  1. Day -3

At Heathrow in lounge making our way to Hong Kong for a couple of hotel days before boarding the refurbished Millie and so looking forward to it.

Our first time on M class having sailed Eclipse and Silhoutte previously so won’t be able to identify changes but can’t wait to try her out.

First time in that part part of the world but long been in the dreams. The reason for going is a fascination since the age of 9 (50yrs ago!!!) with the jewellery box that Sharon was given for her birthday from uncle Gerard- he brought it back from his trip to Hong Kong (I think it was his first trip there as he was 21) - it’s a little battered but has been with her throughout all her nurses homes and still sits by our bed today - the ballerina is missing but it still plays every time it is opened so here we come today finally on our way to see it for ourselves! 2. In the UK we have a tv programme called the Cruise that focusses on Princess Cruises normally this season covering a trip from Singapore to Sydney. They cover behind scenes as well as passenger experience.

This week the show really bugged up Cruise Critic as did various officers. They also asked a CC member to review their breakfast options and acted on her suggestions

  3. We probably came across the bottom end of this chain last year. We met a couple at dinner, actually twice, who were behaving strangley (and were in fact not very nice perhaps the worst people we have met cruising. They were particularly strange with their drinks orders and it became clear despite boasting about their Concierge cabin they didn't have a drink package. We found out their daughter worked for RCL and 2 days before the cruise was offered the cabin free, when it became available because of move ups, which she unfortunately passed onto her parents. It came without any perks.

  4. We are on the Millie 16 Feb out of HK to Singapore so one week after out of dry dock. Unfortunately we've only sailed S Class until now so I might not be able to identify a lot of the changes and we are sailing balcony not suite. I will try a live blog, inspired by Jim_Iain and the like, it'll prob be very boring but if anyone has questions I'll try to find the answers!

  5. Our current Roll Call for our Millie Hong Kong to Singapore in Feb has been the most active I've been on with lots of private tours being arranged and we are just starting talking about cabin/pub crawl/slot pull/gift exchange etc. A regular list is produced of who is on and from where.

Previous 3 Celebs have done the M & M and enjoyed them and they seem to have got better with higher ranking staff being more engaged. I know after last M & M the Hotel Director reglarly stopped us for a chat throughtout the cruise

  6. Sorry Andy I clearly can’t multitask(Paul the handyman was in Lol) 😂😂

hmm whether to bring my tux which I like wearing lol.

repeat thanks for great blog I might try one

Thanks. I don't know who Paul is though! 😂

Mostly shirts and ties and some suits, along with dresses for the ladies. I saw very few tuxes or ball gowns.

    😉

  7. Think Millie is one of the first to be "Edged" going into dry dock in January first ruise after on Feb 9th Southeast Asia 7 dayer then we are on her for a 14 night Taiwan, Vietnam andThailand cruise. we booked it 4 hours before the Edge Revolution was announced by shear fluke!

  8. Not a X rather a River Cruise but hopefully allowed. 10 years ago Nile Cruise special occaison for DW and I so had a suite. Nice area but strangely the bed was raised from the floor or some sort plinth which will become relevant.

A couple of days in and DW is waking me screaming we're sinking and crocodiles! I'm stumbling awake saying what you on about go to turn the light on which she stopped me sensibly (she's good like that) so I swung off the bed to get the torch in my bedside cabinet to find 4/5 inches of water! Coming to my senses i realised the water was warm so not likely to be the Nile

We then realise there's commotion in the corridor outside and open door to find staff and passangers with the staff trying to deal with a plumbing leak and passangers being shepherded upstairs to the lounge! Looking into the room I could see books and clothes floatng around but luckily no corcodiles!

It did occur to me after that my wife is a very strong swimmer, almost international level in her youth whereas I'm rubbish don't know why she was worried the crocs would have dined on me!.

  9. Breakfast in MDR all very civilised Canadian family on table next door mum, dad and 2 monsters! Screaming shouting all meal until mum eventualling looked up from her phone to say "Josh stop sticking your fork in Calebs leg" and went back to her phone. I looked over and there were forks sticking out of Calebs leg and a decent amount of blood!

  10. I have also found that our big online TA can do better than what we can get online - mostly because they pay the gratuities when we book X.

It's also worth noting that the ONE SINGLE TIME we received rude service on 25+ cruises on seven cruise lines was from a future Celebrity cruise agent. He clearly did not want to bother with booking cheap seat cabins and was downright insulting about our preferences.

Yes, I reported him. Still, It took quite awhile to wash that bad taste from my mouth.

Interesting! This guy clearly wasn't listening to us he moved our flight day (which increased cost by £1200), didn't look at the cabin we wanted and refused to book the particular pre cruise hotel we wanted simply picking the first on his drop down list probably the Aardvark! My wife was ready to pay but I stopped her we walked out into the Martin Bar rang X and dealt with a lovely woman at X UK result being £2300 less for the flights, cabins and hotels we wanted from the guys first offer though his 3rd offer meant only a saving of £1800!! I did lose $250 OBC though!!

I have found the bitter taste remained so have reported the individual

  11. Just a cautionary note having booked our last 2 cuises on board and being very happy with packages we got I was shocked at the poor service given us on the Silhoutte at begining of July luckily I had done some research of what we wanted enough to realise that what we were being offered was at least £2000 over stated. I suspect we hit a particular advisor on a bad day but still!

  12. Celebrity UK accept a Blue Light Card which is available to armed services, emergency services and health service and gives a 10% discount but can only be used by booking direct with X on phone not on board or via a TA. The card costs £5 and as we saved £400 on our forthcoming Millenium Cruise is well worth it.

  13. The production shows on our recent Silhouette cruise were poor and worse than the previous year on Eclipse which still wasn't very good. They were almost childish shoeing in of songs sung badly. Some of the guest artists were good but we effectively stopped going to the theatre! Unfortunately at least one of the foyay singers were so bad that the waiters in the martini bar used to hide when she was on.

There must be 100s of Broadway/West End musicals that can be adapted and shared around the ships without having to invent poorly performed drivel!
