  1. The last Top Tier party that I attended on the Allure of the Seas, last month, included Platinum and up. It was the Presidents cruise, and the party was held in the theater, and was well received.

I know nothing of Platinum or Emerald being cut off from the parties. Royal Caribbean has stopped holding the "Welcome Back" party, but that only affects Gold members.

We received an invite, but it was also in the daily Compass and a reminder was on the TV.

On another note, I was saddened last week to hear of the passing of the male member of the 3rd top cruisers. May he rest in peace.

  2. Full suites will have both a coffee maker and a kettle for hot water

And I can confirm that for all Royal Caribbean Owners Suites!:)

I should edit to say that spookwife is correct, all full suites have the features that she mentioned.

  3. A simple request, that I don't think that I will ever see. That being a ship back on the West Coast out of LA. I could live with Royal Caribbean almost exclusively if they just would put a ship in LA for a few months of the year.

I spoke with Michael Bayley last week while on board the Allure for the Presidents cruise, and he is pretty adamant that there is no profit for RCL from a ship on the West Coast.

    Bummer!!

  4. JC, we also just got off of the Allure yesterday, and I must say that we ate dinner in the Coastal Kitchen all but 4 nights out of 14.

The CK has only two menus that are rotated, but you can order escargot (not on the menu) any night that you want. Also on the 2nd formal night, we ate lobster tails (also not on the menu), and found that CK would work with us on nights that we wanted something other than what was on their menu. Every meal was superb, no exceptions.

We loved breakfast there as well. I think that you will enjoy the food that is served in the CK!:)

    Hi to your bride!

I believe that if you call them tomorrow, you should be able to work out and purchase the package that you want.

Sometimes the weekend at Royal Caribbean can be a bit of a lose cannon.

Come back and let us know how you were able to resolve your issue.

By the way, welcome to Cruise Critic.

  6. I have not cruised yet. Just need to know who/what department I can contact when resolutions department can't/wont help be of help. Is there another department to contact?

Can you relate your exact problem? ( ie......I ordered the beverage package, and now I want to cancel it, but RCCL won't let me). You are being quite vague about your issue.

  7. Regarding the purchase of beverage package.

Please explain in more detail. One of us should be able to direct you to the proper department. Have you cruised yet? Or, is this after your cruise? What happened that you needed to get a hold of the Resolution Department?

  8. Because I think they hold cabin categories, not individual cabins by stateroom number. It is group "space" not individual cabins. Whatever inventory is unsold is released back to the cruise line.

Thank you for your clarification. It is true that cabin categories are used, not individual cabins for group space, yet travel agencies are required to provide a deposit to hold cabin categories, and when inventory is unsold and released back to the cruise line, then whatever money is left over, is returned to the agency.

  9. If a person wants to book lots of cruises (regardless of cabin chosen) and pays their deposit, good for them....if some of those cruises end up cancelled and their deposits returned....so be it.

That is much much different from travel agencies being allowed to 'put on hold' many cabins without deposits from cruisers committing to use those cabins. That is unfair, but since travel agencies to bring to the cruise lines lots of business, I imagine that it is done quite a lot.....do I like this capability --- NO.

Regarding travel agencies being allowed to put cabins on hold, they must put up money towards their groups. For instance an agency can hold 100 cabins for a certain cruise for the sum of $5,000.00, or 200 cabins for $10,000. So, if an agency wants to have several groups going, it is very easy to have $50,000 or more out before deposits are made into those groups, and the agency must front this money.

Please tell me how unfair (your words) it is for travel agencies to do booking like this.

  10. I'm also with Capt BJ, as was cleared by the captain and corporate to have family members with me while at port in Seattle, when the Mariner stopped doing the Mexican Riviera because of some flu. She was home ported out of San Pedro at the time.

I can also remember when we could visit other ships, but that was back in the 1990's.

So, although the chances are slim, it never hurts to ask.

  11. We no longer book RS's on the Voyager class or the Freedom class. There is a flaw in the bedroom that we can not believe has been corrected. My DW cannot sit at her make up table, even with the blinds closed, because of the heat that is generated in the bedroom when the RS side of the ship is in the sun.

We have had parties where officers have been invited, and they cannot believe the heat issue, yet nothing has been done to help the issue.

We love OS's and GS's, but we no longer splurge on the largest cabin, because of this problem.:)

  12. I love these threads....

Please READ the small print on the C&A program. Anything and Everything may be changed at any time.

I remember when CC used to be just great facts about shipboard life, not just a guessing game by some here.

It sounds like some people like Bill and Rita (negc) who are presently aboard are giving a very positive review of what Royal Caribbean did to keep so many D and D+ happy.

    Nice report Bill!

  13. Just a heads up on in room dining from MDR, this has been discontinued on ships with Royal Suite Class, I have had it confirmed by Vicki Freed (SVP, Sales, Trade Support and Service) in the last couple of days. She says it isn't available at all but according to the updated information in the online Royal Suite Class brochure, it should still be available in Star Class cabins - I guess the Genie can sort that. Apparently, for now, it will still be available on non Royal Suite Class ships.

Thanks for this tidbit of information. We normally cruise in suites, and many nights enjoy dining in. This is a perk that costs the company nothing really, but it is hard to believe that they will be taking it away.

I'll be on the Presidents cruise in a few weeks, and look forward to having this information confirmed. Did Vicki Freed say that it would be replaced by anything?

    Rick

PS Has anyone figured out what set ducklite off after being away from Royal Caribbean for 11 years, and just now bringing up such a non relevent topic of interest in the year 2016?
