  1. Got2Cruise,

If you are referring to my posts, I did not mean to bully. I was just trying to respond to someone who seemed to press the issue of wanting to make new rules for Regent.

The answer to the original poster should have just been "do what you want...Regent allows door decorating", with no other responses needed

I apologize if I offended. I got wrapped up in the thread.

  2. JMariner,

Matt (without me knowing) packed the small tree to decorate the inside our cabin. We put it outside the door just for the hour of judging. I even added music (Carpenters Christmas which I had on my computer) placed under the tree. Matt was very creative in finding the rest of the items for the door.

Unknown to him, I had brought the Christmas stockings from home, also for inside the cabin.

The only thing that I originally had on the door of that cruise was the photos of the dogs.

  3. TravelCat,

Why do you think every door "decoration" is tacky? We put up a few pictures of our dogs (which are inside plastic magnetic holders flat against the door much like the gold Regent metal door tags). As I mentioned, our neighbors ask us about our dogs, as do several crew and staff.

Regent does not have rules about door decorations.,,and who is going to decide what is tacky and what is not. Maybe some think the Regent signs are tacky. If you want to be the "door police" for them...fine...apply for the job.

As I tell my partner when he sees something aboard that he does not thrill on...."when you own Regent, you can make the rules".

I think there are bigger fish to fry here.

If you don't like the "decorations", look the other way.

  4. The Regent sponsored "Door Decorating Contest" for us came during the 2014 Los Angeles to Auckland Cruise on the Mariner. I have photos of several doors (including ours which won a first place prize). You can view the doors on my web page at http://www.billinlodi.com It is in the "2014 Hawaii/Tahiti photos" page, December 22nd and 23rd.

If Regent was not ok with doors being "decorated", they would not have such contests, or give out magnetic plates commemorating World/Special Cruises to put on doors.

  5. In talking to and overhearing conversations from upper staff members, the original GI problems SEEMS to have stemmed from those who stayed at the JW Marriott Hotel in Lima...both those who took the "standard" 3 day pre-cruise Machu Picchu excursion and stayed at the hotel AND/OR those who stayed at the Marriott for the one-night pre-cruise hotel.

It did not seem to affect those who were on the "deluxe" 3 day pre-cruise Machu Picchu excursion that stayed at the Country Club Lima Hotel. So it seems that Machu Picchu itself is not the cause.

They are not putting the blame on the hotel or Regent guests, as the germs may have already been there, or brought there by others and spread without the hotel knowing at the time. There is no way of knowing exactly how it started, or by whom.

  6. Beth,

I had dinner with Paul tonight and he told me that although he has only seen schedules through May, he believes that you will have Ray Solare as your Cruise Director....but things can change (just as it did for him two weeks ago to bring him over to the Mariner)

    Bill

  7. Yes, we were at the Marriott. The "on and off bus" makes a stop at the front door. Just make sure you get on the bus going the route you want. There are 3 routes. We took the Red line that went out to the Little Mermaid and had the bigger route. Information on the bus is here: https://www.redbuses.com/our-tours/copenhagen-hop-hop-off-tour I have a photo of the hotel and the room we were in on my web site: www.BillinLodi.com Click on the "2016 European Cruise Photos" button to see the pictures (at the bottom of the page) and the "2016 European Cruise Log" button to read about our days in Copenhagen.

We have not been on the Explorer yet. That comes on March 1st, right after our South America Cruise on the 23rd of this month on the Mariner.

  8. We spent extra days in Copenhagen after a cruise. If I only had one day, I would take the "On and Off Bus" around town for an overview, then go over to Tivoli Gardens for an early evening dinner and time in the park, including the free shows. Our Regent hotel was only a few blocks from Tivoli, so we walked over. We were back at the hotel by the time they did fireworks (usually Wednesday and Friday nights) and our room faced the park, so we watched them from our window.

  9. I just received an e-mail from Paul Reynolds today. He stated that he will now be replacing Lorraine as CD on the Mariner on January 23rd in Lima. Originally, it was Margaret that was scheduled to replace Lorraine.

  10. Travelcat,

On your other thread, you stated "Allowing upper suites to go to their suite at 1:00 p.m. instead of 2:30 p.m. is a great perk and one that is not visible to other guests"

I disagree that it is not visible. On our last cruise, at 1:00, they announced several times over the speaker system that guests in upper suites and those who were Titanium were allowed to go to their cabins. and that all other cabins would be available at about 2:30.

That announcement made it very 'visible". I don't mind that it happens, but it is visible.

Other than that, I agree that they have always treated guests the same once outside their cabin...and, hopefully, that will continue.
