  1. Thanks for a good chuckle this morning. There is nothing small about the Majesty, compared to what the Azamara fleet consists of. We love the Sovereign class ships. And yes, the staterooms are small, including the Royal Suite, which is smaller than an OS on a Radiance class and up.

The crew makes up for anything missing on the Majesty. Even though we will be on the Allure for the first time since her pre inaugural, I, for one, am not that excited about the mega size ships.

Everyone cruises for different reasons, ours is to enjoy the ocean, and relaxation that being on the water brings.

Granted that the Majesty does not have all of the bells and whistles that other classes bring, but to us, it really does not matter, as long as we are on a cruise!:D

  2. I have known Mario for a number of years, and he is a celebrity. Why? Well, for a few years Royal Caribbean did a commercial starring Mario.

The man is down to earth, enjoys his life of cruising, and does not seek "star" status. Anyone that wishes to visit with him, is welcome to do so, shake his hand, and if he is not into something heavy on his computer, for one of his clients, he will be more than happy to talk to anyone.

Ask him about his background, how he got into cruising, or anything else.

So back to the celebrity thing. No.....he is not a celebrity that many think of celebrities........but he certainly is on Royal Caribbean, and entitled to be treated as such.

I also know Arno and Joanne, and they are just as kind and lovely and Mario. I guess that I'm fortunate to have cruised on ships with both.

  3. What is different about a presidents cruise and a regular cruise on RCCL?

Well.....the first thing is that the president of Royal Caribbean, Michael Bayley will be aboard, and I expect that it will be much like a members cruise. There will be an opportunity to visit with Mr. Bayley and be able to ask questions about the direction of the company.

There will also be a few surprises to make this cruise more enjoyable. I don't know what they are (if I did, it would not be a surprise) but I bet it will be memorable, and I, for one, and looking forward to this cruise.

It is Royal Caribbeans first time to hold a "presidents cruise".:)

  4. Not sure when we did Liberty in April it took 2 hours to tender everyone off to Belize ( different route same ship)

The tenders are larger, and hold more passengers at Grand Cayman than the Belize tenders. Also, it is a much shorter tender run from the ship to shore in Grand Cayman, so the OP should be fine just getting in line early to make the tour they are scheduled at their appointed time.

  5. An experience I've encountered ... the flights on an airline with limited code share on the day before were cancelled due to fog. Cruisers who originally had tickets for the day-of were fine but the day-before people missed the ship.

Does that happen often? No. Does it happen as much as problems day-of? No. But in the end, just as with this Delta thing, ^&*% happens. You cannot prepare for every contingency.

You make a valid point. However, I'm still of the opinion that it is still safer to get to the port city a day ahead, just in case. However, ^&*% does happen from time to time, so the best approach is to have travel insurance, just in case.

  6. I hope cruisers did not miss their ship. Many fly/drive/arrive the day before to avoid unforeseen delays.

A very smart piece of advice. I know that a certain amount of cruise passengers fly in on the day of departure, but we always add a day, so that we can relax and know that we will make the ship!:)

  7. You're welcome. One note about a Grand Suite is that there is no full size dining table inside the stateroom. You can eat on the table outside on the balcony. Some people have even brought that table inside the stateroom.

Bob, we are some of the people that enjoy "dining in", and in fact, bring the table from the balcony into the living area in a Grand Suite. We order a table cloth, salt and pepper shakers, and sometimes order course by course, so that everything does not arrive at the same time.

The menu will be inside the suite folder. And, yes, you can order anything that is on the MDR menu to be delivered to your cabin on the first evening of your cruise.

    Enjoy your suite!:)

  8. Pricing really depends on the exact date. Embassy Suites on 17th Street, and numerous other major chains in 17th Street area are always popular with cruisers.

Personally think previous poster's price estimate of $80 to $130 is definitely on the low side.

I agree. I just booked the Embassy Suites on 17th Street, and booked a 2 bed suite for $155.00 plus taxes for a September sailing.

  9. You can get steak and eggs and I know at one time mimosa was also included and while this is a great suite perk, its not worth 15 dollars ( but one of the reasons we book suites)

You are correct, the Chops Grill paid breakfast does include a mimosa, and there are some that come in to Chops and purchase the breakfast. I watched this on the Liberty, last time we were aboard. If you are in a suite, you can get a steak and eggs breakfast, but if you want a mimosa, you will still be charged for the drink.

With Princess, if you are cruising in a full suite, they will give you as many mimosas as you want in their specialty breakfast restaurant.

  10. Oh no!!

Wow, and he just came back to Radiance a week or so ago! Well, I will get to

see him on our 8/5 and 8/12 cruise before he leaves.

I am guessing many will miss him from the rave reviews I have seen.

If you have not cruised with Juan Diego in the past, you are in for a wonderful treat!

Gina nailed it perfectly in her testament of JD. He will be missed.

  11. Well, I see someone didn't find something else to do this weekend. ;)

As for the question a few pages back about who should have "priority" in the lounges? Here's my two cents:

    DL - 1st come 1st served

    CL - 1st come 1st served

    SL - 1st come 1st served

Royal doesn't distinguish, why should we?

Great answer Mrs. Wolf. Look at the space that we both had on the Liberty OTS in the SL. It was never full, but as both a Pinnacle Club member and one who normally sails in full suites, but even sailing in JS's and attending any of the lounges, I believe in first come first served.

  12. Wonder why Captain Anders I. went from the Anthem to the Majesty. Seems it is a demotion to go from one of the most modern ships in the fleet to the oldest doing only the 3 and 4 day Bahamas.

The Majesty is maneuvered differently than other, more modern ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet. Some of the old timers really enjoy the older "classic" ships, and earn the same money as captains on the largest ships in the fleet.

There is a certain stress level that running an Oasis class ship has, that smaller ships do not have.................as much.
