  1. No UDP. It seemed like a nice extra fee alternative to MDR to us at $7 to $9 a person. A hidden gem.
  2. Close to the action in both Aruba and Curacao. Did the exact things in Curacao in May like our first trip there a few years ago. Took a left after crossing the pontoon bridge and hit the farmer's market off the sidewalk. Bought some great sweet breads for a late breakfast. Went into the covered flea market area down from there. Right next to the flea market is a local cafe called Old Market where locals go. Multiple food establishments under one roof. Ate ox tail for the first time. Didn't eat the iguana stew like we did on our first visit there, but makes for a great story to tell others that we ate it. Lots of tiny bones......
  3. Mama Mia must be a good show according to my wife. She talked me into buying a bottle of wine for a few cast members who were outside Vintages after their last performance in May before a new group took over. She wants to see it again when we sail on Allure in August. I liked it, but not as much as her I guess.... Starts out slow with lots of dialogue and my short attention span does not help. Never made it to the ice show on our 14 night b2b, but want to see it in August. Make sure you check out the tapas in Vintages though. A huge platter that serves at least 3 to 4 people. Well worth the $15 to $18 cost for both of us. Took leftovers to our cabin. It was our specialty restaurant for 2 nights.
  4. Most travel agent sites seem to list all the options with the codes mentioned above. Shame that Royal's is so generic in this regard.
  5. Updated confirmation lists category as GTY as before. No indication it is inside, outside or the specific type balcony. That is another mystery I guess. I can only assume it was booked as XB now.
  6. Booked on Allure and chose a balcony guarantee. Found out from researching further online that a balcony guarantee is different on Oasis class. There is a neighborhood guarantee and an oceanview balcony one. Originally booked online and you select a balcony category where we pick your cabin, but no extra option other than that. Called today to review my reservation and was told I only had a neighborhood balcony guarantee. No chance to get an oceanview. Can't see the oceanview balcony guarantee online. Am I missing something? Ended up paying extra to get a balcony oceanview guarantee.
  7. I agree you should get a prorated refund on the dining package since you can't use it. Seems like you should not have to jump through hoops to get that. WiFi you are probably using it more had you not been isolated. It would be a nice jesture, but I wouldn't push for that.
  8. Good choice! Traditional dining is the only way to go now. MTD is so messed up as ships have increased capacity.
  9. Waiting to see many topics like this. Ships understaffed and kids sail free. Just beginning of peak summer travel. Going to be a long summer of bad reviews. Glad we took many cruises end of last year when capacity was under 50 percent.
  10. Sure does! Never went to WJ for breakfast. Park Cafe, Solarium Bistro and MDR. Solarium Bistro also has made to order omelettes also. This was on Allure, but assume Oasis would be the same.
  11. We brought throwaway food service gloves for WJ on Allure on a b2b a couple of weeks ago when we served ourselves. A little extra prep, but it made us feel better. Know it does nothing for Covid, but news of Noro outbreaks are still in the back of my mind. Miss when they used to serve you and it kept the buffet less sloppy also.
  12. Cleanest floor of any Golden Corral I have ever seen.
  13. Miss my $40 price on Serenade back in December. Diamond here and used to always get it, but not at current pricing.
  14. We were in 7600 right over Vintages in November on the hump. Never heard anything.
  15. I lurked when it was on AOL and don't recall ever posting. Anyone else remember rec.travel.cruises newsgroup? I was there on a regular basis also.
  16. Always have booked late traditional dining. Like it as ship is less crowded in the early evenings as most seem to be getting ready and having dinner. We just get a snack somewhere to hold us over if need be. You can find shows that don't clash. Only part of the dining room on third level was being used on Allure a few weeks ago and was quiet and just walked in at 8pm without any wait.
  17. I was on deck 5 where the lifeboat was being brought up when the Captain made the announcement.
  18. Captain said three people from Cuba. Resumed sailing about 45 minutes ago. Ship should make it back to Fort Lauderdale on time.
  19. Going next week on Allure. Saw a comment on another social site that our cruise will be the first Oasis class ship to go to Aruba and Curacao. Is this true?
