a mind thing. I usually will pick up bottled waters and bring them back when we are out and about on the ship and keep them in our room. I'm a water drinker so I must have water at all times.
  23. Anyone notice what looks like Nespresso machines in all of the staterooms? Oh and finally they put a small sofa in ALL rooms! I love the new modern look of the rooms and the rest of the ship too, especially the piazza!
  24. Bummer! But thanks for letting me know. I would rather pay the pre-boarding price if we are going to do that. Is there just one place you can order coffee drinks on the Panorama? Sorry, I know I am getting off topic, but curious to know. Oh, and can drinks be ordered through room service when you have the Cheers package? Princess lets you do that and I LOVE it.
  25. Having not yet sailed on Carnival yet I wondered if you can purchase the Cheers! package for one person when you are on board. I know pre-sailing you have to purchase for both adults in the stateroom. Doesn't sound like it, but I figured I would ask here just to be sure. Husband does not drink alcohol or coffee...soda only. Would be a total waste to have to purchase for him.
