  1. We just booked for Oct. 2018

Web site doesn't even have public areas on deckplan yet.

I am sure shows and other announcements will be forthcoming.

I research Breakaway to get most of my info.

    Blessings,

    Sam

Looking at the Breakaway Plus class ships(Escape and Joy) would be a better resource.

  3. By your own admission you had something deposited to your on board account and spent a portion of this OBC on something. What would of happened if the cruise line had not given you the bonus of on board credit?

If I don't have enough OBC on my account, I just prepay my tips.

So even if Royal gave me nothing, I still wouldn't have spent anything on the cruise.

  4. and this is a true statement, ships don't sail to U.S. ports, they sail away from them. I have never seen a ship sail from Charleston to Miami. The only exception I can think of is Key West.

  5. You really need to go to the Carnival website as you have so much misinformation. You only pay sales tax in the embarkation port. so a $8 drink at 8% the tax would be .64. Cheers is $5 a day more pp if purchased on the ship. I have no idea where you got the $200 a day deposit, not. BTW St.Thomas does not have sales tax, SJU has a hefty sales tax around 11%.

Actually it includes US ports of call as well

Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to the guest folio when this program is used within US waters. The tax is based on the state's tax structure and the cost of the individual drink purchased (not the daily program rate). For example: if the drink price is $5 and the tax is 10%, the guest's Sail & Sign card will be charged $0.50 for tax. This applies to all US ports (embarkation home ports and ports-of-call).

  6. Even though you have prepaid perhaps the 2 most expensive on board purchases and fees of cruising, I have never met anyone that was able to escape not paying at least a few dollars while on board.

I took a 15 day Transatlantic on Royal and didn't spend anything onboard, had OBC that covered the tips and actually got money back the last evening of the cruise.

So it's not that hard. I prefer to spend my money off the ship.

  7. I am curious why this change in nomenclature has inspired so much discussion. Why does it matter if they call the H room I will be in soon an 87Q?

Often when a company changes nomenclature they are doing so to reprice the product. I'm sure Royal knows which cabins are scooped up first and will adjust categories accordingly.

  8. Just have to keep Credit Card ( NOT DEBIT) on file with them. Just in case any incidentals come up.

You can pay off anything on S&S card with cash the last night or leave on Credit Card.

You aren't required to set up an account with a credit card. You can set it up with cash and actually never give them any cash if you don't make any purchases against your account.

I usually have OBC, set up my account with cash online and never give them anything.

  9. If you truly won't spend a dime onboard, you don't have to give Carnival anything at check-in, since you prepaid your tips.

Bear in mind with Cheers, if you order drinks while the ship is still in port the first day, you do have to pay tax on them.

  10. To allow this, Choice Air would have an incredibly foolish business model. Who knows? Call and ask.

    From the Air2Sea FAQ

    http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&pnav=5&pnav=2&faqType=faq&faqSubjectId=324&faqSubjectName=Air+Travel&faqId=3727

What happens if a guest with Air2Sea cancels their cruise?

A:Guests with non-refundable tickets will not be canceled. They own the ticket. Guest with refundable tickets will be refunded, but subject to the airline's rules, conditions and penalties. Guests should contact the Air2Sea Support Desk at (800) 533-7803 with any questions about cancellations and/or refunds.

  11. Are you aware other cruise operators and travel companies do offer a link to stay subscribed while receiving a lesser volume of emails? I think I should have that option, you do not.

Really, can you do a screenshot or post a link to one of the cruiselines that offer that option?

In the last few weeks I get almost daily emails from NCL,Royal,Azamara, Celebrity and Princess, as mentioned this is wave season and the volume will dissipate soon.
